Here we are again.....

OP posts:
Auriga · 28/10/2014 08:44

Glad it went as well as it could Addle. Memories of a good send-off will be consoling in the months to come.

Rosebag · 28/10/2014 09:57

Once again condolences addle. Glad the day went as well as could be expected. Thanks

bigTillyMint · 28/10/2014 12:01

On our way to Stevenage. Oh joy!
DM was glad that we were going - she said 2 or 3 times that she was finding it a bit much with us all there. And we were out most of the time! Her language is much worse (think someone learning a new language) and she gets very confused and flappy if things change/don't go to plan. Also increasingly forgetful - it's not looking good, is it? I am arranging for an assessment, so that's something I guess.

Blackduck · 28/10/2014 12:50

BTM I know what you mean! Dinner has to be at 5.00 (too early for ds and I) so I cook later but of course that ruins there routine!

My mum says she wishes she had died from the stroke which is :(

Lovely day at Hampton Court yesterday - perfect weather - sunny but not too hot - slogging round takes it out of you! Left ds with parents who will hand over to in laws tomorrow. On way home to great ready for the onslaught tomorrow - not looking forward to it....

Rosebag · 28/10/2014 13:31

Oh BD that is indeed Sad
tilly good luck in Stevenage! Do get the doctor to make sure your DM hasn't got some ongoing infection. My Ddad is SO much more 'with it', since they got his chronic UTI under control. He still has dementia but it is much less marked.
Fab fab fab weather here. I love this Indian summer. DD and I have been on a long hike to local shops to get bits for her Elphaba ( no surprises there) costume and then back via the coastal path. We are now going for late lunch at the beach cafe. Smile

lalsy · 28/10/2014 13:44

BD, Sad.

BTM, does your dm have a diagnosis? Have always - perhaps unfairly - assumed Stevenage is one of those places that people praise the transport out of, never a good sign.

herbaceous · 28/10/2014 14:13

Lalsy - you are not being unfair about Stevenage. It's a dive. Bit of a shame - when it was planned, the housing was built in clusters around little shopping centres, all linked by cycle paths to each other. But then came out-of-town shopping, and there wasn't enough footfall for the little shopping centres, which got all run-down, and no-one wanted to cycle anywhere as they used their cars for the OOT shopping.

I'm supposed to be doing my PGCE assignment, but as you can see am dicking about on the internet. Somebody slap me.

Blasted period has now been MIA for two months. Regular as clockwork (ish) until August, now nothing, other than hot flushes, metallic taste in the mouth, and an odd swelling feeling in the abdomen. I've even peed on a stick, with negatory results. Which always makes me a bit sad.

Right. On with finding bits from text books to back up my shaky assertions...

motherinferior · 28/10/2014 15:16

I am having a CDiff nightmare. I'm looking at the copy that the Difficult Child insisted was left untouched - including one page I just said yeah yeah to because by that point she'd browbeaten me so much - and it's awful. I'm worried the publisher will pick up on its awfulness and blame me. She says if I have concerns to take it up with client - Difficult Child is away this week so at least I can go over her head to the (equally difficult in her own way) chief exec...but now I look really unprofessional because it looks as if it's my mistakes I'm picking up at this late stage, not hers.

I've sent over a couple of thing saying 'looking at it now could I reword it' and I'm fairly sure she'll be OK about it but I hate this. Publisher was away when the DC was kicking off, which is why it's reached this stage....

MrsSchadenfreude · 28/10/2014 15:31

BD - Sad

If you have to go to Hertfordshire, Hitchin is quite nice, but avoid Cafe Rouge for lunch - terrible (cold) food and much the same could be said about the service. It took us 2 1/2 hours in there, ordering from their "quick lunch" menu.

I am back from hospital, having had my mole removed. Do not recommend watching them cut bits off you, most disconcerting. Tit now pleated and a funny shape. It also took over two hours for me to be seen. People were coming in, going to see the consultant and then having their surgery, and I was still sitting there. I complained to the nurse, who said "Oh they've only got one surgeon on..." But that didn't explain why people whose appointments were at 1100 were being seen before me. Didn't throw up this time, but couldn't stop shaking after it was done. Now slumped on sofa with tea.

herbaceous · 28/10/2014 15:58

Crikey, Mrs S. I'm not surprised you were shaking. What on earth did you look at it for? Once again, Dr Herbs prescribes wine.

motherinferior · 28/10/2014 16:04

Dr Herbs, you're my kind of doc Grin

Is it only Tuesday? I did in fact head out with the Inferiorettes, strolling through the sunny park to Sainsbury's. We picked up various delicious lunch items like Bought Potato Salad and chocolate and strolled back.

bigTillyMint · 28/10/2014 16:08

MrsS that sounds grim - glad its all done.

