Another coat, Herbs Shock

I'm back in town, on my way to lovely Greenwich to meet a friend. All go round here.

My children will never be scouted. Grin The two who are good are not keen and the one who is keen is not particularly good! Still she is persistent, so persistence may out. Normally does for her.

herbaceous · 13/10/2014 18:59

Another coat, yes, but to replace two or three existing numbers!

NUFC69 · 13/10/2014 20:34

Thanks for all the good wishes.

I am being terrorised by a big fat hairy spider which has sprinted across the carpet and taken refuge under the television. Shock I am not a happy bunny. DH can't find it and doesn't seem bothered. I am afraid if I see it again and DH doesn't catch it and put it outside, it will be going to the great web in the sky!

bigTillyMint · 13/10/2014 20:41

I don't mind spiders. Birds and mice/rats and bats however...

lalsy · 13/10/2014 21:17

Snap, BTM. I quite like spiders. We had a rat infestation once and I'm not really over it.

Oh poor you NU. I think badminton is quite hard on the knees, and involves twisting too. I have been told you have to be careful about running.

Stropperella · 13/10/2014 21:34

Lalsy, the vision of you trotting to the charity shop on your "craplit, begone" mission made me Grin
NU, sorry to hear about your knee. Hope it settles down and surgery will not be required.
BTM, well done to your ds and how admirable that he is so levelheaded about it.
MI, how was Sunday?
Drove over 3 hrs in foul weather this afternoon to get to db's. Hoping it will be better tomorrow.

Stropperella · 13/10/2014 21:40

BD, does your ds play boccia? Is that not cool bowls for young persons?

Stropperella · 13/10/2014 21:47

Ooh BTM, how did the 6th form visit go?

CointreauVersial · 13/10/2014 22:26

Strops - is your DB in this neck of the woods??

Monty - I have been to St Ives several times and never bumped into IK. Or anyone else famous, for that matter (although Dave C appeared on the beach at Polzeath in his overstuffed wetsuit the day after we were there). I also followed the Pig to Twig diet, which worked wonders, although there has been rather too much Pig in recent months. Blush

And I'm mortally offended at these aspersions being cast about me being the drunkard on the train. Shock Shock Grin Moi? (for some reason I'm reminded of a thread I saw recently about how every workplace has a resident pain-in-the-arse, who everyone moans about behind their backs. If you don't think your workplace has one, it's you.Grin )

Stropperella · 13/10/2014 22:29

Yup, CV, Ashtead.

Blackduck · 14/10/2014 06:10

:)

Donno Stropps the Bowls is a new thing so we'll see how it goes.....

It was hideous weather here yesterday so if it was the same there the drive must have been awful. It has chucked it down all night.

Here I have RE homework - all on spiritualism .......

Sorry to hear about knee NU - I have a lovely bruise on mine where I slipped over on Saturday (before meeting the crepeys) should I sue the Festival Hall?

motherinferior · 14/10/2014 08:09

Ah yes, Sunday. I am still v angry with my dad and not impressed with his general demeanour. My mum is being surprisingly stoic and even more surprisingly is knitting herself in with the various support groups, helplines and so on. Aged aunt was also there. I sneaked rather a lot of red wine down my throat and have warned DSis she is going to need a liver transplant if she goes to stay during the chemo....

I have turned duty meet up with another aged uncle (well, not my uncle, he married my mother's second cousin, I think it wasGrin) into lunch at the splendid nearby Indian restaurant (he now lives in Canada so won't compare everything to Bangalore). Grin

NUFC69 · 14/10/2014 08:44

Sorry, MI, that's rubbish. It's good that DM is taking all the support she can, though.

I am feeling absolutely rubbish, I had a really bad night and then when I woke up finally it was to D&V. Sad Of course today is the day we have the GC, so we've cancelled that, much to DGS's disgust as DH was taking him to the motor museum. DSoniL is poorly, too, with some kind of throat bug, so he is looking after the DGC now.

bigTillyMint · 14/10/2014 08:46

Glad it went OKish MI.

No idea what the sixth form was like yesterday as she wasn't speaking to me. However she apologised this morning and is off to another tonight so maybe I will hear later on!

