I have some of these boots - they were from Jones the bookmaker a few years ago. I have also seen some in Schuh, but not recently I'm afraid.

I had those from Gabor 25 years ago, finally binned last year...

Gabor, in memory of my lovely black boots lined with pale leather that were smart enough to wear to work, were soo comfortable for years, that wrapped butter-softly round my size 8s but looked quite at home in a Camden nightspot in the 90s.

Hush Puppies CHamber Moto boots look about right. They are cheap on Amazon Warehouse and on eBay. Waterproof too. Very victorian styling in reality and you can't see the tread on the soles on them.

I have them in tan and they are comfortable too.

I bet Tethers has fucked off somewhere and purchased a pair of brogues instead....

these are very close indeed and available in an 8. Probably been linked already.

As it happens I have the Cosmic in tan, they are fabulously warm, at least the tan version looks good in real life (IMHO - I haven't seen the black so not as sure about them) and I have had lots of compliments on them.

There are, I agree, pitfalls of looking as though you are going hiking on he one hand or are in Victorian fancy dress on the other. Unless that is what you are looking for, of course.

Oh how I WISH I had been out partying in gold boots. Have had the jour from hell with le in-laws, tramping around a Sherlock Holmes exhibition which, ironically, contained the perfect pair of Victorian boots, much like banana's link.
