Leather leggings

Having worn my faux leather leggings a lot more than I thought I would I want to invest in a real pair as a Christmas present from DH. has anyone got any recommendations? I've found a couple of pairs from Reiss, Jigsaw and Iris and Ink all of which are similar price, but none have any reviews online. Ideally I'm after a fairly long fitting pair as I'm quite tall. Thanks in advance

I just got BCBG ones (faux leather ) in the sales for an absolutely silly price (£40 ). They don't call them faux leather though - it s something ridiculous like 'environmental friendly' I m very pleased :)
I tired a Vince pair that were too small, and a theory pair that were out of budget. They were both lovely too

StupidFlanders · 06/01/2015 04:47

Ok now I'm interested!

I like the theory ones with the elasticised waist (and some crazy baggy ones that thankfully were sold out!)

Could someone give me some outfit combo ideas for every day?

ZammoMcGuire · 06/01/2015 06:06

My eyes mistook me. 745. You should take a long hard look at yourselves.

MrsCampbellBlack · 06/01/2015 06:16

Why should they? If they can afford it then it is entirely up to them what they spend their money on.

Are leather leggings going to become the new 'bag threads' Wink

Emmylooagain · 06/01/2015 06:27

I have the Helmut Lang ones and they are to die for. Expensive but I bloody love them!

BrandyAlexander · 06/01/2015 07:07

I have the Theory ones. I was planning on getting them dry cleaned when needed! Wasn't planning to put them anywhere near a tumble drier?

Zammo, these leggings are £890. I took a long hard look at myself when I first put them on. I looked great in them!Wink

Loving Novice Wink

Pmsl at leather legging treads being the new bag treadsGrin!
I m loving my faux ones and think if they are still around next season it might be my investment purchase instead of a bag. However I still can't decide if they will be as timeless and get as much use as a bag. I love the day time looks with denim shirt/ chunky sweater/ and night time silk shirt tuxedo jacket combo.
A friend of mine wore it with all saints halter neck top at the weekend - Envy

Yes. You should all buy a bench instead.

AmberNectarine · 06/01/2015 12:55

I've got a bench as well

Hi.
I know this is an old thread but here goes....

I am thinking of buying some Helmut Lang leather leggings for my wife as a present (I am a bloke). I found this thread while searching around on the internet and it looks like some of you have these so I wondered if I could ask a question.

She wouldn't be trying these on before I buy them, so I am keen to get the size right (particularly given the cost).

This thread suggests you should generally go for a size down in these.
My wife is typically between an 8 and a 10 - earlier this year definitely an 8, now more like a 10 or just under.

I have seen a pair on sale which are a US 4. I believe this is a UK 8.

The question really is whether you think a US size 4 would work well for a UK 8-10 ? How much smaller than your usual size should you go with these ?

Thanks

Bump for Don!

Chocolateteabag · 16/11/2016 23:21

Don - can you return them if they don't fit? As that is really going to be key if you want to surprise her. If they don't fit (and can be returned) are you going to stump up for a more ££ pair that do.

Which brand are you looking at??

Chocolateteabag · 16/11/2016 23:23

Sorry! ignore the last bit - you said HL

As the variations in shape are so wide - you really won't be able to tell if they will fit based on others experiences here so really check on if they are returnable

botemp · 16/11/2016 23:37

I have HL leather leggings, they are true to size so if she 's closer to a UK 10 I'd get a US6, do keep in mind that the if she's a UK high street 10 she may need a US8 due to vanity sizing (designer brands tend to fit smaller). If this is a Christmas present check the return periods as a lot of e-tailers have extended return periods for well into January, the Outnet for example, who often carry a lot of HL at discounted prices allow you to return any item purchased after Nov 22nd up until January 3rd.

DonQuixote1975 · 18/11/2016 11:56

Thanks very much all
I am looking at a bargain pair that cant be returned so maybe best to bin the idea unless I can get her to try them.

Do the HL ones tend to stretch, get baggy do you know ?

Pisssssedofff · 18/11/2016 12:06

I'd go for the Hush ones that are rated well and returnable, she'll be gutted if they don't fit

botemp · 18/11/2016 12:12

They don't get baggy IME. They do stretch but more in an accommodating way to the body. The problem is usually with the seams becoming the weak point (a friend of mine had a rather unfortunate accident, not HL though).

I'd tread carefully though if she's recently gained weight and intent on losing it again, now may not be the best time to be getting such a highly priced item in not her usual size (or worse if they don't fit bringing that truth home harshly).

catacats · 20/11/2016 22:50

I am a size 8 and have The HL leather leggings jbrand and hush (I love leather)
I have to say hands down my favourite has to be my two hush pairs great fit and so comfortable with a lovely Matt finish. Also if you get the size wrong no problem with returns. I would say all true to size with a little stretch, but the hush ones seem to keep their shape perfectly especially across the knee. I wouldn't risk ordering if I couldn't return could be a costly mistake. Good luck hope you find the perfect fit.
