Over the knee boots?

I have a flat pair which have been a winter staple for last few years, they're only ever so slightly pantomime and their flatness prevents any trace of mutton.

BUT

I'm very tempted by these tight, heeled jobbies to be worn over skinnies. What do you reckon - sex worker, or chic?

I wouldn't say sex worker -- but I wouldn't say chic.

I think over knee boots can work if you have thin thighs. I don't so I won't be buying any.

elephanteraser · 14/09/2014 14:43

they're nice

PetalToTheMetal · 14/09/2014 14:53

I've got some from about 5 years ago. I like them. Apart from looking good they keep your knees lovely and warm in the cold weather.

50ShadesOfSummer · 14/09/2014 14:57

I have a pair of over the knee boots with a block heel of about 3". I love them. I wear over skinnies but also with tights.

I also have a suede flat pair and I don't think the heeled ones look any more sex-worker than the flat ones.

SofaCanary · 14/09/2014 16:26

Think I'd actually prefer them in suede but can't find any that aren't £££££

I thought these looked ok ASOS

AmberNectarine · 14/09/2014 16:32

Oh sorry you wanted heels - ignore me

ThisBitchIsResting · 14/09/2014 16:40

Those Dune ones are fab , they'd look so good with a good plain dark coat. The asos ones look weird to me - I like the suede ness but not the shape of the foot part iyswim, too clompy. And not over blue jeans! Super fine stretch black or maybe grey super skinnies, or opaques with short jumper dress I think. I think you need to cover your bum if that makes sense, so a long coat or jumper or dress, never jeans with pockets on show.

I had some over the knee flat fake suede ones I got from a cheapo local boutique a few years ago for £40, they looked fab until the rain trashed them. I'd love a leather pair, and agree that heels don't automatically make them sex workery, more what you wear them with.

SofaCanary · 14/09/2014 16:42

Haha, s'ok Amber keep your eyes peeled for a 3" version.

Got a feeling those Dune ones are only going to cover the knee, not go over it to thigh, the look a bit on the short side to me.

That's exactly the look I was going for ThisBitch agree about keeping the bum covered, anything too short on top and you risk straying into Shirley Carter territory!

have you see these www.tamaramellon.co.uk/legging-boots/

Ifem · 14/09/2014 16:57

Love flat over the knee boots - have lived in them the last two winters.

Not convinced about high heeled ones, though. Think you'd have to have a very polished, classic, expensive look in general not to look a bit street walker ish.

SofaCanary · 14/09/2014 17:16

OMG, those Tamara Mellon things are ridiculous!

OP posts:
specialsubject · 14/09/2014 17:19

I'm just staggered (as I would be if I wore them) at Jimmy Choo's definition of 'mid-heel'!!!

SofaCanary · 14/09/2014 18:12

There's no way these things are 3.5" more like 5.5!

FauxFox · 14/09/2014 18:34

I want some in black suede with a mid-height block heel, for some reason suede de-sexworkers thigh boots quite a bit imo, not so shiny and wipe clean Grin

My shortlist to see irl so far is:
river island too short?
office too clumpy?
office too flat?
new look too cheap?
dune not sure about heel shape or slouch fit
camuto too skinny fit?
dune Pricey
dune half elastic...not sure
schuh winning so far based on screen appeal.

I have been giving this serious thought this afternoon Smile

SofaCanary · 14/09/2014 19:52

Agree the Schuh ones are probably the best of the bunch.

Zara has these but the top is a bit gaping or something www.zara.com/uk/en/woman/shoes/long-leather-boot-c269191p2200066.html

ThisBitchIsResting · 14/09/2014 20:14

I like the River Island ones best, then the Dune ones with the elastic - both have a nice heel shape. Not too keen on the buckles on the Schuh ones.

ThisBitchIsResting · 14/09/2014 20:15

The Zara ones look a bit panto. Always a risk with OTK boots if not fitted enough!

Redrosesarethebest · 14/09/2014 21:34

I have a grey pair from russell and Bromley on the way after seeing them on their autumn/winter photo campaign, I just don't know now what to wear them with! Grin

leedy · 14/09/2014 21:37

I am still boggling at the "legging boots". They're like a leather version of those baby pyjama trousers with feet.

lordnoobson · 14/09/2014 21:41

Ooh. I found some today in next. All fake but great for skinny legs wyth a stretch panel. 58£

Twinklestein · 14/09/2014 22:27

Definitely sex worker, partly the heel and partly because they look cheap.

But I like the principle.
