on my hands?? really dry skin around my nails (hangnails?). wondering if a soak in footner would see it off?

It would be so so gross!

Stealthpolarbear · 21/09/2014 21:46

No no no
Stick a really good cream on overnight

Pompbear · 21/09/2014 21:53

really? I spent the last month or so really working on my hands and it sort if helped but not massively. the skin around my nails is awful. so I thought just my finger tips in.... no???!

I have seen it mentioned on here about vaseline on the fingers/nails at night helps. If you do try it on your hands come back and lets us know how it goes even then I think I might still be scared to try.

PuppyMummy · 21/09/2014 22:44

I have really dry skin that gets quite ragged round my nails, I find rubbing a generous amount of Elizabeth Arden 8hr cream into the tips of each finger (leave any excess) at night before I go to sleep really helps.

SecretSpy · 22/09/2014 07:05

my hands get in a right mess and I tend to pick the skin next to the nails.

When I occasionally get the urge to make it better I exfoliate with vegetable oil and sugar as a scrub then slather on a rich cream regularly. It does work.

itsbetterthanabox · 22/09/2014 19:26

Try a daily cuticle remover cream instead. One with AHA. It will break down the dead skin and stop it getting bad. Use cuticle oil everyday day too.

Pompbear · 22/09/2014 20:11

I've tried all of that, a day or 2 off and I'm back to claws! sod it, I'm going to try it (in the name of science/stupidity).

If you are going to do it use the cheaper purederm version here then its not an expensive mistake! It works as good as footner by all accounts.

Tinkerisdead · 22/09/2014 21:04

And come back and tell me if it worked cos i'm tempted now!

Futurebird · 22/09/2014 21:09

Oh please share, with photos....

Pompbear · 22/09/2014 21:12

thedoc, I've gone a step further. 99p from Singapore.. It could be anything. But feck it they're only hands right?

I'm kind of tempted to use Footner all over my body.
Be a bit hideous to start with but I could be really beautiful underneath.

Futurebird · 22/09/2014 21:26

I am lolling my arse off at this

Kundry · 22/09/2014 21:34

Use a cream with urea in it - usually marketed as foot cream. 10% urea is plenty - hands will be amazing.

Footner - do you really want to be dripping flakes off your hands for days?

Tinkerisdead · 24/09/2014 10:39

99p from singapore you say, where have you seen this acid? Point me to it!

And get yourself a pair of gloves. You may look like a mime artist whilst it remains so warm and sunny but im nominating you as the hand footner guinea pig now!

Pompbear · 28/09/2014 19:50

eBay is your friend Doctor! right, tonight is the night. If I don't report back it probably means I've dissolved my hands and am unable to type...

OP posts:
Pompbear · 28/09/2014 21:40

all done! everything seems ok!

OP posts:
Pompbear · 29/09/2014 16:16

well my hands feel.... odd. kind of like I'm wearing those thin, baggy plastic gloves you get with home hair dye so I'm told.

so imagine its worked, just waiting for the magical moment when my skin starts to peel. might work from home for a few days if its bad. actually should have timed it better, cool truck for halloweenShock

ArgyMargy · 29/09/2014 17:15

Oooh you are brave! I am in awe (& just a bit scared for you..!)

Tinkerisdead · 30/09/2014 13:51

Oh my i'm genuinely excited! About this. Im hoping its a manicure revelation, like the paraffin wax you dip your hands in but more gruesome and softening.

Bravo for being the guinea pig!

Pompbear · 30/09/2014 15:43

me too! fingertips look incredibly dry and scaly today.... really hoping for a good result!
