Is this dress OK?

I have a white tie dinner and dance to go to in a couple of weeks, will this dress be OK do you think? How would you style it?

I don't do fussy but want to look nice and don't want to spend a lot of money because I've lost a couple of stone this year and have another stone to lose so I really don't want to fork out on something that may not fit me in 6 months time.

What do you think, is it awful? (I'm 48 btw, dark auburn hair)

Oh and it's incredibly cheap!

I like it. Simple silver strappy sandals and bracelet to accessorise.

MuttonCadet · 14/07/2014 19:22

Yes, gorgeous colour, and what a bargain!

DarkBlueEyes · 14/07/2014 19:22

Gorgeous dress, lovely colour. You could dress it up or down easily, I think you've chosen really well.

GilbertBlytheWouldGetIt · 14/07/2014 19:26

very pretty

Selks · 14/07/2014 19:29

Looks good to me for a white tie do. Bargainous! For me, it would depend how the fabric feels and looks in reality, with it being polyester. Might be lovely, but then again some poly fabrics are nasty.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 14/07/2014 19:56

Nice - will be good with dark hair.

Pretty vintage-esque bag here

WilburIsSomePig · 14/07/2014 20:05

I've got a bag really similar to that Remus except a tiny bit darker.

Glad you don't all hate it, I'm not exactly a fashionista but I really love the colour. Do you reckon closed toe shoes or sandals would look best?

FlossieTreadlight · 14/07/2014 20:56

Love the dress and I think sandals

MuttonCadet · 14/07/2014 21:03

Sandals, metallics

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 14/07/2014 21:04

I've been trying to find some silver sandals for you, but they are all a bit Strictly so far.

AnyFucker · 14/07/2014 21:04

Lovely dress

I would wear silver strappy sandals with that

HennaFlare · 14/07/2014 21:07

I feel like it should flare at the bottom and the shape is a bit "not pencil/not a-line" for me. Have you tried it on? For white tie, I would want some swish.

AnyFucker · 14/07/2014 21:08

something like this?

WilburIsSomePig · 14/07/2014 21:11

Christ they're high AF! I would break my neck in those :)

OP posts:
AnyFucker · 14/07/2014 21:11

there are lots of similar ones that are not so high

WilburIsSomePig · 14/07/2014 21:12

Haven't tried it on yet, ordered it yesterday then had a wobble about it!

WilburIsSomePig · 14/07/2014 21:15

Too Strictly??

yes, they are too "Strictly" for me

you need something a bit funkier

AnyFucker · 14/07/2014 21:20

these are nice and not so many ££

WilburIsSomePig · 14/07/2014 21:28

OK we have the dress, shoes and bag sorted. What about jewellery? And if one of you could just pop round and do my hair for me on the day then I'm done! :D
