5-Day Makeover Plan

WhatsGoingOnEh · 29/09/2014 10:25

Anyone fancy joining me? I feel HIDEOUS and want to tackle it. I've got no evening plans this week so I'm going to follow a home-made makeover plan to try to look and feel better by Saturday, even if it's just purely psychological and I look exactly the same to everyone else.

I have 20lbs weight to lose which will be a longer-term thing. This week is just to kickstart me, and stop me feeling so depressed and fugly. When I feel better, I naturally eat better and feel more positive. This is just to kickstart that.

The plan:
Follow a diet. Any diet allowed. Anything to lose 3-5lbs.
Every day, do 45 minutes' exercise.
Every night, go to bed at 10pm.
Every day, do one or more 15-minute makeover treatment from the list below.
Every day, drink 8 glasses of water.
Every day, whiten teeth.
Book a couple of bigger treatments, like dentist, facial, massage, etc.

Makeover list:
Dye eyelashes/brows
Do pore strip
Deep-condition hair
Facepack
Body exfoliation
Manicure
Pedicure
Fake tan
Sort out wardrobe - get autumn clothes ready
Chuck/Ebay/give away things I never wear
Wash make-up brushes
Sort out make-up bag, and piles of beauty stuff I've bought but never used
Watch beauty tutorials on YouTube
Wear moisturiser underneath gloves/socks in bed
Sort underwear into matching sets, ditch the grey shiat
Sort workout gear out, so I actually have nice things to wear to the gym
Have a sauna/steam at the gym
Do workout from Workouts App

If you have any other ideas for makeover treatments, please add below!

Would live others to join me. Otherwise I'll carry on, bravely alone Wink, and use this thread for Accountability.

Hello, can I join please?

I haven't had a "pamper" session in a couple of months. Like Clackety, I tend to blitz everything once every two weeks, feel amazing for a few days, and then fall into a state of disrepair. Then start over again. This time around I've been so busy / tired that I have let it go for a few more weeks than usual.

My top lip feels itchy its been that long since I defuzzed. My mono-brow is coming along nicely, too.

I dread to think what I look like. I use a tiny mirror to put my makeup on in the morning, and so never really see the full picture.

My feet are atrocious. I can't afford to get that footner thing, I do have a stone thing in the bathroom but it looks like its been worn smooth, doubt it would take any dry skin off TBH. Any other suggestions as to how to get rid of that disgusting dry heel shite?

My hair is thin and scraggly and needs a deep condition. My nails have polish on it from 2 weeks ago...disgraceful. I have two spots emerging on my forehead. Aunty Flo is due a visit so feeling bloated and generally shit.

I'm off to Boots at lunch. Can anyone suggest a moisturiser for combination skin? I usually get whatever is on offer but would appreciate any recommendations. Also would like to get something to help rid my feet of dry skin?

Clackety · 30/09/2014 12:50

argh any old foot file will do, I isu it on damp or dry skin. I think it's the regularity that makes the difference. Maybe we should keep ours by the loo Grin

ARGHtoAHHH · 30/09/2014 12:53

So, those foot files - do you do it on damp or dry feet? I've never got to grips with it.

Grin @ keeping it next to the bog. Along with 50 copies of The Viz.

ChablisChic · 30/09/2014 13:14

I use my foot file on dry feet before I shower. I read that if you do it after your shower, when the skin is softer, you run the risk of taking off too much. Mine's got two different grades of file on, so you can start with the coarse one, then use the finer one (a bit like sanding down woodwork before you paint!).

Clackety · 30/09/2014 13:28

I sometimes dampen the actual foot file itself first and the skin flakes off.

ARGHtoAHHH · 30/09/2014 14:02

ah, okay. thanks, will aim to sort my hooves out tonight Grin

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 30/09/2014 16:21

whoops sorry, late back and all that but link to aspirin mask I am day 2 of the 7 day diet and feeling ok, sooo much easier when I am not cooking for the rest of the family DS2 gone to uni ds1 fends for himself usually and DH away so diet food is easy, I drink loads of spakling water with lemon or lime juice in, am alcohol free since sunday night Blush am going to bed stupidly early to read as its nicer than sitting in living room on my own. I am sorting through my wardrobes and pairing up some nice outfits, trying to chuck stuff that is awful or does not fit, have organised my scarves and shoes so I can actually see / remember what I have, am still to tackle the handbags and box of toiletries I keep collecting so goodness knows what I will find. I am rubbing vaseline in my nails every night and using a foot cream and my scholl velvet sander foot thingy. Once my nails grow a bit and I stop picking at the edges I intend to get a manicure and pedicre and oh will be buying another of these hair removal as it seems to work well for me when I can be bothered better than veet etc
Thanks for the thread whatsgoingon its making me get my arse in gear

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 30/09/2014 16:26

ARGH the newtons foot file thingy is raved about on other threads its like a small square very hard pumice type thing that you scrub with in the bath, it works but I prefer my soap and glory foor file and a cream every single night, tis the only way.

