Right - here ( fresh from the architect thread) are the results of the survey.
topshop - nice but a bit flappy at the ankle
Marks - nice but too pointy and cheap leather meaning they were hard

The winners are..... fanfare

the Clarks ones. Matt black leather. SO SO much comfier than the other ones, even without socks - nice arch support #gimmer

I concur.

maybemyrtle · 22/08/2014 17:10

Good point. I imagine I'd be wearing them with skinnies or a skirt, thinking pencil-ish. What shapes do you think would work best? I have the look in my head just not sure how to pull it off on me, iyswim.

Kablooger · 22/08/2014 17:12

i couldnt wear with a skirt as my ankles are like twigs. would look weird

maybemyrtle · 22/08/2014 17:13

Haha just looking on pinterest and all the examples are skinny minnies! I'll take that as a sign Smile

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 22/08/2014 17:25

I wear them with skirts, but only with tube mini skirts and opaques. I also have skinny legs/ankles but have small feet, so don't think it looks too bonkers. And I often wear slouchy socks or even leg warmers peeping out, to fill the top of the boot in a bit!

We'll hello everyone. Seems to me that some people have a lot of free time atm???

On my lunch 'hour' (why it's called an hour I'll never know), I raced into clarks (child's doodles issue) but was completely distracted for the purposes of browsing reasearch, I had a look at the aforementioned Kablooger boots. They are indeed lovely. Didn't have time to try on unfortunately but they caught my eye.

I'm a definite pear too, mid calf is a great length on me too, my best I think. I feel a bit dumpy in Chelsea boots too, esp if they're v flat. Tbh I think we probably notice it a whole lot more than the non-pear population. That's what my head tells me. My heart says DUMPY. I need a heel.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 22/08/2014 17:34

Still on holiday, Lurking. :)

lurkingaround · 22/08/2014 17:35

I can wear them with dresses and skirts, above knee, and opaques. That, I can do. Haven't done midi yet. Skinnies and Chelsea= A dumpy me.

lurkingaround · 22/08/2014 17:37

Enjoying hols?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 22/08/2014 17:39

Yes, thanks. Going far too quickly though.

lurkingaround · 22/08/2014 17:41

I know, like water through your fingers.

Kablooger · 22/08/2014 17:45

kablooger boots

omg

( my current names all taken from a list of insults S3 has made up and stuck on the fridge)

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 22/08/2014 17:53

:) D1's current fridge note is a severe telling off for her dad!

maybemyrtle · 22/08/2014 18:07

Yes that's it absolutely re what we think vs what other ppl notice, keep telling myself that it looks FINE but like you say, heart says dumpy!

Loving the idea of slouchy socks/legwarmers at the top.

I think this kind of look is attainable? www.pinterest.com/pin/451274825134501808/

Kablooger · 22/08/2014 18:13

i am not a midi skirt fan. I am The Wrong Person to ask

OP posts:
RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 22/08/2014 18:48

Not at all sure about that, Myrtle. I'm quite fond of midi skirts for work, with heels, but I'd look like a mad cat lady in the outfit you posted.

lurkingaround · 22/08/2014 18:56

Snap Remus! I just had a post written about looking like ye olde chicken woman off to feed the hens in her ye olde clothing! It wouldn't work for me either, maybemyrtle. I am nervous of the midi and ankle boot thing tho like all fashion my eye might eventually adjust.

maybemyrtle · 22/08/2014 19:01

I wouldn't replicate that entire look! Maybe 20 years ago, although even then not the hat... It was more a dress/hem length/boots thing. Best I could find quickly on pinterest.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 22/08/2014 19:05

:)

This sort of thing works for me, or even this sort of thing with tights - the key is in keeping it v slim and streamlined imho.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 22/08/2014 19:05

No, I know. I meant that style dress with the boots wouldn't work for me.

Kablooger · 22/08/2014 19:07

like 1 not 2

OP posts:
maybemyrtle · 22/08/2014 19:09

YY to the 2nd link - saw that one but of course I'm much hippier than her and not sure if it would scale up. The first of those is what I saw lots of but my thighs def don't work with that style skirt any more, esp with ankle boots :)

That said, this person's shape is a bit closer to mine and looks good I think.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 22/08/2014 19:11

Ka - yep, we're still just a pair of mini-skirted old slappers! :)

Myrtle - maybe with tights. The bare legs and flat boots combo looks v stumpy, to me.

Kablooger · 22/08/2014 19:11

not with bare legs lady.

OP posts:
Kablooger · 22/08/2014 19:12

i dont think i would wear with skirts tbh. I only wear them at work any hoo.
these are for pounding the Ku'damm man.
