Have I been committing fashion faux pas at work?.

Just read the other black tights thread and noticed a lot of hate for black sheer tights. I wear them pretty much every day to work with a grey/black suit. Opaques aren't formal enough and look odd with a suit anyway. Fishnets etc a definite no for work. I do wear nude tights in the summer, but in winter and autumn tend to go for sheer black tights.

So, what is the alternative, because I can't see one!

I rarely wear skirts to work, and haven't yet this winter. But I like dark grey tights the best. In the day around 60 denier.

I'm not keen on black opaques anymore and if I go out in the evening for drinks or whatever wearing a dress I'll go for lighter - around 30 denier.

I have heard that Americans are baffled by the Brits' love of black opaques to be fair and never wear them.

I think this is true to a great extent, but I live in Florida where you would never see them at all.

I notice that the Mayor of NY's wife is wearing them in that picture with Kate. I do think you see them in colder climates sometimes, but never at night with an LBD. Kate wore nude sheers with her lace dress for a nighttime thing on this visit to NY.

There is no law that opaques have to be black , I have lots of tights with lace ,cables and grey being the mainstay.
Never going to wear sheers - just the though of their horrible thinness makes me shudder .
