Thanks Beachy for the frisky title suggestion.

Well, here we all are!

I'm sorry Rudy. Sad Cancer is a bastard. My cousin, who has just endured months of chemo and radiotherapy, and being fed through a peg into his stomach, has been told that the cancer has spread to his bowel. He is being quite upbeat about it. This has been a shit year so far.

I used to be with EE, who were crap, now moved to giffgaff.

We used to pop to Disney after school sometimes. Blush And I went on my own for a last blast just before I left Paris.

Still struggling with holiday ideas. Was contemplating Italy, but will be too hot for DD1, who doesn't do heat. Wales and/or Scotland are beckoning...

Rosebag · 15/07/2014 21:24

stropps that's such a shame. Sad I hope they got some enjoyment out of the day. Presume they can get home ok?

EE have made a monumental cock up and they can't solve it without us starting completely from so scratch with the upgrade. Some fool upgraded DSs phone instead of my new one. So now neither are working.Confused The only saving grace is that my old one is ok, and DS is off on his trip tomorrow and doesn't need his phone.

I am sitting at the theatre whilst DD finishes another dress/tech. It's running over badly. dH has just got back and is trying to persuade DS to get to bed. We have a 2.30am start tomorrow to get him to the meeting point. I am outwardly calm and measured about it all. But my inner harpy is threatening to go public...

bigTillyMint · 15/07/2014 21:31

Keep breathing Rose!

Blackduck · 15/07/2014 21:32

I'm a giffgaff fan too!

I guess horses for courses MrsS - I have a friend who gets a late pass to Alton Towers at the end of the season - no queues and all that. It's the queuing (and crowds) that gets me.

Here work is depressing - the place is imploding....

Blackduck · 15/07/2014 21:33

I am drinking a rather nice Malbec from (whispers it) lidl....

motherinferior · 15/07/2014 21:35

Mucho chaos here wrt tomorrow's saxophone exam. Both DP and I are knackered and snarling at each other. He pointed out that if he produced what I did for supper (pasta with chopped cherry toms, olive oil, torn basil, pine nuts, mozzarella and optional pecorino) I'd say it was boring. I disagreed huffily.Wink

Blackduck · 15/07/2014 21:54

Yes because you have doubtlessly produced that meal having produced the previous 4 or 5.... So good thinking.
Here it was prawns in chilli and garlic, coleslaw and something impersonating a Greek salad and woe betide anyone who moans ... (Dp wanted more prawns)

motherinferior · 15/07/2014 22:01

Prawns sound fab.

I liked the pasta. Admittedly my definition of boring is 'something I don't like'. In my defence I only blew up at DP's trusty pasta-pesto-peas-tuna combo when he produced it - on a Saturday night - for approximately the millionth time. I quite enjoyed it the first 250.

CointreauVersial · 15/07/2014 22:01

Permission to brag.....Wink

DD2 achieved Level 6 Maths, also scoring 97% across the three standard Maths papers. She's absolutely chuffed to bits (as am I, being a fellow Maths nerd). We had a celebratory burger in the garden of the local pub.

Cv fab (I won't tell ds who will be gutted).

Here it was the 'nasty' bit of sex ed. Ds said 'and some people master bate g2with actions) why would they do that?' I vowed to remind him of this when he's a teen. :) he also asked about oral sex and when I said it was using ones mouth went off to gag :). Oh the naviety of youth...

Blackduck · 15/07/2014 22:09

Why does it seperate that word?!

MrsSchadenfreude · 15/07/2014 22:09

Nice one, CV!

Rudy that's a tough decision. Whats her view on it? When it's in that state it's such a tough one. My friend who died of breast cancer after 18 months of surgery, chemo and associated crap said if she'd have known she wouldn't have bothered and just lived her remaining days to the full. But there's the rub, we don't know.

Yes, friend younger and cancer had spread (bones, liver etc).
It's still a gamble, her consultant said they play the numbers.
Much strength and so very sorry

Blackduck · 15/07/2014 22:40

It's rubbish isn't it? Keep thinking of dp's sis who has the sword of Damocles hanging over her head.

originalpiratematerial · 15/07/2014 22:44

Sad for all affected by it, it is a real pisser.

Rosebag, very best wishes for DS as he sets off on his trip.

Blackduck Grin at the sex ed talk.

Here, it has been DS1's birthday, 15 on 15 July. Poor lad has spent most of it doing not only an ICT exam but also a GCSE English controlled assessment. He did eventually consent to having cake and candles and happy birthday sung to him this evening, much to DS3's delight. DS3 only really discovered birthdays last year.

Stropperella · 15/07/2014 22:49

Oh crap, Ruby, neither of those options do much to lift the spirits, to say the least. How's she taking it?

Dd was in a very bad temper, unsurprisingly. She said it was clearly an "inside job" as there is a second keyhole in the lockers which presumably needs a universal key to unlock it and is used by Thorpe Park staff in cases where people have lost their keys or whatever. There was just one tenner missing from each of their purses. It does look very much like someone going round helping themselves to a small amount of money, thinking that noone will notice/complain. But as the locker was open when the girls got back to it, it was obvious someone had been in it. She said Thorpe Park was "ok", but she wouldn't be going back because the queues were too long and she couldn't understand how anyone could spend a day there. (They only went for half a day) She has done Eurodisney with another family, but was pretty Meh about that too. Still, at least she's tried it. :)

I've decided the accountant was talking out of his arse on one important point. In fact, I know for sure that he was, so I am continuing with my plans. Which now involve sending off an application tomorrow for the very last place on a rather expensive course, which will involve me trekking to Surrey every Tuesday for the whole of the next academic year. However, even getting on the course (which includes teaching practice etc) will up my chances of being able to get some work locally, methinks. Plus, I am going to tap a friend for some work at his company, as he recently offered dd a job that she doesn't want, so I can do it instead. Every little helps etc etc. Resolutely positive, me. Grin

CV, super big congrats to your DD2. That was a well-earned burger. Grin

We appear to have found an über-expensive dog-sitter. And we appear to be going camping in France, somewhat against my better judgement. Dh is booking the campsites, ds is moaning that it won't be a proper holiday "without dd there to spoil it". Grin She may come up on the TGV from the south to join in, or she may not...

originalpiratematerial · 15/07/2014 22:54

Cor, Stropps, you do seem to have achieved a lot!

I am beyond chuffed that the dd of a mutual friend of mine and motherinferior's is going to pet-sit for our critters .

Stropperella · 15/07/2014 23:01

Ooh yes, much strength to Rosebag tonight. Hope the trip goes without a hitch.

Stropperella · 15/07/2014 23:03

OPM, happy birthday to your ds1. Glad ds3 enjoyed it too!

CointreauVersial · 15/07/2014 23:50

Yes, thinking of you tomorrow, Rose. Safe travel to your DS.
