Oh, Mister Fotograffs! It's thanks to him we have this pic and all the others...

Crepeys are an August bunch
hattymattie · 27/08/2014 14:18

Wow Crem you are way ahead of the game.

We have been out and had nice lunch with DD - presents this evening when her father gets back. We managed to spoil it though by having row in Zara where apparently I was mean because I said upon gazing at a black dress she selected that she had several others the same. I was told that just because she was 18, I didn't have to stop being her mother.Confused. Then tears - one, or maybe both of us is feeling very hormonal!

DS and DD2 said I was not being mean or unreasonable - phew!

bigTillyMint · 27/08/2014 15:06

I have just realised what the sick bucket is forGrin

Hatty, have just had an argument free shopping spree with DD, despite me stopping her from buying yet another going out dress snd insisting on skirts of decent lengthShock Now waiting for DGodD at Euston.

Stropperella · 27/08/2014 15:20

I had a bucket at university. He was called Brian. Grin

lalsy · 27/08/2014 15:42

Brian is going on the list Grin.

bigTillyMint · 27/08/2014 15:54

Brian the bucket - how fabGrin

MollyAir · 27/08/2014 16:04

He can be friends with James the Doorman

bigTillyMint · 27/08/2014 16:12

James is a rather expensive doorman! Just reminded me of Carlton your doorman on Rhoda, many moons ago

lalsy · 27/08/2014 16:22

Molly, that's amazingly cheap. Going on The List. Love James.

hattymattie · 27/08/2014 17:02

Molly - bucket looks great - will have to try a trip to Asda when we come over.

Have made up with DD - she is being exceptionally moody though. I think I am being blamed for the fact that she was born in August so half her friends are still on holiday and the rest have already gone off to uni in other countries. She'll thank me for the August birthday when she's older!

motherinferior · 27/08/2014 17:10

James the doorman is doing t'ai chi. I recognise a bloke doing t'ai chi in the bedroom when I see one.

motherinferior · 27/08/2014 17:25

I have done today's feature, on Using Internet Forums. I found, strangely enough, I didn't have to do much research. Wink

NUFC69 · 27/08/2014 17:42

MI, Grin

I have had a fruitful trip to an M&S outlet where I bought a black long line cowl necked sweater for a fiver, a black slip (to wear under the new dresses I am going to buy), and three pairs of white socks to wear with my trainers when I am wearing shorts on holiday and walking the woods round Lake Tahoe. This is where it is possible, but hopefully not probable, that we might see a bear.

We also called in to B&M - it might be somewhere that you might pick up bits for those starting uni.

hattymattie · 27/08/2014 17:56

Ha -NU we have bought everything for a great curry from M&S here - so I am now very happy and looking forward to lime pickle, naans, the lot! M&S food springing up all over Paris by the way. French DH didn't realise poppadums should be warm - poor uneducated man!

Your trip to the US sounds great.

CointreauVersial · 27/08/2014 18:39

I hope you are enjoying your meet up in the uncharted wilds of ED (MrsS is possibly still en route, clutching her map and compass, with the other hand on her pepper spray). I did hum and haw about coming along, but I have to come into town tomorrow evening to pick up the girls, and, more importantly, DH and I are home alone this evening, so we are jolly well going out for dinner, so there.

LOLZ at DM today - she sent out invitations to her and DSDad's joint 70th/80th birthday party, accompanied by a map, photocopied and annotated with the venue, nearby hotels and suchlike. "Very nice", said I, peering at the blurred page, "but possibly a more recent map might have been better?" Not only was the nearby bypass missing, but also the M25. Grin A short lesson in Google Maps then followed....

Having said that, I can't claim to be such a technical whizz myself. I thought the on-off button on my mobile was faulty, as it has been really sticking recently. And today, when I tried to use the camera, I could only get really blurry images. I thought maybe it was time for a replacement phone, but then I realised I had the case on upside down....Blush

hattymattie · 27/08/2014 20:27

Enjoy dinner CV - I'm laughing at pre ;25 map.

Have a good evening Crepeys.

Rosebag · 28/08/2014 00:02

How did the meet up go?
MI DD will be fine. They never know what's hit them on transfer to secondary, but transition management for the year sevens is so much better than it used to be, isn't it? Good luck with it all.
Re sick buckets....do they really need them. I thought all uni accommodation these days had ensuites. Not like us, back in the day, running up and down the corridor wrapped in a towel. ( naievely assumes that they can actually crawl to the toilet....I'm a non drinker Blush )
NU Lake Tahoe sounds brilliant ! we never saw any bears....I wasn't entirely sorry. Eagles, ospreys and today, seals but no bears.
My feet are aching and I must admit I am running out of steam. I'm back in the room sunbathing on the balcony. Going to see something at the IMAX tonight. dS and DH are booked on to a whale watch tomorrow afternoon. I have never seen the attraction myself. dD and I will go swimming, I think. Then it's packing for our homeward trek Friday night over Saturday. By all reports, we are going to need warm gear as we step of the plane. Hmm

MollyAir · 28/08/2014 01:20

Yes, it's freezing here, brrrrr.

I had a great time meeting Crepeys in the wilds of ED (although I can't help reading that as Eating Disorder, hardly appropriate at all ). The restaurant was a great choice, thanks, BTM. We shared loads of yummy food and some Wine (I was boringly on water since I took my life in my hands and drove there.) 'Twas lovely. Smile

MI, who is that feature for, the one on using Internet Forums? Ds always refuses to use forums, saying he's not a forumite although he uses every other kind of thing on t'interweb. Confused

NUFC69 · 28/08/2014 07:03

MU sounds great. One day .....

Rose, I would love to go on a whale watch, all I have ever done is go to see dolphins (which wss good, but whales - wow).

We had a lovely time with our friends - she is a great cook so lots of nice food. I also tried a tomato soup cake Shock which she had made. Delicious! I am full of admiration for DFr: she is in a wheelchair and is about to embark on a three week tour of US - they go the day we get back.

Blackduck · 28/08/2014 08:57

ohh errr........

Crepeys are an August bunch
bigTillyMint · 28/08/2014 09:06

BD, that is looking lovely, if a little unfinishedGrin My deepest sympathies on the time it is taking!

MU was indeed lovely although I partook far too greedily of the tarte flambees (covered in yummy cheese) and had some very strange dreams!

NU, tomato soup cakeShock What did that taste like?

hattymattie · 28/08/2014 09:08

DD1 still asleep with friend upstairs so no option but to MN.

Anybody any bright ideas for 80th birthday present for DF - that man who has pretty much what he wants in life and no sporting interests. Between 4 children we have come up with nothing original and are perfectly stumped.

herbaceous · 28/08/2014 09:11

Well, my park friends group forum was much as you'd imagine. A lot of people with slightly droney voices, who knew too much about very tedious matters about park bureaucracy. A couple of people most definitely on the spectrum. And the compulsory amphibian fan, who only turned up to complain that one pond has been cleaned out too often and now has no frogs.

Not entirely sure it was worth missing a meet-up for, but feel I can polish my very tarnished halo.

Off to yet another child-based farm-type attraction today, this time in Billericay. At least it's cheap.
