Love it tomandlorenzo.com/2014/09/george-clooney-and-amal-alamuddin-get-married-part-two/ and I can't wait to see the frock. Even though the whole wedding has been too brash for me and abit not right with it. I love the way she dresses. Call me shallow but this is S & B!

Oh I wouldn't mind sitting next to him at a dinner party Hester as he looks like a good laugh (and he is a notorious prankster, I believe) but I just wouldn't jump into bed with him. Sorry George! Wink

HesterShaw · 30/09/2014 11:56

I get the asexual bit. I wouldn't necessarily jump into bed with him either. But it doesn't stop him being handsome and fun and good company I know him well after all.

Interesting isn't it how handsome doesn't equal sex appeal? If you'll forgive me for lurching seamlessly from Hollywood megastar to Welsh comedian, Rhod Gilbert isn't that good looking, but bloody hell, he oozes sex appeal. To me he does anyway. Are you reading Rhod? I'm yours, baby.

Anyway, back to Amal's trouser suit. It was very nice.

cheeseandpineapple · 30/09/2014 12:04

Mignonette, apologies, I realise now you meant Oscar the designer and not Oscar as in ott awards ceremony!!

Interesting thought that they want to transcend politics, that's possible too. Whatever their ambitions, I get the impression, overall that they (G in particular) want to use their visibility to try and make a difference in a positive way. However they achieve that, I think their intentions are very well meant.

Although I know people who work in humanitarian relief in Sudan and they didn't find G's input helpful.

quirkychick · 30/09/2014 12:08

Gorgeous trouser suit. A bit Bianca Jagger, I think. The best outfit of all.

Great to see a stylish and intelligent woman.

Yy to going to Venice, it is so beautiful and romantic.

LilAnnieAmphetamine · 30/09/2014 12:13

Cheese Smile. I have heard that about GC too- a lot of 'stars' no matter how well informed can be a real impairment to the process.

I see them as a hybrid Bill & Melinda Gates crossed with Angelina crossed with politics.

EmilyGilmore · 30/09/2014 12:16

Can't help laughing at the references to her being his intellectual equal! Ha ha ha. He's a bloody actor fgs! He gets pays to do what my toddler does - dress up and play make-believe. When days we decide acting was such a serious, important contribution to the world? It's entertainment!

EmilyGilmore · 30/09/2014 12:17

*When did we decide...not days.

MarshaBrady · 30/09/2014 12:19

I don't think you can say either way with an actor. Could be highly intelligent, or not.

MarshaBrady · 30/09/2014 12:21

I do think he's nice in some films. It's almost as if the mags are trying to make him look as lack lustre and unsexy as possible. Just a bit hammy

Amal's civil wedding outfit.
LilAnnieAmphetamine · 30/09/2014 12:22

I think most posed wedding photos are a bit hammy tbh. Lovely day and all that but staged photos are still staged photos whether it is a Hollywood wedding or outside the local registry office. Hard to get around the posing bit.

BecauseIsaidS0 · 30/09/2014 12:23

Gosh yes, my (our) posed wedding pics are terrible, while the candid ones are lovely.

Having said that, I do think his looks have gone downhill in the last couple of years or so.

HesterShaw · 30/09/2014 12:26

It's called getting a bit older surely. Happens to the best of us.

MarshaBrady · 30/09/2014 12:26

She looks ok, and a decent pose. But him, noo

CateBlanket · 30/09/2014 12:29

most people who reach their 50s suffer a set back and start acting all crazy, trying to prove they are still young

Most people? Confused

LinusDKD · 30/09/2014 12:37

emily being an actor doesn't equal being stupid. It is just the job they chose to do.

Plenty of actors have university degrees (Edward Norton, Jodie Foster, Brooke Shields, etc) and many other don't have a degree but are intelligent, smart and shrewd business people.

HesterShaw · 30/09/2014 12:39

Glenda Jackson was an actor. I believe she is generally Approved Of on MN. Emma Watson ditto.

SWIMTHECHANNEL · 30/09/2014 12:46

She was called to the English bar in 2010, but was surely working in New York as an advocate at high level before that?

Being stylish doesn't make her more of a role model, but it certainly doesn't make her any less of one. And it may make her seem more accessible / interesting to teenagers.

MarshaBrady · 30/09/2014 12:52

Yep Clint Eastwood too, he has made some decent films.

HesterShaw · 30/09/2014 12:55

though apparently he's a bit of an arsehole.

MarshaBrady · 30/09/2014 13:13

Arf

thesaurusgirl · 30/09/2014 13:37

The wedding dress is very pretty but I expected something a bit more striking than this, which is very fairytale virgin princess-y and a little bit, well, Pronuptia.

I thought Sarah Burton was making her dress.

The best wedding dresses ever are CBK's and Bianca Jagger (who I saw recently in the Concorde lounge at BA, behaving badly towards the staff. Being a humanitarian doesn't equate to treating other humans nicely).

santamarianovella · 30/09/2014 13:49

In my opinion the best wedding dress ever was Princess Marie chantal of Greece, Valentino made it, I vividly remember it as the wedding was such a big deal, it was all over the news and the newspapers printed articales about it for days, they both looked gorgeous.

LilAnnieAmphetamine · 30/09/2014 14:11

I wore Adidas Gazelles to marry in. Inside a church.

LilAnnieAmphetamine · 30/09/2014 14:11

Then changed into some mega shoes for the party.

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 30/09/2014 14:51

Wtf have they done to George's face on the Hello cover! He looks like Prince Charles' Spitting Image puppet.
