I'm 5'6" and weigh 10 stone 9. I wouldn't get into a 12 in H&M. I'm a 12/14 depending on shop.

RobinSparkles · 25/07/2014 15:50

I'm not sure about H & M as I've never bought anything from there for me. I'm sure I've heard that they size small.

I'm 5 foot 3, just under 9 stone and usually wear a size 10-12.

FuckyNell · 25/07/2014 15:51

I'm same size as you. A 16 blazer doesn't even do up!

OrangeMochaFrappucino · 25/07/2014 15:52

At 5'6" and that weight with a 32G bust I was in a size 12 mostly but it always varies depending on shop, brand, style etc.

JennyOnTheBlocks · 25/07/2014 15:52

I'm the same height as you, and almost the same weight, and shop a various places including H&M

I have clothes with labels in that read anything from size 10 to size 16

One size does not fit all, they vary so much due to supplier, fabric, any tailoring, even poor manufacturing.

Sorry, but maybe you're going to have to return your things and try them on next time.

TickleMyTitsTillFriday · 25/07/2014 15:52

H&M 12 is actually a 10.

Lesleythegiraffe · 25/07/2014 15:53

I'm normally a 10/12 but never get into anything less than a 14 at H and M.

Tried their online shopping once and the whole lot went back.

Thelongdarkteatime · 25/07/2014 15:54

I find h and m varies a lot. I have size 12 and size 16 tops from there (34ff) and all fit. It's definitely h and m's bizarre sizing- I wouldn't worry! (Btw I'm 5ft 6 and carrying baby weight)

Thelongdarkteatime · 25/07/2014 15:55

-x posted with lots of people!

TickleMyTitsTillFriday · 25/07/2014 15:56

As in a 16 is a European 42 which is actually a 14!

Cockadoodledooo · 25/07/2014 15:57

H&M sizing is bizarre. In ordinary clothes I usually have to go up a size or sometimes 2 from my usual, but their maternity clothes seemed to come up enormous so I had to get a size or two smaller!

17leftfeet · 25/07/2014 16:02

H&M sizing is all over the place -I've got tops from there ranging from a 12 to 20 -they all fit

MorphineDreams · 25/07/2014 16:04

This is an interesting site to compare sizing in different shops. Not sure if H&M is on there sizes.darkgreener.com/

WhizzPopBang · 25/07/2014 16:11

H&M comes up tiny in my experience - jeans especially. I was really pissed off when I bought some of their maternity tights in a large when I was about 5 months preg last year, and they were so tight and unstretchy I couldn't get them past my calves & was completely knackered & out of breath from the effort! I was a size 10-12 everywhere else at the time Confused

Branleuse · 25/07/2014 16:17

i take a 12 in most shops but i usually go for a 16 in h&m.
could probably manage a 14 but their stuff usually shrinks a bit in the wash

I'm 5ft 3 and 8stone 7.
I'm a 10-12, there's no way with another 2 stone on would I fit in a 12.

MegBusset · 25/07/2014 16:19

H&M sizing is totally random - I am a size ten everywhere else and have H&M stuff that fits me in small, medium and large! Ignore the label and just get what fits!

rookiemater · 25/07/2014 16:21

I think H&M sizing is quite small. I don't buy their clothes normally, but bought some maternity items, I am 5ft 6 and around 11 stone and normally fit size 14. In H&M I had to by the XL maternity stuff.

msfreud · 25/07/2014 16:33

I'm about a stone less than you and an inch taller, with a 34DD bust. I take a 12 in most shops but need at least a 14 in H&M. So, I would think you need at least a 16 in their sizing.

alltoomuchrightnow · 25/07/2014 16:33

comes up small in general but can be quite random as Meg says.
a lot of their stuff can be baggy / a bit oversized, then fine.. but reg fit, it's a size smaller

alltoomuchrightnow · 25/07/2014 16:34

with a 38DD dress i've had to stop getting dresses from there on the whole… though jersey maxi dresses have been fine and often loose fit

alltoomuchrightnow · 25/07/2014 16:36

is it just me, or are they using cheaper and ever nastier fabrics these days in a lot of stuff? same with Zara too.. not everything but a lot

weekendgirl66 · 25/07/2014 16:55

Thank you everyone i feel so much better now, i was in a rush so couldnt be bothered to try never mind they can all go back foR A BIGGER SIZE [GRIN]

oh i got really depressed in there a few times this year. not being able to squeeze my norms into things. But they did a lovely oversized skeleton t-shirt which i got, and jersey maxi dresses, baggy, only about £6.99 each so i got three! so you really need to look through the rails… if it's deliberately baggy its ok.
I got a floral top there this week and the 16 was too baggy so got 14!
but then found a lovely fitted polka dot navy dress size 16, had to give up on that one. so… very random!
