Pippa here too Smile

TKKW · 07/07/2014 11:21

pippa

Dancergirl · 07/07/2014 11:23

Thanks, I think I like the Pippa too!

If there are any Pippa owners here, do you have the standard size one or mini? I don't like my bags too big so was looking at the mini. Does it have plenty of storage or is it really small?

pippa! I have standard and it is quite big, can easily fit everything I need for work in it including my lunch! John Lewis have then on display if you're near one.

Dancergirl · 07/07/2014 11:58

What do you think of this colour - apricot with black trim..?

Amazingly, I have both those.

However I very rarely use the Pippa and regret buying. Mostly because of the fussy 'gold' metalwork which is a bit bling, verging on naff for my personal tastes. If you're planning on getting one with 'silver' metalwork though I guess that won't apply so much.

I have the smaller Pippa and find it heavy, which I don't like, but OK though not great size wise - certainly less capacious than, eg, the Boden one. Also find the cross body strap a bit thin and weedy in look and feel compared to the 'statement' grab handles, though you may not be planning to use it.

Lastly, I personally think the Pippa has been around so long now and is so recognisable and often seen that it's a bit boring.

As for the Boden, to tell the truth I haven't really started using this yet (have it on navy) but have tried it out and it's great in practical terms - lots of room, pockets etc. The metalwork is brass. So not bling like my Pippa but not super classy. But then I'd say the whole bag is more unstructured and casual, which suits me and my lifestyle, but might not you, depending how you mainly want to use it.

polyhymnia · 07/07/2014 13:43

On the apricot, fine if you plan it to be just a summer bag, not a year round one. But yet another reason I don't use my Pippa is because it's in Shark and so a very pale grey which only really looks right in summer.

Dancergirl · 07/07/2014 13:59

I looked at Shark, that looks lovely too.

There is also a lovely shade of mid-blue. I might order both the blue and apricot and see which I like best Smile

I prefer the Boden, the Pippa is a bit to formal for me.

TulipOHare · 07/07/2014 14:10

Much prefer the Boden one and might buy it if it comes down a bit more in clearance.

Don't like the Pippa at all, I'm afraid. But then I often look at bags and shoes that people gush over and just don't get the appeal at all, so Grin

polyhymnia · 07/07/2014 15:04

Sadly I was silly enough to buy the Pippa and keep beyond return dat before realising I too didn't really get the appeal !

F4ttyBumBum · 07/07/2014 18:38

Pippa all the way :)

ChablisLover · 07/07/2014 18:40

Avril from
School gate style blogged about this the other day and she said the quality wasn't up to the usual Boden standards

I have a pippa and when the strap broke modulu fixed it without question. And it was back within 3 days! Superb customer service

FoxyHarlow123 · 07/07/2014 18:42

I have 2 pippas, both for work as they're quite formal. Normal size is a great size for work - the mini would be too little for me, as I think small handbags are a bit naff (sorry, I just do!).

Olddear · 07/07/2014 22:32

I've got the pippa! Love it!

cocobongo · 07/07/2014 22:36

I too have the Pippa, and regret it. It is too heavy and can't be carried on my shoulder, so has to be hand-held or in the crook of my arm. I can't be bothered with that for long! Also, it squeaks when I am carrying it, must be from the bling-tastic metal rubbing against the leather.

Though, on the flip side, it is a smarter looking bag than the boden one......

butterfliesinmytummy · 08/07/2014 03:32

I would go for the jaeger Hastings bowling bag in Prussian blue (or caramel or black). Reduced from 299 to 99, jaeger bags are outstanding quality and beautiful leather.

mirpuppet · 08/07/2014 07:36

butterflies Jaeger bag is nice. Do you have it?

Giraffeski · 08/07/2014 12:48

I have the Pippa and it is the perfect size (fits voluminous purse, small make up bag, ipad and kindle plus lots more when I want, but I wish the handles were a tiny bit longer so I could wear it over my shoulder at times as the size does mean it gets filled up and can be heavy! I think the mini size has a detachable shoulder strap, so maybe something to consider?
That said about the strap, I still I've love love my Pippa, it has lots of different sections so I don't just lob everything in indiscriminately like I do with a one section bag. Also it is made to a very big standard so feels very nice, eg linings, pockets, metalware etc and it has feet too so better for putting down on the floor.

butterfliesinmytummy · 08/07/2014 12:55

I don't have the jaeger Hastings (not a fan of bowling bags personally, the shape doesn't suit me) but have half a dozen of their bags, all bought in the sales over the years, got my eye on a Chadwick!

OrangeyTulips · 08/07/2014 13:05

Dancergirl I have recently bought the standard Pippa from the Modalu website sale and I am really thrilled with it. Personally I don't find the gold parts too blingy although definitely some people do as I've read it here and on another thread. On the Modalu website under the outlet tab there is on sale a white mini pippa bag with silver rather than gold also a croc orange one. Both are £99.

I think the quality looks pretty good. I got mine in a vintage rose colour.

madammecholet · 08/07/2014 13:46

Jaegar one is FAR nicer than either of the other two Smile.... Pippa bag is everywhere and looks cheap, the Boden shape is far too frumpy imo..
