BTW, still sniggering about CamelToe and Whine. Our best thread title yet.

bigTillyMint · 10/12/2014 15:52

It's low level stuff - banter, etc - he has always been a key figure in any classroom, not always in a good wayConfused plus sometimes refusing to follow school rules/procedures, plus not rating some teachers/his HOY.
I think DH feels it worse than me as he is a sec DH and thinks it reflects badly on him?

bigTillyMint · 10/12/2014 15:56

Beachy, I was also wondering about getting someone to mentor him - bit of a personality clash with HOY I think is not helping. Who knows - I don't think he does - teenage hormones may be playing a part.

motherinferior · 10/12/2014 16:19

Lovely friends, WHERE can I get DD1 a pair of low-top mint converse, size 5? Harder than it looks.

lalsy · 10/12/2014 16:34

BTM, we had the key figure in classroom thing with ds, not in a good way either! In yr9 his head of that bit got on his case, in quite an old-fashioned sort of way, checked up on him a lot and encouraged him for tiny moves in right direction, in firm calm sort of way. So maybe mentoring?

WAF! Hellooo there.

MrsS, you are marvellously indiscreet. Grin

I'm reporting in from Planet Varifocal. Wooooo ! Whoaaa ! No problems looking at far distances, but I'm not sure they suit my speed reading habit (I will look like a mad woman if I move my head from side to side as I read). They also make me feel about four feet tall, as the ground appears weirdly close. The lady at Specsavers told me to tuck my chin in when I walk, so I can see the ground better. Delightful. A double chin to go with the old bat glasses. Hmm

I have a variety of crepey catalogues, should anyone feel they are missing out. Chums, Hotter, Damart and many others. I fill the paper recycling bin many times over.

Christmas gift-wise - I have given DH a List. A Longchamp Le Pliage tote (already purchased on his behalf), a new jewellery box (Stackers from John Lewis) and a Naked Eye Shadow palette (might ask DB to oblige ). Of course, the correct answer to give when your DH asks what you want for Christmas is: "a husband with an imagination". Wink He in turn will be getting a photography course and some golf trousers.

bigTillyMint · 10/12/2014 18:28

LOL! How did that happen? I couldn't get it to open on my computerConfused I will ask for that post to be deleted

bigTillyMint · 10/12/2014 18:33

Addle, that was the page I was trying to link toConfused

CVGrin at your crepey varifocals and catalogues!

NUFC69 · 10/12/2014 18:53

CV, you will love your varifocals - I have had them for about ten years and they just make life easier. And I have transition lenses, too, so cover all bases.

My mouth is throbbing from the deep cleaning which the dentist did and the injections are wearing off now. Sad

Rosebag · 10/12/2014 19:09

Can I add my admiration to the pile of positive posts about Stropps great lesson and mammoth essay. Go you, woman. It's happening!
And also add my laughter to MrsS's sordid past publicly declared…step away from the booze Grin
Monty are the kids better?
Thanks to Tilly re DS but glad he's reined it in a bit re the detention etc. It'll pass. It will. When you're down about it just remember the stories I told you about DS1. Maybe it's a reaction to the fact that his Dad is in the secondary arena?
CV did the optician say you'd get used to the new lenses? I mean there's loads of people walking around in varifocals without keeling over or knocking over little old ladies….I guess time is what it needs. Grin re double chin!
I am really (but really) down in the dumps at the moment: Last choir last night…feeling absolutely crap about it even though it was the right decision; Play has gone pear shaped…we have withdrawn it from the festival in February; I have had another course cancelled; very sleep deprived….after the 3am start on Tuesday, DS2 was texting me after midnight last night…he's fine, just unaware of the time; went to meet a new pianist today, and for the first time in maybe 18 months sang opera…reader, I was terrible…really terrible. So Blush; DH won the war over who goes out tonight so I have let down a good friend; DD has lost her Food Tech folder with all her work in it. Feck.

Rosebag · 10/12/2014 19:09

Hope you feel better soon, NU

lalsy · 10/12/2014 19:26

Rose, you poor love, that all sounds rubbish. I am so sorry about the play - I hope it can be knocked back into shape, maybe for something with a slightly longer timescale? Have a Wine, make a list of the things that need sorting, and forget about them till tomorrow if you can?

I have just managed not to get cross with rather brusque and annoying offshoot of a client and done what he has asked [client is wonderful in all other ways, and I will try to avoid offshoot in future]. Now have to start crepeyjobs including vacuuming stairs, hassling ds, making dinner. May hit the sherry.

bigTillyMint · 10/12/2014 19:31

NU, sorry to hear about your tooth - it is a horrible pain.

Rose, thanks! Sorry to hear you are feeling down. It sounds like a sorely trying day. Tomorrow will be better. Has your DD asked at school if it has been handed in? DD has often reclaimed stuff that way!

Stropperella · 10/12/2014 19:47

BTM, sorry to hear about Troublesome Teen 2. I hope ds feels more sensible after a rest over Christmas.
Rose, sorry to hear about what sounds like a crap day. Hope you can find a solution for the play.
NU, hope you feel better soon.
Yay WAF!!! Lovely to see you! Hope that drum kit is still getting lots of use. I think of you every time I see Rattus Rattus .Wink

I think for Christmas Lalsy needs the M&S walnut whip Christmas tree that I spotted today. Grin

Stropperella · 10/12/2014 19:57

MrsS, I chortled mightily at your update on the thread last night and have obviously never done anything similar myself .
CV, I've been wearing varifocals fulltime since I was 42 with no need to add to my chins. Grin I couldn't do without them, although I also have special computer glasses, because otherwise I would get a crick in my neck. Sadly, nothing can really fix my close vision now. I am resigned to not being able to see to thread a needle. Nuffink anyone can do about astigmatism, I believe.

Rose, what a crap day. Glass of wine, early night with a book and start again tomorrow?

DD1's parents' evening. She appears to be doing well. Grin

bigTillyMint · 10/12/2014 20:44

MI that's good newsSmile

bigTillyMint · 10/12/2014 20:56

Teen hormones have a lot to answer for I think - DS is now being quite upbeat saying tomorrow is a fresh start and that he knows his HOY is really only trying to help him. But that may all have changed again by tomorrow when I have to drag him out of bedConfused

MrsSchadenfreude · 10/12/2014 22:58

I am still not feeling very chipper, but this may have more to do with getting into work for 0730 and not leaving until 1900. And they have just emailed and texted me, asking me to do something else "urgently"

OP posts:
cremolafoam · 10/12/2014 23:38

My silly specs are varifocals CV.
I love them. I was quite shocked that I needed to wear specs full time. This only happened a couple of years ago.
You may find they are rubbish for reading in a semi-recumbent posture.Grin I have to wear standard jobs for lying down .
I have a variety of chins : one for every occasion but the glasses are not to blame. No, that would be the crepiness

Rose. Sorry about your rubbish day.
Tomorrow will be better.Thanks
Likewise NU. Hope the tooth pain resolves.
