Foundation - does this exist?

I'm looking for somnething high coverage, oil free and light reflecting but can't find one.

It has to be oil free because all moisturising foundations make me spotty. High coverage because I need it and light reflecting so it doesn't settle into my dry bits and fine lines. I'm making myself sound lovely, I know!

I have used Estee Lauder doublewear for years but I'm now finding it a bit mask like.

Any recommendations? Thanks!

Lancôme Photogenic Luminessence. I re-bought this recently and I have NO idea why I ever moved away. It's light reflecting, creamy but not heavy. Lasts...and lasts. It's £30. Expensive but, you only need once squirt and no touch ups required.

MeganChips · 13/10/2014 22:34

Thanks, I'll take a look at that.

I don't mind paying the money if it works, I have spent a fortune on foundations that do nothing for me over the years.

Estée Lauder double wear light is good. I much prefer it to double wear now. It took me a couple of goes to be convinced though

karinmaria · 13/10/2014 22:43

If you can, try going to a No7 counter in a Boots as they have revamped several of their foundations. The bigger the store, the better the range.

I've recently moved from Clinique to No7 and the quality (IMO) is the same! Mine is a medium coverage, non oil one although not light reflecting... It is good though!

I don't think one exists. I've looked and asked here and haven't found one. ELDW light is oil free but matt, and they've changed it recently. I can't use it any more, it separates on my face. So. I compromised. I use Chanel Aqua Vitalumiere and while it's not long lasting it is fairly oil free and gorgeously glowy/light reflective. I love it.

Whippet81 · 14/10/2014 03:22

I tried the Dior Star today - it is amazing. I'm not sure if it is oil free though I can't find out but I'm getting some!

I wear double wear too and go through periods where I think it looks caked on. I always go back to it but think that the Lancome Tient Idole is brilliant too.

AnonyMust · 14/10/2014 05:05

Another vote for the Lancôme photo thingy

violetbunny · 14/10/2014 06:37

Try the Bobbi Brown Skin foundation stick. I have super oily skin and this incredibly wears very well on me. It's natural, lightweight and has buildable coverage.

Eliza22 · 14/10/2014 07:46

Lancome are good for giving samples, too!
I'm shade 01 Albatre which has quite a yellowish look until it's on and blended but then just gives a lovely "lit" look.

MeganChips · 14/10/2014 19:49

Some great suggestions here, thanks!

I've googled so much I've gone foundation blind.

Oh no to Bobbi Brown foundation stick.
I used the original version and liked it- though a bit sticky ! But the new one has bad reviews on Make Up Alley and I find it has no coverage and disappears in 2 hours- and my skin is normal-dry.

Turquoiseblue · 14/10/2014 20:14

I ve just tried nars and it s lovely - quite light non greasy and you can build coverage without feeling like you re wearing a oily/ tight mask
Well impressed -plus they recommend you put it on with (clean) fingers- no faffing round and losing 1/2 of it on the brush/ sponge Grin

ygritte · 14/10/2014 20:45

I bought 4x Lancome mascaras for £22.50 in Boots today (not all full size obviously) and was asked the lady what she was wearing. I've never done that before, but it was a really good finish, sort of light reflecting but not dewy - perfect really. She used Lancome Silky Matte foundation with primer underneath. Worth asking for a sample?

yummypickledeggs · 15/10/2014 08:19

ygritte- looked up that foundation on the Lancome website and it doesn't seem to exist ( any more?)

Iheartautumn · 15/10/2014 08:25

Rimmel is your best friend Grin
And they're cheap aswell Wink

breakingtradition · 15/10/2014 10:35

Another no to Bobbi Brown foundation stick. I remember thinking it was amazing for the first couple of weeks, cos it's fairly high coverage and tbh, it just looks quite classy and a bit different with it being in a stick, rather than a bottle. After a while though, I noticed it was really drying my skin and actually making me look a fair bit older.

Definitely get a few samples. Don't let them try it on you in the store, because you will be drawn into what they're saying and a freshly applied foundation (assuming it's the right colour of course) will always look better than nothing at all, or foundation which was applied hours before. You need to see what it looks like out of the store and how long it last etc.

Eliza22 · 15/10/2014 16:08

OP, have you trailed any yet? How's it going?

Siarie · 15/10/2014 16:16

Try Nars sheer glow.

MeganChips · 15/10/2014 18:53

I haven't had chance yet unfortunately as I work in the middle of nowhere and am working all this weekend too. Bah.

The weekend after however is all mine and I'm going to go check a few out.

I do like the sound of the Lancôme one, the Nars one sounds too light coverage though unfortunately. I hadn't considered rimmel!

I did like the Laura Mercier one, their rose Ivory was the most perfect colour but the moisturising one wasn't a great choice for me. I wonder what their oil free I'd like?

Megan I'd be very surprised if you didn't LOVE the Lancome.

MeganChips · 15/10/2014 20:21

I'll check that one out first Smile
