Love it tomandlorenzo.com/2014/09/george-clooney-and-amal-alamuddin-get-married-part-two/ and I can't wait to see the frock. Even though the whole wedding has been too brash for me and abit not right with it. I love the way she dresses. Call me shallow but this is S & B!

she can. that's not what people are saying- you are misinterpreting.

EmilyGilmore · 29/09/2014 20:16

I see others have already mentioned Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise - that's exactly what I was thinking too.

cartsmar · 29/09/2014 20:17

'Playing dress up'! How rude!

theDudesmummy · 29/09/2014 20:18

I wish her well but she is far too thin

Onedropoflove · 29/09/2014 20:19

I think it's probably real. I don't care how many threads they are I love a fashion discussion!

Yes, I thought Nancy Dell'ollio too. He'll be in politics within 12 months now that he has the perfect accessory.

Onedropoflove · 29/09/2014 20:21

Most brides lose weight before the wedding I'd have thought.

Beach It depends on the job, surely, and the occasion? The women at Matrix and Landmark all dress superbly, but they don't dress ostentatiously, and she does.

That red dress was not merely frivolous but positively inappropriate. She made a serious occasion where she could have blended in (she was only one of th delegates, after all), all about her.

Granted, if you can't overdress for your wedding then when can you?

BecauseIsaidS0 · 29/09/2014 20:21

Here's a blog about her style

Bakeoffcakes · 29/09/2014 20:22

Ilona she's nota celebrityHmm. She's a human rights lawyer.

I'm also really angry about all the "skeletal" comments! My dd is 23 and has a very similar figure. She's had lots of anorexic comments and it's horrid. She eats like a blooming horse!

mignonette · 29/09/2014 20:22

I don't get the 'can't be into frivolous fashion if she's clever' point of view. Now that IS plain daft. I'd have thought clever women would be more into high end fashion because their brains have earned them the income to afford it. And the higher end you go, the more decorative and luxe it is.

And it is Italy- the fashion bar is set VERY high. Gotta beat Anna Del Russo on her home territory after all. You cannot get married in Venice wearng beige. No, no, no ,no ,no.

pinkfrocks · 29/09/2014 20:24

Hardly a blog- more a collection of photos off the DM website.

EmilyGilmore · 29/09/2014 20:24

She's papped almost daily skipping down London streets wearing bonkers (sorry, endearingly cute) outfits which suggests to me she hasn't worked in a while - I know a couple of barristers and none of them would look like that on their lunch break!

thesaurusgirl · 29/09/2014 20:25

No Mignonette, I do know some of the women lawyers at some of the 'star' chambers and whilst they all dress beautifully, it's all very elegant and understated. My colleagues often wear Issa and DVF to work but again, it's all quite sleek.

Her look is very attention seeking and I find it a bit jarring, though there's no denying she looks fabulous.

cartsmar · 29/09/2014 20:25

I wonder if she'll stick to wearing the wedding band alone.

phonebox · 29/09/2014 20:25

He is starting to look like Cliff Richard.

BecauseIsaidS0 · 29/09/2014 20:29

I don't know about clothes, but I know of one barrister who sports three inch long bejewelled nails!

SinglePringle · 29/09/2014 20:31

That outfit is STUNNING. Bloody lovely. She looks bloody gorgeous and he looks like the cat that got the highly intelligent, fun and beautiful cream.

Regardless of whether it's pure love or huge respect mixed with a mutually beneficial a business arrangement, I hope they're very happy together because they certainly look it.

mignonette · 29/09/2014 20:31

I'm sorry but that is totally unfair to say it is wrong to dress 'frivolously' or 'ostentatiously'. Those women you mention might dress superbly but I bet they chafe against the restrictions upon them- they do not choose those understated colours of a totally free will. Good on her for sticking two fingers up at anodyne, sexist and restrictive dress codes. Shame more women (and men) don't have the guts to do it. And that red dress- she was at a gala night FFS. Not in court.

I watched Amal's newsnight interview and she was dressed beautifully in a Marni rose print blouse and pale pants.

And Issa and DVF are very mid range when it comes to off the peg 'designer' clothing. Giambattista Vialli- that dress was not off the peg. Neither was her Oscar and Alexander MCQueen and Stella. All custom fitted to her (the Stella louche and looseness is deliberate, not bad fitting).

By god If I had her income I'd have everything custom made. And I'd ride a unicorn to work.

mignonette · 29/09/2014 20:32

She married in Venice FFS. There's already some major Baroque competition going on. A girl has to trump that. :)

BecauseIsaidS0 · 29/09/2014 20:33

In my experience in the corporate world, a woman can dress creatively if she is bloody good at her work. Otherwise it will just become another unspoken point against her for a mediocre end of year review Sad

mignonette · 29/09/2014 20:37

Oh yes BUT it is wrong and I would argue absolutely that not one of those understated women in beige and navy would ever choose those colours every working day of her life. :)

It is sexism, it is wrong and to hear other women slating a woman for being frivolous....My god did I go back in time to 1930 when I refreshed my computer screen? Never expected those unspoken points to come from other women.

letsgotothebeach · 29/09/2014 20:40

Everything mignonette said, and I'd love to see anyone riding a unicorn to work!

BecauseIsaidS0 · 29/09/2014 20:40

Oh, I'm totally with you, mignonette. I'm just speaking out of silently wishing I could dress like that for work Sad
