Ooops, sorry, I didn't mean to finish the thread.

OP posts:
bigTillyMint · 28/07/2014 12:15

I am also worried about CremSad

NUFC69 · 28/07/2014 12:20

I am very Shock at the officials at Ascot - that sounds appalling, Herbs.

I hope the passport situation is resolved soon, MI, so that you don't have the stress.

Sorry to hear about the weather for those on holiday: the sun has just Shock gone in here, but it is still pleasant sitting in the garden. I am about to start weeding the paths again. DH is up on his platform trimming the 13 ft leylandii which surrounds half of the garden. He has just informed me that when he comes back in the next life he wants to wear a skirt. I have volunteered one of mine now, but strangely he has not taken me up on the offer. Grin

motherinferior · 28/07/2014 12:38

Crem has been on holiday, hasn't she. I am hoping that this is the cause of the radio silence.

Herbs, well done for not suggesting what he could do with his bowler.

Blackduck · 28/07/2014 13:00

Hope passport peeps get it sorted!

And sorry the weather isn't so good for some of you - warm and sunny here! (rubs it in, but then I am at work.....)

bigTillyMint · 28/07/2014 13:05

MI, see the other threadSad

NU is the Leylandii yours or a neighbours?

motherinferior · 28/07/2014 13:29

oh no. No.

hattymattie · 28/07/2014 13:59

Crem's life is a nightmare - I don't think I'd be able to cope with what she's going through.

Herb's you should have knocked that guy's hat off. Talk about making a fun family day out ultra stressful.

DD1 told me last night she was coming back from Rome between 10 and 11 o'clock - got everything ready including lunch, texted to see where she was at and she told me it was 10 and 11 o'clock tonightAngry.

NUFC69 · 28/07/2014 14:24

You're right, Hatty, I feel awful that I have been whittering on about trivia, tbh.

BTM, there are 33 trees and they are ours (and, no, we didn't plant them). They are on two sides of our garden, facing the road - we're on a corner plot - so DH has to cut both sides. We did used to get someone in to do it, but many years ago (maybe 20), it cost £600 so DH bought a Henchman platform and he does it himself.

herbaceous · 28/07/2014 14:24

Poor poor Crem. I can't believe how many thing are going wrong at once, and so badly. surely something will get better soon.

And yes. Ascot was bristling with officials, ensuring the right sort of seat was used in the right area. There was also the ridiculous rule that you could only bring in one bottle of sparkling wine. You couldn't bring in ordinary wine, or three 250cl bottles of wine. Only sparkling wine.

And the previous day we'd been to a festival in our local park. It is very long and thin, and runs north to south. We arrived at the southern entrance, nearest us, to be told that DS couldn't bring his scooter in through that gate. Scooters were allowed in the park, but only through the northern gate, miles away. Why why why? No explaination was forthcoming.

I don't mind rules, as long as they're logical. Stupid jobsworth-type rules for no reason get me proper vexed.

bigTillyMint · 28/07/2014 14:44

Herbs, that's utter madness. All of it Angry

I am also hoping that something will get better for her soon.

NU, what a mare. But I guess it blocks out the road?

hattymattie · 28/07/2014 15:01

NU - it's the trivia that keep us saneWink.

NUFC69 · 28/07/2014 15:25

BTM, yes, it does. We have a big front garden and it would be very exposed without the "hedge". I just wish it was something like copper beech. And when it's a glorious day as it is atm, I feel for DH.

Herbs, your story just gets worse.

Oh, and Hatty, sorry that DD isn't home until tonight.

motherinferior · 28/07/2014 16:00

Herbs, I have a Brief (fnar) for you. Will email.

magimedi · 28/07/2014 16:36

Can I come & join in here, please? Read about you when Cointreau posted on a thread on AIBU & reckon I am well crepey enough to be here!

NUFC69 · 28/07/2014 17:19

As I said on the other thread, I haven't been here long, Magi, but welcome. I am sure that someone else will be along soon.

MrsSchadenfreude · 28/07/2014 17:32

Trivia goes on regardless. And I agree with Hatty, it does keep us sane.

Hello Magimedi and welcome! Grin

motherinferior · 28/07/2014 17:41

Hello Magi - how nice to have a new crepey in our midst.

My Trivial Pursuit of the day is how to avoid going to supper with someone who is quite the worst cook I know.

MrsSchadenfreude · 28/07/2014 17:50

My Auntie Doris was the worst cook I knew. We once went there and had boil in the bag fish, bread and butter and some green slurry. As she dished it up, she said "I hope you like broccoli..." Grin

MrsSchadenfreude · 28/07/2014 17:51

It was inly the colour that distinguished it from her Brussels sprouts.

motherinferior · 28/07/2014 17:56

Also in my CDiff meeting, it was all fairly OK but but BUT I really really really dislike having my head talked over. By someone who is about 20 years younger than me and frankly not as fab as she thinks she is. I did manage - please congratulate me - NOT to flare up but to keep mentioning, rather a lot, publications I have been writing for recently (I note none of you saw my Daily Tel piece Grin.)

QueenQueenie · 28/07/2014 18:03

We once went to supper at friends - they'd invited 6 guests and made a big deal of it - 'we're repaying all our friends for the lovely dinner parties we've been to, it's our turn to entertain you etc etc'.
After a lot of drinking and some stale crisps at around 9pm our hostess said,
'I haven't done a menu as such, I thought it'd be more fun if we got out everything in the fridge and we'd see what we could make from it!'
It wasn't any sort of fun and I can report that the only things you can make in a couple of hours from a manky cauliflower, some cheddar cheese, lentils, beetroot and tinned tuna isn't especially nice Hmm
Don't go MI, or eat before you go, or suggest going out instead...

Am very worried about Crem.
And where is Wilbur??

motherinferior · 28/07/2014 18:06

I have suggested early evening cup of tea (she doesn't drink either) on basis am on pre-holiday Strict Regime. DP and the Inferiorettes will be away (hippy t'ai chi) and I really would like to eat all the things they hate eating, not all the things I hate eating. She may offer a special low-fat meal, but I shall Stand Firm.

NUFC69 · 28/07/2014 18:07

No DT for me, MI, because we were away. What day did it come out on?

I am trying Courgette Caponate tonight as we have a glut of the things. No suggestions from me as to how you can avoid the world's worst cook, although obviously he/she will have to go some to compete with green sludge broccoli.

I am vaguely watching the Test match and DH is gently snoring in the corner.

I have decided that my wardrobe is sadly lacking in dresses and that I really need to buy some, but I guess I am too late in the season. Sad

bigTillyMint · 28/07/2014 18:17

Or advise a take-away? Or eat out, MI?
Wilbur is blanking us - I have seen her on FBWink
NU you may still find some in the sales.

I am also very worried for Cremo.

Hi there Magi!

CointreauVersial · 28/07/2014 18:27

Hi Magi, do stick around. I recognise your name from somewhere....

Here in St Ives the sun is now beating down. Where was it between 10am and 5pm, might I ask? Angry DS and his mate have gone to frighten the resident seals jump off the harbour wall again, and the girls are about to do a chocolate workshop.