DD and I are in Costa in Stevenage having managed to spend an hour and a half looking in shops, which I think is pretty good going! We did drive through Hitchin on the way here and it looked quite nice. Got a wedding there next May.

The assessment for DM is SS - she did have an annual check about a year ago when she was deemed to be OK till the next one, but I think I will try to get another sorted next time I go up and go to it with her

herbaceous · 28/10/2014 16:21

Hitchin is indeed very nice. I undertook most of my middle class teenage activities there, such as bassoon lessons and residential courses at Hitchin Priory.

MrsSchadenfreude · 28/10/2014 16:38

DD2's High Jinks take place in Hitchin after school on a Friday. Either there or Finsbury Park. Personally, I think Hitchin has more to recommend it.

Dr Herbs, I have opened the wine... Grin

herbaceous · 28/10/2014 16:39

You are an excellent patient. Take before, after or with food. Be sure to finish the course, but do not exceed the stated dose.

bigTillyMint · 28/10/2014 17:16
Grin
motherinferior · 28/10/2014 17:20

WIBU to kill DP for last night's snoring? I moved onto the sofa in the end. I am absolutely wiped. He had a lovely night's sleep. I got up, ran, worked, went for a walk with the girls, worked again and want to die of exhaustion while he goes to t'ai chi in lovely rested manner.

Rosebag · 28/10/2014 18:39

YANBU MI but maybe try some Wine at bed time to send you to sleep before you stab him with the knife you keep under the bed Grin Commiserations. I sleep with one of those too. ( a snorer not a knife ...yet) Well I don't sleep much....

Oh heavens MrsS what a trauma. Best not to look, eh. Do hope you are taking herbs advice, and do not have to go through this again. Thanks

I have just received an email and I am SO upset with ConS and Herr Direktor that I'm not emailing back because I will no doubt disgrace myself with the venom of my reply. Hell hath no fury... Angry Angry Angry Sad

Rosebag · 28/10/2014 18:40

It's ruined my lovely day Sad

MrsSchadenfreude · 28/10/2014 18:48

Oh Rose. Sad
Have some Wine with me!

Rosebag · 28/10/2014 19:00

Cheers MrsS I might have to have couple of drinks, yes. Men are such tits.

bigTillyMint · 28/10/2014 20:37

Oh dear Rose, MI and MrsS, I do hope the medicinal wine prescribed by Herbs does the trick.

We are finally back, 9 hours after leaving DM's. DS is on good form, but I don't think there's any danger that he will be hot-footing it to Norwich any time soon - there were some amaaaazingly good triallers!

bigTillyMint · 28/10/2014 20:39

Whilst shopping in Stevenage, I got him some 32" waist, 34" leg skinny jeans. They fitShock DH OTOH has 34" waist and 30" leg non-skinniesGrin

wilbur · 28/10/2014 20:54

Have been catching up and have just spat my drink out at Lalsy's comment about capes making her look like the dog from Hairy McLary. Grin Not true, I'm sure, but funny. Just don't choose a tartan cape... I quite like a poncho or cape (anything that makes it feel like you haven't quite got out of bed is a good thing as far as I'm concerned) but rarely see them in shades that might suit as black is too Batman and patterned is too sofa.

Actually, Lasly, I was partly coming on to see how Addle was doing. So very sorry to hear about her dad - will you pass on condolences and tell her I am thinking of her?

I have just had a weekend in lovely, lovely Venice (with all the in-laws, but let's gloss over them - some are delightful and lovely, some make me stiffen up like an over-reacting mad thing). Great weather and lots of walking. A few churches, some modern art, some ancient art and plenty of ice cream. We went to the ghetto too, which was very special and tremendously interesting.

I think I need to make some dinner - dh has gone off to give blood, thought he'd be home ages ago and I have worked my way through most of a bottle of prosecco waiting for him to get back. Catch up further tomorrow, crepesters,
