Here you go Crepesters...

OP posts:
hattymattie · 02/10/2014 16:56

Sympathies on the dreadful travelling Stropps - sounds vile.

motherinferior · 02/10/2014 17:00

My hair needs serious attention. Especially before I go to India and am surrounded by stunning rellies. Will incite your assistance and advice next week.

NU, I'm sure there's a piece in the 'story of a bed' for a Family page of various newspapers...

bigTillyMint · 02/10/2014 17:02

Grin at greying cauliflower look! It looked great the last time I saw you. And yours, MI.

Stropperella · 02/10/2014 17:20

Eh, one thing I will be happy about when the weather breaks (this w/e?) is that I will not hear so much from the parrot that lives next door but one. In warm weather, he obviously sits near the open loft window and, well, parrots. Endless bloody wolf-whistles is one thing, but when I had my epic hedgecutting marathon, he taught himself to sound like a hedgetrimmer. The sound of hedgecutters is fairly annoying. The sound of a parrot imitating a hedgecutter is quite a lot more annoying when you are trying to work. Grrr.

bigTillyMint · 02/10/2014 18:30

Grin Only you would have a hedgetrimming parrot next door, Stropps!

I have just spent an hour in the car. Dropping DS to get the train to footy and then to get DD and her mate and drop back from school (as they stayed late to work) I probably only did 5 milesAngry

NUFC69 · 02/10/2014 20:03

BTM, it's the waste of time which is so annoying.

I think I have said before that we used to have a resident peacock (a fox caught him unfortunately). He used to sun himself on the garage roof: one of the funniest things I have ever seen was Nucat jumping up there, surprising the peacock who rattled his tail feathers at him. The cat leapt of the roof at a rate of knots. Grin

cremolafoam · 02/10/2014 20:35

Am pmsl at these crazy birds. Did I ever tell you about our mobility impaired magpie?Grin

originalpiratematerial · 02/10/2014 22:48

Hello crepey people Smile. I have been a MIA crepey for varicose reasons but I had to come back to tell you I bought a fab mac in Banana Republic today. I'm not too sure about Banana Republic - it's very sort of normcore isn't it - but I really like the mac. I have to go for a third (third!) interview tomorrow so may wear it over my super-smart dress.

Hopefully I may at some stage get five mins to myself to try and catch up with you all. But this working from home whilst doing everything else and nursing DH is getting to me, a bit. Especially when he commented on me not filling the birdbath Hmm.

cremolafoam · 02/10/2014 23:34

OPM lovely to see you. If there is any chance at all of you coming to the meetup on the 11th we'd love to have you thereSmile

Just seen Pride and was blown away Grin SO good .

bigTillyMint · 03/10/2014 06:49

Cremo, I want to go and see that - maybe I will force DH into it on Saturday night when he gets back from the footy!

Yes OPM, next Saturday? Good Luck for your third interview!

Auriga · 03/10/2014 07:45

NU, you reminded me of a sight I saw in France years ago, a little vignette of futility; a peacock displaying to a ginger cat.

No creature could have been less impressed than that cat.

NUFC69 · 03/10/2014 10:04

Auriga, "our" peacock used to display to anything - me, DH, the neighbours, pigeons. I do miss him - he had strayed from one of the big houses and ended up in our cul de sac. Everybody fed him and looked out for him. DH, on the other hand, welcomes being able to garden without losing any nice new green shoots.

I have given in: am going to see the nurse practitioner later on.

hattymattie · 03/10/2014 10:34

I wish I had a peacock - although I think I'd need a castle or something with substantial grounds to go with it.

I'm currently waiting for the boiler man who has a reputation for never turning up. I am beginning to despair. Off to see DD at uni tomorrow and take the rest of her gear. Hope the weather holds out.

motherinferior · 03/10/2014 10:40

I am going to Aldi, because that's the sort of cutting-edge glamorous life I lead. I know.

Rosebag · 03/10/2014 11:37

NU I am impressed…Sadie the bra lady got the parcel to me this morning…I only ordered it yesterday afternoon!!! I am always resolving not to put my bras in the washing machine and dryer…but I never stick to it.

OPM how is your DH? I think working from home is not always the panacea that people think. I've never done well with the blurring of the edges between the professional and the domestic…and the kids not treating one's work as real work iyswim… Good luck with the interview!
I escaped for the morning to a local posh hotel for breakfast with a friend and left DD, who has an INSET day home alone. How deliciously negligent. At least she's done her science homework. I must neglect my kids more often Grin

bigTillyMint · 03/10/2014 12:11

Hatty, I have forgotten which one your DD has gone to, but the weather is due to break here tomorrowSad

Being small in the bra department has it's plus-points - I can wear any cheapo bras!

MontserratCaballe · 03/10/2014 12:37

Hello crepeys

Sorry I have not been around. Awful week at work, topped off with vile sore throat/ head / ears. Had to take a day off yesterday, which seems to have made me feel a bit better though I am a bit weepy today. I will try to catch up over the next couple of days.

Hope everyone is well and look forward to seeing some crepeys next Saturday Smile.

hattymattie · 03/10/2014 12:44

BTM - I know I saw weather forecast - it's a real shame as it is so beautiful here today.Sad

Still waiting for the boiler man grr - am assured he is on his way.

hattymattie · 03/10/2014 12:46

Montry (sorry reading up the page) hope you're feeling better - these little bugs make us feel so wretched.

bigTillyMint · 03/10/2014 13:12

Hatty, it's nice over here today too!

Monty, that sounds like the bug I had and DD appears to be going down with. Horrid.

Rosebag · 03/10/2014 13:20

OH poor you Monty. Theres' so many awful bugs around. Take heart..it will pass Thanks

herbaceous · 03/10/2014 13:37

Aaaaaand it begins. Just had first nagging email from mother about what we're doing at Christmas. She needs to know in order to book cat into cattery. Or not. Already?

motherinferior · 03/10/2014 13:48

It begins here too wrt CDiff. I have just had some copy through with PLEASE DO NOT CHANGE on it. Fine, fine, fine, no skin off my nose. But it's too long - the instructions were also 'each section should fit on a page' so I ring and say please cut it down at your end to 600 words max. I've just had a sulky email from the Patronising Child saying XXX piece was 800 words...yes it was, originally, and I had to cut the bugger at design stage. If I commission a three-page feature I usually ask for 1,200 words for this mag. Why oh WHY does she always claim she knows better than I do when this is my JOB? Seriously, could someone tell me? Do you think she thinks I am just being difficult? Or that I am really stupid (this is entirely likely, that she thinks it, I mean)?

QueenQueenie · 03/10/2014 13:54

Mi, reading your post made me think of my teenagers (I DON't mean you are being teenagerish) in that it is a waste of your energy and considerable intelligence wondering about the whys and the wherefores... I think you might try treating her like a difficult teenager.

  1. Detach
  2. Stick purely to the facts
  3. Detach
  4. Respond with a slightly puzzled but courteous air to her madness / rudeness
  5. Detach

Well it (sometimes) works with mine!

Herbs, was it your parents who went off on a holiday despite medical worries or am I crepily confused?!