Feeling a bit battered by the unrelentlessness of family life and not being able to hear (which is causing them all to get pissed off with meConfused) Only 2 weeks to half term...

Rosebag · 14/10/2014 09:00

Just kidding with ya CV ...at least you were awake enough to get off at the next stop and didn't end up in Timbuktu Grin
Maybe bowls is going to be the new " in " sport. Our flat in Sussex backs on to the bowls club and DH, old git that he is, has had a few lessons. They take it all very seriously, but seem to have a real blast...lots of eating and drinking between tournaments and fierce rivalry and swearing....there are certainly a few youngsters in the team.
MI perhaps your Ddad needs a few practical jobs to do to jerk him out of his misery. Men tend to feel useless if they haven't something comcrete to do and if DM ( and all credit to her) is all mobilised and doing stuff he hasn't a lot of choice but to weep on the sidelines. My DH was so much better when he had errands and chores, somehow. Just a thought. Thanks

Yes tilly how did Dd like the sixth form college?

I am sitting in Starbucks in sainsbury waiting for the darn heel bar to open...thought it would be 8am. It not open yet. Have eaten a croissant as a result Angry
And particularly Angry overspilt from last night when I typed up a complete ( and I thought brilliant) opening scene called ' Breaking the Ice' for the play.... And then somehow deleted it...the whole damn thing. However much I brave this new world of technology, and I've come a long way...I will always be a fxxking tourist..... Confused

motherinferior · 14/10/2014 09:01

Oh, NU, how vile for you.

I would like it on record that (a) I have conducted a grey and damp Ladyjog (b) MY VISA HAS ARRIVED!!!!!! Grin Grin Grin Grin

Rosebag · 14/10/2014 09:02

Concrete

Rosebag · 14/10/2014 09:09

Hurrah MI !!

Blackduck · 14/10/2014 09:13

Hoorah MI!

Here I feel like I am drowning in work - I am really not on top of it and think I am losing the plot a bit.....

bigTillyMint · 14/10/2014 11:16

Great news on the visa MI!

NU/anyone who goes to USA, do we need any special visas or anything to go to New York in a years time?!

cremolafoam · 14/10/2014 11:23

Hooray MI , delighted!!!

Rosebag, have you looked in the recycle bin on your desktop. It's probably hiding in there, if you saved it. So sorry if not.

NU and now a wretched virus by the sounds of it. You poor sausage. Take it easy.

Herbs that raincoat is pretty bargainous , now I think about it. I hope it turns out to be 'The One'
I struggled round the Kings Road yesterday with my brolly , the whole time wishing I'd brought the Ugly Raincoat. You can't win can you?

I am at my desk pondering several crises that happened while I was away. Much fallout and some minor ranting may ensue. Angry

herbaceous · 14/10/2014 11:41

I'm reckoning with the new school, and its 20-minute walk to and from, a Proper Raincoat will stand me in good stead. Now all I've got to do is decide which others to ebay...

MollyAir · 14/10/2014 14:17

Rose, we have a man called ComputerGuy who comes round at short notice to rescue us from computer cock-ups like the one you describe. He doesn't charge too much. And is a very pleasant life-saver. Probably better to have a local one - plenty of them around - but you can have the details of mine if desperate!

herbaceous · 14/10/2014 15:56

My crazed spending continues. I've just spent £37 in Matalan on a pair of jeans, a cardi and five pairs of socks. The jeans were a size 12 - woooot - and sorely needed, as anyone who saw my gaping waistband on Saturday will attest...

NUFC69 · 14/10/2014 17:36

Well done, Herbs, I would love to be a size 12!

I was last sick half way through the morning, but have slept most of the day with Nucat on the end of the bed. We had a very spicy Pad Thai last night and I now think that it has upset my gall bladder less body.

BTM, you will all need ESTAs to enter the States: I think they cost £10 and are valid for two years. If, when you are on the Internet looking for the form, they want to charge you more, you are not on the US government website. When you get to Immigration they see you as a family and take photos of everyone, plus fingerprints. These days we find the staff very pleasant if a bit abrupt. Where are you thinking of going?
