Give me your best bright red lipstick recommendation please - long lasting and not too glossy.......

Hmmm it's sheer though

Arlagirl · 23/11/2014 22:05

I had a lovely Guerlain one. Ive dark hair and very pale skin...love red in winter.

OttiliaVonBCup · 23/11/2014 22:07

It's lovely though. And very pigmented for a sheer one.

McFox · 23/11/2014 22:08

Yes to the Kate Moss Rimmel one - I wear it all the time and I always get compliments.

Fabulassie · 23/11/2014 22:14

Apparently the L'Oreal colour I got was Eva (Longoria). I don't think our colouring is anything alike, but the brick/rusty/warm thing suits my fair skin and makes my blue eyes pop. So, I wouldn't give too much thought to the celebrity name attached to the shade.

Fabulassie · 23/11/2014 22:15

MAC Ruby Woo technically does work on me although I find it is a bit "bleedy." But I think it makes my teeth look yellow and I generally feel a bit bashful in a super bright red.

OttiliaVonBCup · 23/11/2014 22:16

The one I like is Blake.
I look nothing like her.

Pixa · 23/11/2014 22:20

I love velvetines lime crime liquid matte lipsticks, for those who can pull them off! They look great!

oooh, love that suedeberry - where from?

MissFenella · 23/11/2014 22:31

MAC - best I have ever used

noddyholder · 23/11/2014 22:38

Thanks for the advice and the compliment :) I will try a coral/ orange red

RockMummy · 24/11/2014 08:03

Noddy - I am a (fake) red head and love MAC Chili. It's the only red I have ever found to suit me. For the first time I don't feel like a drag queen wearing red lippy!

noddyholder · 24/11/2014 08:25

Oh we gave a Mac v close will take a look. I always have a really natural lip colour sometimes only gloss so will be a big change

leedy · 24/11/2014 11:53

Nars are brilliant for reds, have a huge selection. Their Red Square matte lip pencil is a fantastic orange-red.

For a slightly tomatoey red, I also really like Ilia's Wild Child (plus all natural so you could possibly eat it...).

Oh yeah, Lipstick Queen have some lovely reds too. I'm particularly partial to Saint Rouge.

MrsLettuce · 24/11/2014 18:01

I adore mac ruby woo, love how utterly matte it is. Rimmel Kate 111 is a very similar colour indeed, it's a matte but nothing like the finish truly matte finish of ruby woo.

A lot of people seem to like rimmel kate 01 but I didn't get on with that at all, far too dark.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 25/11/2014 11:46

I also use Rimmel Kate 107, and it's a great matte lipstick, but more of the deep raspberry variety. Just in case anyone is looking for something close to red, but not quite.

SuperFlyHigh · 25/11/2014 11:51

You need to know if you're a blue red or orange red (or berry) kinda woman.

I love for example Bobbi Brown for blue red lipgloss but MAC do nice ones too.

PS what's true red??

SuperFlyHigh · 25/11/2014 11:52

noddy - OT but how do you do it?! 46 with 2 DC? you look amazing! Smile

FishesTit · 25/11/2014 14:15

Never thought I could wear red, I tried the boots match for lips and now have a fabulous red and pink lipstick that suit me brilliantly!

noddyholder · 25/11/2014 14:48

I am 49 one ds so you may be mistaken! ;)

SuperFlyHigh · 25/11/2014 14:50

Your profile says 46 maybe needs updating... Grin and yes me bad it says one DC but says children at top...

noddyholder · 25/11/2014 14:56

Thanks so much for the compliment in that case much welcome atm! The photos are current though but better change the age :(

evelynj · 29/11/2014 12:38

Just wanted to say that it's sometimes hard to see ourselves what suits esp if it's something new that we're not used to. Try taking some photos in each lippy & review the pics later, helps to see more objectively
