The Autumn 2014 Boots for Skinny Calves Thread

I know this topic comes up a lot but thought a thread about what styles are out there right now might be fun.

I have 35 cm calves, which means it's almost impossible to find boots in shops that fit me. However, I did find a pair of flat plain boots at M&S the other day that are OK:

Pretty boring, and they're not tight as gloves, but they don't gap too much and look pretty good on my legs with skinny jeans.

I'm considering these from Duo:

But I hate not being able to try them on, first, for that sort of money. (Can you send them back?)

Anyway, I'd love to hear about any narrow calve boots you've seen out there recently.

Dune boots tend to fit me well.

How skinny are your calves?

They sure are! They're suede, though. I may get another leather pair. I just want boots with heels.

I have Duo boots. If there is any way of getting in to one of their shops to try them on, then do. Mine are lovely but they came out a bit big on the foot (I have the Beaumont), so I wear socks inside them.
Camper tend to be narrower, but they may not be your style.

I went to the store that sells Duo... and they weren't great. There were a couple of styles (forget which brands, now) that were OK. But I want boots that actually have no real visible gap.

In the meantime, I have bought thick knee highs and leg warmers at primark to layer with tights. That may help with a couple of pairs that I have.

Watching this thread with interest. I'm looking for some Frye Campus type boots that won't look like wellies on my 33cm calves.

Someone needs to invent calf pads to go inside jeans and tights

I also have 35cm calves, and haven't looked back since discovering Duo Boots 4 years ago. You could also try www.thebootmakers.com as they also do similar sizing to Duo.

I'd be very interested to hear if anyone knows where you can buy ankle boots for slim legs - I'd love to wear ankle boots with dresses, but they're all too wide at the top.

I've had some successes with boots from Dune.

I'm surprised at how wide boots are. I understand that people come in all shapes and sizes, but I don't think my legs are extraordinarily skinny. I'm 5'10" and my calves are actually rounded and muscular. (Calf shape is genetic, much to the chagrin of body builders who are born with skinny calves. Mine have rounded muscles but some people, no matter how strong they are, will not grow outwards.) While my forearms are definitely stick-like, I honestly don't think my legs are at all. So, I know that there must be many other women like me.

Oh! I forgot to say that I bought some leg warmers at Primark to try and I was very pleased with the result. One of my pairs of boots are still too wide but another pair work very well with leg warmers. They look great layered over tights in combination with a miniskirt and a longish jumper. I think I may knit some more. A friend told me that she does that, and doesn't knit the entire length. "Just like a cuff or dickie for your legs!"

I also tried them over some ankle boots and really liked the look.

I like the look because I can show off plenty of thigh between the knees and the miniskirt and with thick tights and all that wool going on, it doesn't look mutton dressed as lamb.

I think I'm 37. A 7 rings a bell. I quite like the marks ones. Nice and long too

They're gorgeous and the sizing information indicates they'll fit 33-37cm legs. And they're down to one pair in my size! Alas... this is not the right moment to splash out on pricey boots.

The duo ones I tried last year didn't fit. They were ok on the calf but the shoe part was massive up to a point just above my ankle. They just made my legs look odd, so I sent them back. I suspect the foot part of the boot fits the same regardless of the calf size of the leg.

The ones I got in the end I think are dune, with elastic back and suede panel down the front. They could ideally be a bit smaller but they were the best fit I'd found in ages.

I agree ankle boots can be just as hard to find.

Don't know what's going on, every time I write ankle boots it's inserting a link to those boots. Like the Gabor ones btw.

Same here Stickemup - 30cm calves and I'm short too so I'm very of all the lovely tall ladies without pipecleaners for legs who can wear long boots. They ALL look like waders on me.

That weird link thing happened yesterday on another thread in S&B. Every time a poster typed " slim leg jeans " it made a link to Jon Lewis jeans .

I have skinny calves and have ordered the Gabor boots Fabulassie has linked to so will report back on sizing.

I had some fab boots from Ravel that lasted for years but have struggled to find anything to fit since they died

I was interested in the post from Fabulassie about leg warmers, that sounds like a great way to pad out your legs. A question: do you wear them over the whole length of exposed leg (assuming you're wearing a dress or skirt) , just so that your leg looks a bit more substantial? I'm liking the idea, but it would make me rather hot unless it was a very cold day!
