What are the things that you never buy?

Mine are.....

Scarves: They seem too grown up to me and a bit Mummy Uniform.

Blouses: No matter what the style or shape I end up looking like Dustin Hoffman in Tootsie.

Lip gloss: Hate the stuff. Wear lip colour every day but never gloss. Bleurgh.

Handbags: I love how they look and drool over the fancy bag threads on here but irl I have one giant one from Primark that is about 6 years old and one 'going out' bag. It never occurs to me to buy more.

Anything black and white: For some unknown and completely irrational reason I hate clothing that is black and white . The colour combo just looks horrible to me.

Anything orange , peach coloured or beigy-pinky flesh coloured.

Anything without a defined waist.

Padded duvet coats/ gilets.

Mid-calf skirts.

Stuff with massive logos/slogans on it.

Floaty stuff/ faux hippy stuff.

Excess detail stuff that my granny would call 'jazzy' e.g. too much bling, too much embroidery, garish buttons.

Walking jackets/ boots unless actually walking up hills.

Bags that are all pouchy and sack-like.

Shoes and sandals that don't have an ankle strap and can just slip off your feet (including flip flops).

SofaCanary · 24/09/2014 13:52

Skirts
Proper trousers
Black handbags
Anything berry coloured

SisterMoonshine · 24/09/2014 13:55

Collars
I dunno, perhaps it's my shoulders or something.

pseudonymity · 24/09/2014 14:36

Annoyingly I struggle with long sleeves. I find I pull at them and try to push them up constantly. A long sleeved t shirt with relatively tight sleeves is a nightmare for me. 3/4 it is. Is it just me?

pseudonymity · 24/09/2014 14:42

I also dislike cord.
Ditto lipgloss, it's sticky, flies will stick to your lips!
I wasn't a trousers person but now I have one really great pair and they've been a revelation, just one though.
I struggle with socks, mess with them constantly if I have them on (see above).
Jeans I find really uncomfortable and can't wait to run upstairs and rip them off.

slug · 24/09/2014 14:57

Shirts with buttons. I am apple shaped with GG norks and biceps honed by years of competitive swimming. Nothing fits therefore I wear stretchy fabrics only on top.

Skinny jeans. The constricted calf feeling is too much for me.

Bags. In theory, I know what I want e.g. big enough to carry a pair of shoes, a lunchbox and closeable to avoid things falling out or being nicked but I can't ever match that with items available for purchase. I have a backpack handbag and a vinyl barrel bag which is rapidly approaching the end of it's life, but, despite haunting the bag threads, nothing ever seems to 'click'.

Round or high necks (see GG norks)

nail varnish. I have an allergy. I can wear it on my thicker hornier toenails but it lasts 10 minutes on my fingernails before i am compelled to remove it.

Boden Their models are so skinny I simply can't visualise anything of theirs on my size 18 apple shaped body.

RockMummy · 24/09/2014 16:10

Anything black/grey/navy. Make me look like a corpse and navy was my school uniform.

Anything with any type of wool in it which might come into contact with my skin. Yes even 5% is too much!

Undies which are impractical, especially thongs.

Night clothes with 'cutsie' pictures on. Last time I looked I was a grown woman!

Quite a lot of things on everyones dislike list are on my 'must have' list.

marymcb · 24/09/2014 16:16

Trousers, don't own any except jeans and never look at them if I'm out shopping.

Black clothes.

Tunic style clothes, it either has to be a dress or a top not something in between.

r2d2ismyidealman · 24/09/2014 16:23

Jewellery real or fake. It takes me back to the 80's every time.

Long jeans or trousers. I go capri or roll up and feel young thin and fun. Anything longer and I feel dated.

Lipstick. I buy one every 2 or 3 years. Use it a bit, forget I have it. It's crazy to have a makeup item that has to be reapplied throughout the day, if mascara had a similar lack of staying power I would also not wear it!!

Fancy jackets - I just want something suitable for the weather and big and roomy. My jackets often come from the louder side of the men's section of TKMaxx. Lovely long arms and body and I don't feel constrained.

Extensions, gel nails, fake tan, nothing that needs extra maintenance.

I have a full wardrobe of good tops, sweaters, scarves and capri trousers and jeans. It's easy and comfortable. (I have too many shoes Blush)

KoalaDownUnder · 24/09/2014 16:36

Forest green, mustard, red, maroon - never wear any of them

scarves - make me feel strangled/claustrophobic

lipstick - don't know how to keep it on, feels horrible, makes me look like a painted doll

gilets - mumsy

heels - am already nearly 6' tall, with v skinny ankles. I feel and look like a tottering fool in them.

