Forever Autumn Forever Crepey

The summer sun is fading as the year grows old,
and darker days are drawing near,
the winter winds will be much colder,
now you're not here.
I watch the birds fly south across the autumn sky
and one by one they disappear
I wish that I was flying with them,
now you're not here

Hung over from an atrocious headache last night. But have to gear self up for a meeting with the trustee that made me a tutor which I posted about recently , so got to look like a warrant the role. Then meeting DH near Regents Park. Looking forward to a nice cup of tea…. Wink

QQ hope your conference is going fably. DD's work experience "event" is today - she will be on the welcoming stand, something she would never have envisaged herself doing a couple of weeks agoSmile

Two observations to do this morning...

motherinferior · 17/09/2014 08:09

Oh bugger, I can't find Monty (I could probably try and work it out but would look like a crazed stalker)....

MrsS should definitely teach people how to cook.

cremolafoam · 17/09/2014 08:18

Herbs, sorry you had an anxious night . Hope the wee man likes the new school today.

QQ - how's the kitchen coming along? I had a dream about outrageous wallpaper last night.

Hi Rudy your holiday sounds completely marvellous.
I never laugh like I laugh with my silly sister . We just set each other off with the merest reference to some appalling (usually)event in our childhoodShock

BD do spill about sordid dream. Grin

Monty - are you a drawing of a little girl?

Stropperella · 17/09/2014 09:20

Happy birthday Monty. A mere 45 - barely even crepey Grin I have sent you a FB friend thingy (green glasses).

Herbs, use the power of Minecraft. You're doing the best thing and your ds will thank you for it soon, if maybe not today.

BD Grin @ all-seeing, all-knowing.

Crem and Lalsy, so glad to hear that all went well at Uni drop-off. Sorry, am a bit slooow, having trouble keeping up at the mo'.

BTM, doesn't Red Bull keep teens awake all night?? Hope your dd's event goes well today. Sounds like work experience has been properly useful.

Am feeling a bit wobbly as have quite a lot on and am struggling to keep on top of everything. Had a very weird dream last night involving some completely bonkers panic when my dm sent me to look in her cupboard and I couldn't find my dad's tweed jacket. As dad has been dead 9 years, his tweed jacket is also long gone, so what the hell was that about and why did I wake up with a racing heart and pooling sweat after that?? Mad.

MontserratCaballe · 17/09/2014 09:29

Very quickly as I am at work - I am a drawing of a little girl, although that is supposed to be me. I have accepted everyone who has been kind enough to befriend me and will send some friend requests later on. I love your pic, BD.

Herbs, I hope it is all going swimmingly Smile

MontserratCaballe · 17/09/2014 09:32

X posts strops. That sounds horrid. So sorry you are feeling anxious and have so much on. Would making a list help? I hind seeing things written down can help me focus. Thinking of you [glowers]

MontserratCaballe · 17/09/2014 09:33

Nooooooooo! I meant Flowers. Fat fingers on phone.

herbaceous · 17/09/2014 09:52

'Glowers'! Lolz.

Met the headteacher at the gate, and unburdened my soul to her. She was great, said she respected my decision, that she really admires the head of his new school, and thanked me for my involvement and helping improve things.

She was also pretty indiscreet about the state she found the school when she took over a year ago, contrary to what she'd been promised. In trying to turn things round she'd stirred up quite a lot of hatred, and had received lots of horrible personal emails and letters, some from staff. I don't know how she's still there! Things are gradually changing, but I don't know how long she'll be there for. It's really confirmed that now's the time to get out!

hattymattie · 17/09/2014 10:11

Gosh Herbs - sounds horrible for the Head - especially if the staff are not supportive. Anyway onward and upward for you and DS.

Grin at glowers - that would actually be good emoticon.

hattymattie · 17/09/2014 10:14

Have had horrible row with DS about computer time. I'm going to put the laptop in the attic as he actually behaves in a gollum like manner if you try to wrest the thing from him. I want him to spend time reading and doing sport not sitting in a darkened room on the computer.

herbaceous · 17/09/2014 10:21

Screens do seem to exert a spookily strong effect on the young. If DS has the ipad for more than about 20 minutes, he turns into a grumpy horror. One reason I'm slightly resistant to Minecraft, as he will spend every waking moment doing it unless I rustle up an enticing roster of alternative activities.

herbaceous · 17/09/2014 11:12

Monty - I've done a friend request on FB! I'm the one with a moustache.

MrsSchadenfreude · 17/09/2014 12:12

Happy Birthday Monty, you young thing you! Have sent you a friend request. (I am disfunctional looking girls).

Went to hospital this morning for genetic counselling session, came home, as afternoon appointment not until 3. Just had a phone call to ask if I can come at 1.30 as they have massively overbooked the clinic. So quick sandwich and out again!

Herbs, sounds horrible for the head, but you are making the right decision.
