Kn-October! The continuing NO Spend/ Low spend clothes challenge!!

Welcome to the continuing NO Spend/ Low Spend clothes challenge , where we pledge once more to KNOCK our clothes spending habits on the head! .

A huge Well Done to all who have stayed with us (especially those who have been here since August!!) . We have all made a huge difference in our clothes spending habits , learning what we need and what we dont..

We've had some brilliant support here, we have all learnt what our triggers are and we all spent less.

So, a definite success; and now it’s time to sign up and pledge to get a grip in Kn-October!!

Can we continue? .. Lets face it with the lovely weather , lots of us have had we havent even contimplated our Autumn wardrobes yet , so resisting the new seasons offerings has been easier ...

So this month we are going to get out our last year's stuff and really contemplate what we do and dont need .. Maybe we can even MAKE ££s instead of spending them by ebaying some of those purchases that sat in outr wardrobes unworn last Autumn/ winter ..

SO lets get at it again. Remember WE DONT have to buy just because THEY want us to get their 'Life style' looks

SIGN UP BELOW ..

And a big welcome to old and new S&B obsessed MNers - who just can’t stop buying it all - to join us in our quest to get a grip.

......................................................................................
So, what’s it all about?

We all LOVE new clothes, but are short on the willpower to resist, and quite frankly its getting too much ..

We have piles of clothes and shoes we've even forgotten we have, (some with the labels’ still onblush) .

But we want to get back into control and wear the lovely things we have and stop being a slave to every new catalogue, website and blog.

We want to resist the sales and offers and we want our friends and neighbours to know us better than the postmen and the local couriers !

We know they want us to buy into their new lifestyle looks , but we are stronger than them.

-Throw out your catalogues as they arrive!
-Unsubscribe to online shops!
-And let’s get creative and stay stylish without spending even more £££s and without adding to the piles of unused stuff we already have...

So here we go again...

-Some Rules-
-Either commit to No Spend or to a set budget.
-Exceptions to No Spend are tights, socks ,underwear (knickers and bras) and to replace something that has Genuinely worn out.

Lets help each other kick this habit!

We know its hard and we will have to continue to be accountable to each other ..BUT WE CAN DO IT!

So Who's in again?

Following this thread! I bought a scarf for £19 and found it goes with just about everything in my wardrobe, just about, which makes it a good buy in my opinion.
My problem is I have a whole wardrobe of really nice clothes, but, day to day, I probably resemble a bag lady. My resolution is to actually wear what I've got, and just add essentials occasionally. Oh, and lose some weight and get into the nice things I've grown out of.

Thrown out woolovers and white company catalogues today, I also have wardrobe(s) of clothes that I like but end up wearing the same staples, going to put a few outfits together tomorrow for autumn!

This is probably not a good place to post a discount code but it can come under low rather than no spend.

MANGO SHOPPING WEEKEND: 30% off from 24 to 26 October - 26/10 online only - on all MANGO brands. Online discount code: 5WEEKEND

Wellllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

I've been searching in vain for a chocolate brown and a hunter green jumper in a natural fabric.
Tried eBay, M&S, Tesco, Sainsbury. No joy.
Most were sage or lime / taupe or beige.
Polo necks, cowl necks, V necks to my naval.
Acrylic, poly, or cashmere at £££

The Woollovers advert pinged up. I thought "OK, worth a look........"

Ordered. The colours I want. Lambswool. Crew necked.

I was going to buy a Coatigan from Matalan but at this rate I won't wear any of my coats in the wardrobe ( 19c here Hmm )

Well, I said I'd fall off the wagon in November. And I have with a thud! We're in the US and spent the day at an Outlet Mall. Today's haul was 1 bag from Cole Haan, a wallet from Coach and a watch. Also 2 dresses and a Lego set for DD. It could and would have been worse if DD had been amenable to me trying things on....

BlueEyedWonder · 11/11/2014 07:25

Great thread! I've been trying to do low spend which is under £100 per month for me. However, I've fallen off the wagon in the last few weeks.
This is my favourite time of year for clothes shopping. I love coats and boots and scarves etc... I've been seduced by catalogues offering 15% or 20% off and Boden and Gap email me daily with tempting offers.
Agree with others I don't feel good when DH points out ANOTHER online parcel has arrived for me. Also the man in the post office pointed out I'd been in there nearly everyday doing returns. The shame.
So I'm going to do no more online shopping apart from xmas gifts for others. I'm going to delete the emails and not spend anything at all for the rest of November. I am in NEED of a dress to wear to an xmas do that I can then also wear at xmas and new year.

I've posted them back via 'return to sender' and put a note on asking to be removed from the mailing list. Not sure if it's worked yet though!

cardamomginger · 11/11/2014 12:39

This time of year is hardest for me too. I 'do' autumn and winter so much better than summer and there are all these lovely things that would look great on me!!

mowglik · 11/11/2014 16:15

Hi all id like to join but don't think j can do no spend just yet so will set £100 for November.. Though technically I've already overspent as reveived some things this week :/ anyway from today it's £100
I lost a fair bit of weight after ds turned 1 and have been updating my wardrobe but I've now got loads of clothes I haven't even taken the tags off yet :/
I do find the emails and catalogues a bit too tempting, I think I'll ubsubscribe to a few of them to start with!
Hope the month is going well for everyone else (has this become the Nov thread?)

cardamomginger · 12/11/2014 02:00

Macy's today. And probably Old Navy tomorrow.

I am a failure this month.

December's another month!!