Le Pliage bags - ubiquitous, boring, their design just annoys me

pointy-toed flats - make you look like a witch

gold jewellery

Milmingebag · 24/09/2014 16:43

Hate lipgloss. I wear lipstick everyday- none of that lipgloss washy-washy shite.

I never wear jeans, leggings etc.

Wouldn't dream of wearing trainers/hoodies/track suit.

Hate stiletto heels with a passion.

Suits are a no go as are blouses.

I don't like boxy bags and those buggars worn in the crook of your arm.

I will never wear anything that comes from Pandora.

Milmingebag · 24/09/2014 16:47

Oh yes and fleece, bobble hats and perfume that smells of flowers.

Hebburnisaplaceonearth · 24/09/2014 16:47

Never wear leggings, heels or black.

Love scarves though Smile

SuperScribbler · 24/09/2014 16:48

Anything yellow - makes me look sallow and jaundiced.

3/4 length sleeves - too cold for winter, too hot for summer and I constantly want to pull them down or push them up.

Gathered skirts make my hips look massive.

ouryve · 24/09/2014 16:50

Skirts. Enough inbuilt restrictions on my mobility without a tube of fabric adding to them.

Tights. Horrid things. Hate wearing them. Thankfully no need due to the lack of skirts.

Heels higher than about an inch. Just ouch.

Shoes with any sort of pointy toe. Why do people do that to themselves?

Have also given up on make up. I look and feel better without it.

JuniperTisane · 24/09/2014 16:55

Scarves for me too. In fact anything which covers my neck. Makes me claw at it all day long.

Summer clothes. I need structure. Bring on autumn-winter wardrobes.

Hats. Make me look stupid.

Bracelets, watches. Same reason as neck stuff. I want to rip it off all the time.

Plonkysaurus · 24/09/2014 16:58

Heels. All my shoes are flat, preferably comfy boots

Foundation. Clogs my pores, gives me spots and I've never found one that suits my complexion. Being freckly and pale with reddish hair really isn't that rare.

Handbags that you can't put on your shoulder. If it's not hands free I won't use it.

Pop socks. Shudder.

SerenaVDW · 24/09/2014 17:11

Colour. I wear black with occasional grey/white/navy thrown in.

Handbags. I have one day bag, one evening bag and one baby bag. They're all beautiful, weren't cheap and I spent ages choosing them, but I have no desire for any more.

Anything that buttons up the front or zips up the back (tops). I have to go at least three sizes up to accommodate the boobs so it just looks like I'm wearing a sack.

MallowsMiaow · 24/09/2014 17:19

Trainers/sportswear. Just never going to happen.

Badvoc123 · 24/09/2014 17:23

Anything yellow or orange.
Anything pink.
Anything With an animal print.
scarves.
High heels.
Patterned tights...just no.
Trousers
Velvet/courderoy
Any bling
Appliqué
Turtle necks
Cowl necks
Jersey fabric
Jogging bottoms

Plonkysaurus · 24/09/2014 17:27

I'd like to add anything with a gathered stitch. Rouched? Ruched?

Adult onesies.

Anything with what I'd term 'per una' bling stitched and stuck all over it.

Sickly pastels on grown women.

And I agree with lipstick.

KoalaDownUnder · 24/09/2014 17:30

Oh, and 'cold-shoulder' tops.

We are going to look back at those they way we look at the massive shoulder pads from the eighties. Just cringe.

MegMogandOwlToo · 24/09/2014 17:35

Bracelets - I'm just too aware of them whenever I've worn one, so don't bother.

Any trousers other than for work, I just wear jeans for casual.

Long sleeves! I can only wear short sleeves or 3/4 as I hate my wrists feeling restricted (even if the sleeves are loose!) so I push them up to make 3/4 sleeves if I wear a cardigan or jumper with long sleeves.

Make-up - I just don't wear it. Yes I look better with it, but I am no good at applying it and don't want to end up streaky, so I don't bother.

Waxlyrically · 24/09/2014 19:59

Yes to pink, collars, buttons and uncomfortable shoes of any kind. Another hate is mock layered stuff like those pretend blouse under jumper type things Next often sell. Also the dreaded 3/4 sleeve - utterly useless.

Plonkysaurus · 24/09/2014 20:00

I'm a fan of 3/4 length sleeves, but fake layers can fuck off
