Over the knee boots?

SofaCanary · 14/09/2014 14:22

I have a flat pair which have been a winter staple for last few years, they're only ever so slightly pantomime and their flatness prevents any trace of mutton.

BUT

I'm very tempted by these tight, heeled jobbies to be worn over skinnies. What do you reckon - sex worker, or chic?

I have been considering a pair of over the knee boots too, haven't tried any on IRL, but will soon. Saw a picture of Emmanuelle Alt wearing a pair, and they looked fab...of course she looks fab wearing anything, so maybe that was it.

I think if they are flat, or have a block heel it takes away the element of sex worker, but I really on,y think they veer there if they are black patent! Also agree that what you wear with them makes a big difference.

SofaCanary · 14/09/2014 22:56

Alt planted the seed in my head too, damn her and her style!

Weren't they very fashionable five years ago? Are they back?

lordnoobson · 15/09/2014 07:41

Oh no. Karen miller are whore boots. It's the heel

lordnoobson · 15/09/2014 07:49

Here are the next ones. Are very long. And I have long slim legs (so the elastic us good). Also think the price good as aren't exactly an every day item. www.next.co.uk/x542286s5?utm_source=google&utm_medium=product_search&utm_campaign=googleps&gclid=CNGCj6nQ4sACFQcHwwodzr8AsA#673853x54

Fancy wearing with this that I also saw. And black thin jeans www.next.co.uk/X542092s4#698304X54

I think the pirate style ones with a cuff and pointed toe are very five years ago, but the classic, slightly rounder toed, flat or low heel ones are gorgeous.

They're very flattering to the slim of leg, too - avoids the welly boot look that normal knee boots can give us skinny of calf-ers.

noddyholder · 15/09/2014 10:13

I love those boots have 2 pairs of over knee and they are so flattering.

noddyholder · 15/09/2014 10:20

The marks ones are v slim too and long.

Lonelynessie · 15/09/2014 12:27

I love them, they are my winter go to boots. Loving this thread too!

The problem I have is that I have quite 'shapely' legs, although they are not large, I have really skinny ankles in comparison. On most of the pairs I had last year they slipped down, and bunched at the ankles meaning I ended up hoicking my boots up all the time.

Hopefully this year I'll find a pair or two that don't slip down, and are also tall enough (I prefer them to sit a bit higher above the knee)

SofaCanary · 15/09/2014 13:11

I've ordered the Dune ones in the opening post, I shall report back.

Oooh, I love the New Look ones! Cheap, but that suits my budget. Not sure they'd fit, though - I'm only 5'2" and have been assuming that over the knee boots just won't work on me. Might go try those on, though.

Twinklestein · 17/09/2014 14:15

Just saw these in TKMaxx.

lordnoobson · 17/09/2014 17:35

heels are a no here

#hookerlook

Twinklestein · 17/09/2014 17:50

The OP said she wants some over the knee heeled boots. They are hooker boots that's the point of them - that's why they're edgy. But the key is to get some that don't look so cheap as to be actual sex worker on the beat, and wear them over jeans as in the OP.

All of the examples in the OP are high heels, so if you only like Next over the knee flat boots then this thread isn't for you...

lordnoobson · 17/09/2014 17:53

you might be more Beverly Callard than edgy

SofaCanary · 17/09/2014 18:37

The verdict is in on the Dune ones in the OP - floppy, flimsy and fucking disappointing.

Now granted, my legs are on the slender side but these things were just downright baggy, saggy and cheap looking - the only remotely 'stretch' bit was around the top but I have my doubts that they'd be able to stay in place with slipping down after more than 10 steps. Even Bev Callard would turn her nose up at them.

They looked so promising too, {sighs}. I need to drop the idea now as I can see me having a rather large and possibly fatal accident in Net-a-Porter Shock

They're not for me, not my style all...

Now get back to your blue leopard print.

lordnoobson · 17/09/2014 19:41

i love Russels and Bromley one..everytime Im near store I go in an touch them LOL..but the money is just crazy...shall i or shall I not lol

MidlandsGirl · 08/12/2014 12:48

I bought some flat over the knee boots in black (faux) leather a couple of years ago, I wear with leggings, jeggings, all length of skirts, and have almost worn them to death – shopping, work, church, everywhere.
No adverse comments at all.
They are starting to get a bit baggy around the ankles now so I will be looking at for replacements for next winter.
If the OP wants well over the knee heeled boots, my DH found what I wanted at Fernando Berlin – def not cheap but really good quality and I do feel chic not at all sex worker – like everything, it depends what you wear them with.
