Buying a chanel handbag

My husband wants to buy me a chanel 2.55 handbag for my birthday (been lusting after one for years and have the fake from bodrum lol) but Ive just seen the price :O are they the same price wherever you get them from (i understand chanel doesn't put these bags on sale)

Also is there a handbag forum here or is this the right place to post? Just need some advice on buying as Ive never bought a designer bag at that price before..

I LOVE love love the designer exchange. Although, their authenticator is more than amazing and I think also has her own side business of sourcing hard to find premium bags. Her business is called Whisper Sales. If I could justify one of her finds...everyone would know.

I want a boy too, but a woc one. There is a gold stingray one I keep 'almost' buying.

Thanks everyone for the advice I did look at some of the pre owned websites and I think I would def use those in future to buy another bag. I ended up getting th medium classic flap in black with gold hardware and a little purse to go with it. The boy bag I linked to before was sold, which was annoying as it was available when I called last week and the last one anywhere..but having looked at the classic and boy bags - the look and feel of the classic far surpasses the boy bags!

Thanks ladies :) I got the lamb skin leather, it's so soft I coukd already see slight indentations on the double flap from the zip but it just felt so lovely i had to get that one! I got the purse in the caviar though as that will probably take more of a battering

Polly We went to the Chanel boutique in Brompton rd, was lovely driving down in the beautiful weather esp as I spent my uni yrs around there (14 years ago!) so it was memory lane for me

Lovely bag. I got the same bag in caviar for my birthday this year. We bought it in Selfridges as I was at a conference round the corner and had a little time to kill before the train.

I have to say it was a lovely shopping experience.

Beautiful! I got the jumbo in caviar and the wallet in lambskin. The lambskin is wearing well, I've had it 8 years, used daily, chucked in any bag and it's still fine. Just need to get the zip repaired.

I could stroke the lambskin all day
