Forever Autumn Forever Crepey

The summer sun is fading as the year grows old,
and darker days are drawing near,
the winter winds will be much colder,
now you're not here.
I watch the birds fly south across the autumn sky
and one by one they disappear
I wish that I was flying with them,
now you're not here

Ignore Herbs, ignore!

BD, thankfully I can't see what DS is eating on ParentPay!

motherinferior · 16/09/2014 17:03

Yes, I find that averting the entire brain from my children's eating is best. Frequently even when I'm in the same house as them. They have declared we Don't Eat Enough Soup, so that set me off on my soup-related mission. We get cheese on toast (food of the gods) with it. Mine Indian-style, which is even more heavenly.

lalsy · 16/09/2014 17:48

MI< you are making me peckish.

Unlike dd, with whom I finally just caught up" "I love those packs of instant rice Mum please send me some more. I am toying with buying some fruit" Smile.

Blackduck · 16/09/2014 18:02

What's Indian style?

motherinferior · 16/09/2014 18:09

Mix the grated cheese with chopped tomato, chopped onion, chopped coriander and chopped green chilli. I cook many things with this combo, from tofu to sardines.

Wonder if I can have a glass of wine too

MollyAir · 16/09/2014 19:01

MI, you should consider running small (one-to-one?) cookery classes in your lovely home. You could do it for naice teenagers about to leave the nest - I would send my two. You've got such an interesting range. Also you could teach me! I've just been diagnosed as allergic to wheat Hmm so I could do with breadmaker lessons as well as everything else. Wink Your dds could be your glamorous assistants...

motherinferior · 16/09/2014 19:41

Inevitably they were sniffy about the soup GrinGrinGrinit was bloody delish.

NUFC69 · 16/09/2014 19:50

Just a few words from soon to be flooded Scottsdale (that's if I believe the TV). I am at the computer by the pool and the sky does appear to be rather grey - the temperature is about 90, though, so not what you can call autumnal. The problem, of course, is that desert floods very easily and they did have the remnants of a hurricane last week - everywhere is much greener than we have ever seen it before.

Herbs, the school sounds wonderful and it is so obviously the right thing to do.

I can't believe that we have less than a week left, but we are missing the family (a few years ago I would never had believed I would write that!).

hattymattie · 16/09/2014 19:52

MI - I'm always serving up stuff which I think tastes nice and they act as if I'm trying to poison them! I can however report that the Jamie Oliver bean and chicken recipe was a successSmile.

The soup sounds yummy - maybe you should do u tube Indian recipes.

Rudy - that is a lovely photo of you on FB.

Rudy, you can't tell on your FB photos! Beautiful familySmile Sounds like you had a great time!

NU, I was just wondering about you this afternoon!

Here we have DD's mates round and they are having a "games" evening with DS in the kitchen. This seems to involve loud music, squealing, many snacks, Red BullHmm and Rumikub, Cluedo.... I am going to wash my hair and hide in my room!

Blackduck · 16/09/2014 21:28

Rudy your FB photos are tres glam......

So those of you who haven't witnessed it should understand why this woman gets away with a bra on her head ;)

Auriga · 16/09/2014 22:21

Welcome back Rudy :)

I'll come to your cookery school MI. And why don't you think about that too, MrsS? Exit strategy #2.

Today I discovered a huge (enormous) fuck-up by HR, which will make life much more difficult for me but (let's look on the bright side) not for them.

Are they concerned about their fuck-up?

No.

Do they have any concerns?

Yes.

They are worried that there's a risk I may be over-paid for September.

(I won't, in case you were worried too).

Ah, well.

Great seminar tonight. How was yours, QQ?

MollyAir · 16/09/2014 22:28

Two crepey cookery vlogs...followed by two crepey cookery books...then the TV shows. Then the Sainsbo ads. If Jack Monroe can do it, we can too. (OK, maybe not me.) Wink

herbaceous · 16/09/2014 22:30

Inspired by MI, I pepped up my dinner cheese omelette with onions, chilli and coriander. Bloody gorgeous!

MontserratCaballe · 16/09/2014 22:37

Oh dear, Auriga, that doesn't sound good. Hope you get it sorted.

BD, I would be delighted to help if I can - my place runs all manner of courses (full time, one day a week (2 years), 2 evenings a week, weekends, distance learning etc) so there is a course to suit most people. The oldest person I ever taught was mid 70s. I do not think you are too old. What sort of law are you interested in? Do let me know if I can send you some info or anything.

Good luck for tomorrow, Herbs - mini boy may well be resistant but you know you are doing the right thing. You do not owe the old school anything. If they really cared, they would have taken steps to address your concerns properly when you raised them, rather than when you are leaving. Stand firm. Courage, ma brave.

Crem, glad DD is OK. Not sure about the uncle ben's, Lalsy.

Rose, I am indeed on FB and would love to be friends. How would we recognise each other? Should I pm you my name and then you could find me? Hope your son had a wonderful birthday. I liked being 27. I am sure I will like being 45 as much.

Still feeling slightly sub optimal so off to hang washing out and have some sleep. Night night all

Rosebag · 16/09/2014 23:38

Have PMd you Monty
45? You spring chicken, you!

QueenQueenie · 16/09/2014 23:52

Hi to all.
Reading furiously to catch up, after another gruelling day in Conferenceland.
Will be back properly once it's all over but not much before!

Auriga, my seminar group doesn't start up again for a couple of weeks... but this conference I'm working on is related to our common pursuits . Sorry to hear you are still very worried about your sister. Excited to hear you have a new job. You'll be fab.

MollyAir · 17/09/2014 00:00

First in to say Happy Birthday, Monty! Cake Wine

herbaceous · 17/09/2014 04:47

HB Monty!

Awake AGAIN in the middle of the night, fretting about managing DS's transition. I wish I'd just do my worrying in the daytime.

I'm taking him to see the new school today - just hope he likes it! It suddenly seems a very long time until next Thursday when he moves - I'll have to keep up the enthusiasm and encouragement. A bribe of downloading Minecraft may have to be deployed.

hattymattie · 17/09/2014 05:59

Fingers crossed on for the visit Herbs.

Happy Birthday MontyWine.

Am feeling very stiff after gym yesterday - I even have sore elbows. Obviously getting ton old and need to avoid the press ups.

Blackduck · 17/09/2014 06:08

Happy Birthday Monty!
