And did CDiff survive the wrath of MI? Grin Grin Grin

motherinferior · 20/10/2014 16:55

I was exhaustingly polite and accommodating.

God I'm knackered now! And like you, the work is suddenly piling in....

hattymattie · 20/10/2014 17:03

Gosh I miss 24 hours and there seem to have been hundreds of posts.

Firstly Addle - I'm so sorry to hear about your father - my deepest sympathies. Thanks Thanks Thanks

BTM recipe sounds fab - I'm going to delegate it to DS (gets him off the computer).

On commas - I agree with Stropps and everyone else. Herbs - how are you going to persuade pig headed teacher that she's wrong - maddening!

Herbs - so glad bassooning went relatively smoothly.

Weather has broken here and my energy levels have dipped with it. As it's half term we have a week of doctors appointments and hair cuts ahead

bigTillyMint · 20/10/2014 17:28

Glad the recipe is so popular - it is very delish and hardly calorific at allWink

CointreauVersial · 20/10/2014 17:36

Adding my condolences, Addle. Look after yourself. Thanks

No cooking for me tonight; DS is doing curry at his DofE cookery course. Hoorah. When he gets back at 7pm we will be sitting around the dining table at Chateau Cointreau, knives and forks held aloft in expectation. Grin

lalsy · 20/10/2014 17:46

Mmm, just read the recipe BTM, really like the bung in the mixer aspect - I hate rubbing in for some reason and it has always put me off making shortbread type things.

bigTillyMint · 20/10/2014 17:50

Lalsy, I haven't rubbed in for years - since getting my DAunts old Kenwood when I first moved to London, I have never looked backGrin

CV, post pictures!

lalsy · 20/10/2014 18:01

"I haven't rubbed in for years" - crepey motto? Grin

bigTillyMint · 20/10/2014 18:04
Grin
motherinferior · 20/10/2014 18:27

Matron!

motherinferior · 20/10/2014 18:29

I'm hungry and reading about SPAG hasn't helped. Off to cook spaghetti. Grin. I love spaghetti. And shells. I have an ongoing battle with my fellow-inmates because they like penne, which I always find disappointing. Though those massive tubes are fine.

I quite possibly need to get out more, it's true.

hattymattie · 20/10/2014 18:38

My 16 year old this is it would be good fun to go to London with two of her classmates and stay in a youth hostel. I think this is not a good idea - I think she is naive. Would I be mad crepeys?

lalsy · 20/10/2014 18:48

Mmm, I think 16 is a tad young and central London hostels are not the quiet wholesome places they are in the country, necessarily. Think it is tricky for this age group as it is a good idea for them to do something before they are 18, so they have a bit of experience....Are they a mixed group?

hattymattie · 20/10/2014 18:51

Thanks Lalsy - it's DD and two boys who are very nice boys but I just think they have no idea and although they travel extensively in Paris there are always parents to bring them back in an emergency and they are not there late at night.

bigTillyMint · 20/10/2014 18:53

Hmm, I don't know if I would be all that happy about that for the same reasons as Lalsy. I would be fine with them staying with a family I knew though - is that a possibility? Or youth hostelling in the countryside (as I did with a friend after O'levels!)

bigTillyMint · 20/10/2014 18:54

Are all YH rooms mixed these days or would they be in single sex rooms?

lalsy · 20/10/2014 18:56

When dd has been away with friends (once when 16, once when 18), I think I worried less because it was a mixed group. I also think London is a relatively safe city at night and easy to travel around as everywhere is usually packed - but I don't think I'd want to be so far away just in case. what sort of things might they like to do?

hattymattie · 20/10/2014 18:57

Gosh BTM - hadn't even thought about the single sex room aspect which would mean she was separate from her friends. I think DD and I are going to be having words.

lalsy · 20/10/2014 19:02

Dorms are single sex, BTM, but you can usually book small private rooms too.

herbaceous · 20/10/2014 19:15

I've just had some gnicky gnacky gnocchi. Forgotten how much I like it, and gets around the whole 'wheat' problem.

Exhaustipated after another day of having my head filled with pegadogic theory. Unless pedagogic already means teaching theory. I no longer care. Included terrifying session with the 'academic writing centre', which seemed to be telling us to write in the most arcane and pompous manner possible, concealing our actual meaning behind a load of code words and circumlocution. Pfffft.

bigTillyMint · 20/10/2014 19:16

Couldnt they go to Reading festival instead?!
Or do they want to go asap?

beachyhead · 20/10/2014 19:17

Sorry to hear about your ddad, Addle.

bigTillyMint · 20/10/2014 19:17

Is gnocci just potato then? No wheat mixed in?

hattymattie · 20/10/2014 19:27

BTM - I don't think they've heard of the Reading festivalSmile. This visit is supposedly to have a little look at the London uni's.

I don't like gnocchi - I feel I'm eating lumps of rubber.

Stropperella · 20/10/2014 19:40

Currently snarfing wholewheat farfalle with watercress and wasabi pesto. I think I must be lacking in some mineral that is in wasabi - I just cannot get enough of the stuff. Yum. Lidl do a particularly fine line in wasabi-coated almonds. Mmmm.
LOL @ your course in arcane and pompous writing, Herbs. Learn to revel in the jargon - it's the only way. Grin I have spent today writing guff and I feel a bit mashed in the brains dept. My fault for leaving it all to the last minute. I ought to be going to bed in about an hour if I have to get up at stupid o'clock, but I'm still not quite done with my hw. I reckon ds has got NU's bug - he's not usually laid so low by a tummy bug, but he has been barfing all day, poor little chap. He's not been sick for about 3 hours now, so may be over the worst. I hope I do not get struck down, partic not when I am driving tomorrow. Maybe I should take a bucket in case. (bleargh)
