boots now summer is over?

It looks like summer is drawing to an end so I am thinking boots
Last year I got clarks national sugar boots which I loved but calf height so too hot for some days
I want some ankle boots. Not chelsea type or mumsy boots
I am more of a rugged, chunky boot type
I am drawn towards these but may be a mistake as they are not my usual style

BTW OP I quite like those Clarks boots! Would wear them with skinny jeans.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 03/08/2014 11:48

Sorry but the boots in the OP are hideous. Wait a month or so and there will be zillions of lovely boots around.

GiveTwoSheets · 03/08/2014 12:00

Agree with other pp about skinny jeans other than that they is ugly boots but come winter time when its snowing we will probably think they nice.

But where the heck are you for summer to be coming to a end already

Greengardenpixie · 03/08/2014 12:58

No, i cant get my head round those! I cant ever imagine wearing those except when i am 90 if i live that long
What age are you...if you are quite young you may get away with them if you are a bit 'quirky' but if you are older..then no no no...dont buy them.

bouquetofpencils · 03/08/2014 14:22

I had very similar shape boots like those from Clark's a few years ago which were for work when I was on my feet all day outside. The way the toe upturns? It felt like walking on a seesaw. I keep my boots for years but this pair went in the charity bag pretty quick.
My boot collection is missing a knee length tan pair.

LEMmingaround · 03/08/2014 14:27

Just shut up!!! I am thrilled as I got a pair of birkies yesterday. Dont you be telling me summer is over!

LEMmingaround · 03/08/2014 14:28

I like the boots though.

museumum · 03/08/2014 14:32

Those furry boots are a bit "ugg boot" for my liking. Ok for slipping about on a Sunday morning but that's about it.
The shops generally seem to be stocking short Chelsea / western styles this year. I like a lot of the new styles I'm seeing.

museumum · 03/08/2014 14:34

I'll probably try these on

Ruralninja · 03/08/2014 14:35

those might be the funniest boots I've ever seen. Especially for August you lunatic!

wanttosinglikemarycoughlan · 03/08/2014 15:13

Ooh I like those museumum

I sorted out my winter boots two months ago. Can't wait for boots weather...

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 03/08/2014 16:50

They ate lovely boots in the flesh but WITH THE CUFF TURNED UP, goodness knows who photographed them like thatHmm

Dancingstar · 03/08/2014 18:29

Museumum, I love those Boots. I've never owned a pair of boots before - maybe this year I'll treat myself. Would you only wear them with trousers or also with skirt/thick tights?

HoneyNectar · 03/08/2014 18:37

So, to summarise......

  1. the boots are minging

  2. it is too hot for boots, even if they were nice

(Disclaimer: link to the boots took forever to open, so I haven't even seen them, but this is the general vibe I am getting from the thread Smile)

museumum · 03/08/2014 20:03

dancingstar - I don't really do ankle boots with skirts/dresses cause I'm very short (and also love knee high boots) but I reckon if you're average height or taller they'd look good.
I would wear the ones I linked with skinnies or skinny chinos tucked in or with my boyfriend jeans or cords or wool/tweedy trousers over the top.

skylerwhite1 · 03/08/2014 20:22

ooooh LadyRubyPenhaligon, I LOVE THOSE BOOTS, kinda looking forward to the darker nights and cooler temps. and getting into winter clothes.. with cosy fires and and roaring fires (bring it)

Notcontent · 03/08/2014 20:49

What SinglePringle said.... !!

Ilovemydogandmydoglovesme · 03/08/2014 20:58

You can't go wrong with a nice Chelsea boot in my opinion. Grin

I bought a pair of these about three years ago. I loved them and wore them to bits so I ordered another pair last winter. I got the same discount on them both times as well.

andream34 · 04/08/2014 22:29

Have to agree with many posts, the Clarks boots that started this thread have such an old-lady look about them.

I bought these in Next last week in a sale for £6, wore them on Saturday as it was pouring with rain.

I have these in black; warm & comfy winter boots.
Paid less than half price though last year in sale, with code also, at Brantano.

Never wear them tucked down.

Try www.branch309.co.uk they often have some fab bargains, returns, or sales, and some really lovely Toms boots cheap.

Beautifullymixed · 05/08/2014 10:28

I don't intend to take off my beloved birkies or havaianas until October at least.
Will wear ballet pumps or converse if raining.

I love my toes out and plan to have a pedicure at the end of September, ready to go back to school -am a TA.

So no boots just yet for me.

CointreauVersial · 05/08/2014 12:56

Shadow - so not just me, then!

Clarks are missing a trick with their rubbish photos.

wanttosinglikemarycoughlan · 05/08/2014 16:12

Andream, sorry but they are awful
I guess I am more, but not fully, hippish in my dress. I couldn't ever imagine wearing those
I hate uggs but even they would be preferable
