The summer sun is fading as the year grows old,
and darker days are drawing near,
the winter winds will be much colder,
now you're not here.
I watch the birds fly south across the autumn sky
and one by one they disappear
I wish that I was flying with them,
now you're not here

Stropps, you are doing fantastically well getting all those jobs done! Good Luck for Tuesday - you will be great Smile

herbaceous · 21/09/2014 19:20

Christ on a bendy bus, Stropps, that is the week from the bowels of hell. Do that, and you can do anything.

motherinferior · 21/09/2014 19:34

IRRELEVANT RANT ALERT

Anyone remember DP's lecture to me a while back about how We Do Not Eat Enough Veg (meaning 'broccoli and green beans')? I bought sodding broccoli this week. Has he cooked it? Has he buggery.

And because I went on the march today it has been another Boring Supper (baked potatoes) after he fed the Inferiorettes pasta/pesto/peas/tuna for lunch (admittedly they all love this whereas I have threatened GBH if I ever have to eat it YET AGAIN) and supermarket pizza last night (again they must have loved this) because he was too grumpy and antisocial to come to the party for a couple of hours.

motherinferior · 21/09/2014 19:42

I do realise this is not the world's greatest crime. He is the one who did the hoovering (as usual). But I am still cross. I am making quite an effort to cook nice food, dammit.

herbaceous · 21/09/2014 19:52

In a similar vein, I get nagged for being wasteful and messy, but he's the one who starts a new pint of milk/packet of cheese/jar of mayo/can of deodorant without finishing the last one, so not only is there a lot of waste, as the dregs go off, there are also at least three times as many milk bottles, cheese packets, mayo jars and deodorant cans as there need be.

Herbs, DS has now crossed the bridge and is ready for the new school. Is Thursday his first day ? With Tuesday the day for the nurse appointment? Can you get to say a cheery hello to your friend on Tuesday just to reinforce how fab it is going to be? Even if you can just walk past the classroom where she is teaching, it might be enough for DS to see her to realise it will be OK. Huge well done.

Strops, your week sounds very full. Be kind to yourself in the meantime.

OPM, hip replacement is big of course but your DH may bounce back more quickly than you expect. My next door neighbour had it done last year at 50 and was hobbling round well by about a week post op. Took a long while to get back to normal but nowhere near as bad as he (and his wife) had though. Sending you both best wishes Flowers

Right, am doing my Vidal Sassoon bit on DS who is being teased for looking like a girl. Poor chap. He will be even curlier (and probably more girly) with it short. Oh well. Back in a minute

Rosebag · 21/09/2014 20:02

Good luck to OPM's other half for the operation. And to Crepeys moving on to pastures new and career developments.
Herbs all sorted…the little dude is ready. Smile

Chill MI it's not so bad. Pot Noodles is bad. Grin

BD photo of the wedding was ab fab

DS2 has just quoted from his AS level notes…(I think it's a discussion topic for French)…a Norwegian study, which claims that couples who share housework are 50% more likely to split up than where the woman does it all. Shock Hmm Angry

motherinferior · 21/09/2014 21:07

Probably because they still cooked REALLY BORING MEALS, if my own household is anything to go on.Angry

I am going to cook really interesting broccoli tomorrow. And the salmon DP didn't cook today (with Thai spices). In the oven. Also will roast the sodding sprouts DD2 (weirdly) wants, with lemon and onions (a Hugh F-W recipe).

motherinferior · 21/09/2014 21:09

I do realise my passive-aggressive Interesting Cooking is probably making them all yearn for Bought Pizza.Grin And also letting DP off the interesting food hook.Angry

Auriga · 21/09/2014 21:56

Went to see Pride. It's great. Brought back the early 80s so vividly. Got to take DD.

Glad to hear mini-Herbs is coming round to the move. Hope you get some satisfaction from the school about the bullying, BTM.

OPM, it is a big operation but people with hips bad enough to be operated on have usually put up with so much pain and discomfort, for years, that they find the post-op period a doddle by comparison. Hope it holds true former DH.

Got to go and meet DD

herbaceous · 21/09/2014 22:39

My friend with whom I had some wine on Friday night was an extra in Pride!

Best if luck to mini herbs this week and to you Herbs on your teaching debut.

Hatty - is it this week you're taking dd to uni?

Lalsy- any news from your Student?
We had a Skype call with dd today who looked shattered from Freshers shenanigans Wink. Proper lectures tomorrow, so she's getting an early night. Grin

I didn't realise Pride was so closely based on the true story (if you google guardian dancing dulais, the clip of the documentary is amazingly like the film I thought). So sad about Mark Ashton. We watched Lord of the Flies tonight, at ds' request - gave me the heebie jeebies so much I had to go and do the washing up.

MrsSchadenfreude · 21/09/2014 23:27

Stropps - agree, be kind to yourself.

My uncle's funeral was awful - so sad. And to make things worse, just as we had got back to the house, there was a phone call to say that his (and my mother's) other brother had died. What an utterly shitty week.

lalsy · 21/09/2014 23:27

Crem, highs and lows I think, she's properly shattered today too and a bit homesick but has done quite a bit this week and says she has met some lovely people. Very pleased about your dd. Hatty, keep us posted and don't forget the coasters. What about you Molly?

Good luck in educational adventures Herbs and mini herbs.

lalsy · 21/09/2014 23:30

Mrs S, I am so sorry.x

CointreauVersial · 22/09/2014 00:09

Oh, MrsS, what an awful time. Sad Thanks

MollyAir · 22/09/2014 02:30

Gosh, MrsS, be kind to yourself. Thanks You will need a major anti-stress campaign to recover from all that. What a lot to be happening at once - awful.

We still have ds at home for another few days. I'm trying to buy him Healthy Food to take. But he is capable of feeding himself very healthily in fact. For the rest of us, I'd like the Healthy Broccoli recipe if poss, MI.

Rudy, I buy stuff on ebay to cheer myself up. Old tat, usually, not clothes so much - that's dd's thing. It's most addictive. Oh, the joy of winning!

Blackduck · 22/09/2014 06:11

Oh MrsS :(.

MontserratCaballe · 22/09/2014 06:31

MrsS, I am so very sorry to hear thisFlowers

bigTillyMint · 22/09/2014 06:38

MrsS Sad What a horrible time you are having.

Stropps, take it as easy as you can and Herbs not long now!

Rudy, 2 sounds plenty!

I want to go and see Pride. DD and I watched Sophie's Choice on Sat night and it wasn't nearly as emotional as I remember it from my teen daysConfused

I have a horrid cold and feel shite. Think I will pop up to work and then might need to come back if the paracetemol don't work!

hattymattie · 22/09/2014 06:39

Gosh Mrs S - does this mean another funeral next weekendSad? A very tough timeThanks Thanks

MIGrin at passive aggressive cooking - I second James's aubergine lasagne - very easy and loved by all the family.

DD1 back from the Netherlands today - we are going to start collecting together coasters etc this week but she doesn't go until 1st October and we follow with all her gear on 4th.

beachyhead · 22/09/2014 07:02

Oh, I'm so sorry Mrs S. What a horrendous time you and your family are having.

We all watched in amazement as dd2 ate broccoli last night. Never happened before, but she had chosen it so she felt obliged.

Good luck Herbs and Stropps, striking out into new adventures Grin
