Are these Awful?

Wanted some black ankle boots this year which are flat and quite short - ie don't come too far up beyond ankle. To wear mainly with (cuffed) skinnies.

Tried these on yesterday.

They are very comfortable and I like buckle but wonder if they are too short and will look frumpy/ like pixie boots or worse on.

Honest opinions welcomed.

Well, they look very comfortable. I have a pair of Geox shoes and they are so soft and cushiony!

I probably wouldn't buy them myself but I wouldn't think "ick and yuck" if I saw them on someone else.

Nancy66 · 18/09/2014 17:04

they're semi frumpy. I've seen a lot worse

pinkfrocks · 18/09/2014 17:04

They are a bit Pixie like TBH though might look nicer in the flesh.

pinkfrocks · 18/09/2014 17:07

what about the ones called Leslie- still pixie-ish but more stylish? though pointy so not sure if they would be comfy

mymummademelistentoshitmusic · 18/09/2014 17:09

Not for me but they could look good with the right outfit.

polyhymnia · 18/09/2014 19:23

Thanks.
Just bumping for any more views from the evening crowd.

They would Ithink look like boats on my size 8s, having said that I love Geox.

Oly4 · 18/09/2014 19:46

I think they're awful, sorry. I'm looking for some short boots to wear with skirts. So far the shops have turned up nada!!

ThatBloodyWoman · 18/09/2014 19:48

I think they could be awful, but could be perfectly ok with the right clothes and attitude.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 18/09/2014 20:00

I don't like them - they are that bit too frumpy IMO.

Milmingebag · 18/09/2014 20:01

They are grim.

amy83firsttimer · 18/09/2014 20:02

Try rocket dog for similar but less frumpy and also cheaper.

polyhymnia · 18/09/2014 20:23

I can probably do the attitude
but what clothes would go ? As said, I had skinnies in mind, with long tops and, often, parka. Will check out Rocket Dog.

OP posts:
ThatBloodyWoman · 18/09/2014 20:27

I think parkas, skinnies and the right tops would carry them -obviously not bling princess diva, but something a bit more grunge!

Soon as you put anything M&S anywhere near them -yer fucked Grin

theidsalright · 18/09/2014 20:48

I think they've reasonably nice. I know the look you have in mind! They Remind me of those camper ones with the lace that criss crosses up the boot-do you know them? I agree that if you have big feet they might emphasise it though.

I feel your pain having just returned 400quid worth of flat boots to asos. Fail fail fail.

theidsalright · 18/09/2014 20:53

They used to make these in leather. These totally work with black tights or with jeans and a parka.

ouryve · 18/09/2014 20:58

They'd go with exactly what you have in mind. I'm looking for something similar to wear with similar! Those look too narrow for me and the sole is definitely too unstable, though. I need more support if I'm to avoid falling over at inopportune moments Blush

mooth · 18/09/2014 21:00

Don't like them.

ThatBloodyWoman · 18/09/2014 21:02

theids -like them a lot!

Goldenlab · 18/09/2014 21:03

The are a bit awful. But I have got some practically identical that I bought two years ago. I never worked out what to wear with them. So they sit in the wardrobe and wait.

SarcyMare · 18/09/2014 21:04

they look very comfortable, i would consider them for a job where i was standing up all day, or for city breaks where i knew i would be walking miles.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 18/09/2014 21:26

Christ on a bike. They are hideous. Sorry but they are some of the worst boots I've seen, in all of the many boots threads on here over the years!

ouryve · 18/09/2014 21:26

Those rocket dog ones look nice. Some of their stuff actually fits me and doesn't hurt!

I do need something semi-smart, so given that I have some of their stuff already, I will probably try some of these - not edgy, but there's nothing edgy about me not being able to walk

And, at £40, I'm rather tempted by these. Not leather, but I wouldn't want to wear them every day, anyhow.
