Silver saltwaters?

polyhymnia · 09/08/2014 12:24

Just that really.

Thinking of getting my first pair of Saltwaters for my holidays and wondered - specially in view of the almost universal condemnation of my last shoe post ! - if they'd look bling/ wrong in silver and better to stick to more traditional colour ways?

Even if they look OK, will they wear well and stand up to the beach as well as the plainer colours?

I have a gold pair of Saltwaters and like them a lot. They appear to be wearing very well indeed....

polyhymnia · 09/08/2014 12:36

Sounds good

I have the silver ones. Bought them at the start of the summer and they have been on my feet almost every day since. They are the only sandals that dont rub my feet. Best buy ever for comfort.

polyhymnia · 09/08/2014 17:39

Many thanks. Any other experiences of metallics?

I've got the gold

Sleepthief · 09/08/2014 17:59

Oops. Anyway, it's very pale and not at all blingy - the silver are probably similar. I now have four pairs / that's how much I love my saltwaters Grin

MissBartlett · 09/08/2014 18:39

I've got the silver. Love them with denim and navy and still look v new even after wearing them on the beach. I'm up to three pairs of saltwaters now and am planning what colour I want next!

polyhymnia · 09/08/2014 18:41

I'm assuming from pics online that soles, while not clumpy, are reasonably thick?

OP posts:
LEMmingaround · 09/08/2014 18:44

The soles looked really thin which is why I didn't nother with them. They are ££££ is this a fashion thing (retail snobbery?) Or a is there something special about them?

polyhymnia · 09/08/2014 18:51

Can someone who has them say how thin/ thick they are, please?

I have the gold and I love them! Did a 3 mile walk in them the week I got them - no blisters at all. They are pale and not blingy, would definitely recommend.

IWantToMakePeppaBacon · 09/08/2014 18:53

The soles are fairly thin, but very comfy. Can't feel anything through them.

thenightsky · 09/08/2014 18:59

Never heard of them, but just googled. I like the look of them, but have very, very narrow feet... so narrow I can never normally wear open toes as I slide out over the end. Are they narrow?

ShirleySharpeyes · 09/08/2014 19:01

They are brilliant for walking, don't rub at all and you can swim in them - so perfect for the beach. I live close to the sea in the SW, so having footwear that can get wet/salty/worn in boats/cross streams and survive torrential rainshowers without being slippy is sensible for my lifestyle). My tan pair of Saltwaters are three years old and are in remarkably good condition considering the almost daily abuse they get in the summer.

LEMmingaround · 09/08/2014 19:03

Oh great. Now I want a pair! Hmm

polyhymnia · 09/08/2014 19:04

Sounds good!

Me too LEM! Black or silver...

LEMmingaround · 09/08/2014 19:07

Nup. I just bought birkenstocks so can't justify a pair this year

Somanyillustrations · 09/08/2014 19:09

I've just sent a pair of Birkies back as they were too big. Decisions decisions!

ShesARumUn · 09/08/2014 19:16

I have them in silver (and navy, and red, and yellow...) and they are really comfortable; the soles are quite thin but I can't feel anything through them and I walk for miles in them.

They are the most complimented footwear I have ever owned. They are fab! I am a UK size 5 and I bought a size 5 and they fit really well.

lightgreenglass · 09/08/2014 19:22

I love my saltwaters and I plan to get 3 more next year! So comfortable and stylish. The soles are thin but rubber so don't feel thin and the straps fit really well as leather so mould to your feet. I am a UK six and officially 5.5 UK and got a 7 for my wide feet.

polyhymnia · 09/08/2014 19:24

OK, have ordered them in silver. I'm a 41 or 7 and a half, so have ordered 8. Will report back.

thenightsky · 09/08/2014 20:19

Where are you all buying them from? I've googled and found nothing much on line at all.

ShesARumUn · 09/08/2014 20:24

Try www.sunsansandals.co.uk

WillPenn · 09/08/2014 20:45

The soles do look quite thin but you cannot feel anything through them. They are incredibly comfortable. They seem to mold themselves to your feet.

If you ever are in the USA/know anyone who lives there you should buy them there. They are $36.95 on this site (plus shipping). I got mine from these people when on a work trip to the USA and will stock up on my next visit!