ARGHtoAHHH · 30/09/2014 16:30

Oh, hello StapAway! Didn't see you there

Went to Boots at lunch but didn't come away with anything for my feet. Will try and pick something up in Tesco on way home from work. Eagle eye out for soap and glory...

ARGHtoAHHH · 30/09/2014 21:59

Well, I'm in bed, pampered, preened and plucked to within an inch of my life

All unwanted facial hair: gone.
All unwanted body hair: gone.
face scrubbed and moisturised.
little blackheads zapped.
hooves filed down and moisturised.
fingernails filed and polished (pinky red).
Toenails trimmed and polished (same colour as fingernails).
Whole body exfoliated and moisturised.

Started back on the 5.2 diet today, so I don't feel bloated and full, don't feel like a pig like I do most nights.

I feel amazing! Thanks to this thread for kicking me up the arse Grin

Whippet81 · 01/10/2014 04:47

I'm in runs onto thread actually waddles in as DS being delivered in two weeks.

Does anyone dye their own eyebrows? What do you use? I'm pretty good at keeping them neat and even had a complement when doing having my nails done the other day so I'm tempted to keep doing them myself as they are very fine so it seems a bit of a waste keep having them waxed and dyed and spending £15 (that could buy me a MAC lipstick/erm nappies).

Also try and fake tan regularly even
If it is just using the Dove moisturiser but I always feel pale again - nothing seems to give me a natural deep colour. Any ideas?

I too have loads of stuff that I haven't use and want to start using it all rather than keep buying new shiny stuff.

I want to work on getting my hair looking wavy as well Confused

Clackety · 01/10/2014 08:31

Argh you're an inspiration!

singaporeswing · 01/10/2014 08:56

I decided to kick myself up the arse this week.

I've had 7 inched chopped off my hair and into an actual style
Moisturised with gradual fake tanner every other day
Done nails on hands and feet - need to do upkeep for chips etc
Booked facial on Friday (cheapo voucher for a decent place on Groupon)

I've also been drinking 2.5 - 3l of water a day.

Stopped drinking coffee - which probably explains this massive headache.

Trying to walk to and from work each day - about 2km - but in the tropics!

ChablisChic · 01/10/2014 09:31

Had an early start as I'm in work today, so couldn't spend too long in the shower this morning. It means I'm well out of the way of temptation on the snack front though - let's hope I can maintain the wine embargo tonight, as it promises to be a stressful day!

My aim for today is to go for a brisk walk at lunchtime, and try to remember to get up and stretch and move around every hour or so. And not drink any more coffee. This could be difficult.

ninawish · 01/10/2014 09:40

ChablisChic · 01/10/2014 09:43

nina I can recommend body brushing. If nothing else, it seems to wake me up in the morning, and IF I remember to do it regularly it does appear to benefit my skin. Go for it!

WhatsGoingOnEh · 01/10/2014 09:49

Oh you're all so brilliant!!!!!! ARGH you are a wonder-woman!

Sorry not to post yesterday, I was walking walking all day. Did every errand on foot, both school runs AND took mum's dog out for an hour.

I need to tan. For a deep colour that lasts, I've come to think that only St Tropez does the job. The lotion is SO good. I've tried St Moritz (super cheap, from Boots and Amazon) and I like it, but it doesn't go as deep or last as long. It's nice though, because a) it's only £3 and b) if you mess it up, it doesn't really show. :)

Why do we all buy so many products we don't use?! Do we buy them when we feel ugly, and that cheers us up, so we then don't bother?!

For eyebrow and lash dyeing, I use a great kit I bought on Amazon. (Though the Dyelash stuff in Boots is good too.) I read you should always buy blue/black dye as it looks the best. I'm a redhead but I use the same dye in my eyebrows - I just wash it off after 1 minute.

I'll try to find the link to the kit I bought. It's good.

Here's the eyelash dye kit I got. I love the tiny brush and the teeny little glass mixing bowl!

I read somewhere that white teeth make you look younger Blush so I've been getting Crest Whitestrips from ebay -- they're AMAZING! But the other day, a friend (with dazzling teeth) recommended UltraDex mouthwash. Apparently it removes all stains within 2 weeks. Waitrose sells it, and it was 1/3 off last week. I'll let you know if it works!

ChablisChic · 01/10/2014 09:58

Morning Whats. Yes, I discovered a tube of facemask in the bathroom the other day, so I shall use that tomorrow morning as I'll have some time. Well done on the walking, keep it up.

ninawish · 01/10/2014 10:01

thanks Chablis I've heard this but keep forgetting to buy one - hopefully life changing WinkWinkWink

ninawish · 01/10/2014 10:02

thanks for those links whatsgoingon I will check the eyebrow and teeth info Grin

Clackety · 01/10/2014 10:45

Thanks for the ultradex recommendation!

ARGHtoAHHH · 01/10/2014 15:44

Just found a face mask! Will be putting that on tonight. Plus deep condition my hair.

Not sure what else I can do after that? Did it all last night! Any suggestions? I want more pampering!

Whippet81 · 01/10/2014 18:20

Thanks WhatsGoingOnEh I'll have a look at that kit - the blue-black sounds scary but if you're redhead and it suits you it must be the way to go.
