Thanks Beachy for the frisky title suggestion.

Well, here we all are!

DD1 is Thorpe Park Bound tomorrow too, Stropps. Grin If she sees an odd mixture of "children" of varying nationalities (American, Russian, Australian) between 15 and 17, that will be them.

Rash is in my armpit in an odd straight line.

lalsy · 14/07/2014 23:03

Absolutely marvellous, Stropps, about dd. It is so wonderful when they take flight.

I don't know anything about your field but from the experience of friends applying for jobs and me sniffing round freelance work, it is sometimes worth carrying on, just trying different approaches and not worrying too much about each one. Volunteering also good I am sure.

MI, sympathy on Legoland (and I quite liked it there). It really isn't a sociable group day out unless your dc are tiny, IMO. The adults just shuffle around holding the picnic bags, never getting to finish a sentence. Would offering to cook a lovely dinner for them all on their return help?

BTM, hurrah on the kitchen front.

We're having loads of comings and goings here and I am a walking coach timetable, is tiring.

And sadly I can't make the 25th.

Auriga · 14/07/2014 23:06

Excellent news about DD, Stropps. And muscles.

Look forward to hearing about Operation Exit Strategy on 25 MrsS.

Mum apologised for yesterday's behaviour this evening. Old dogs can learn new tricks.

CointreauVersial · 14/07/2014 23:43

Not shingles, I hope, MrsS.

Blackduck · 15/07/2014 06:10

Stropps fab news on DD!

Yes MrsS not shingles?! (Dad had it badly in the arm pit....). Or allergy to underarm deodrant? I can't wear anything perfumed for that reason - itches like bad and takes forever to clear up, but also worse if stressed.

Here spent the night worrying about bathroom.......

bigTillyMint · 15/07/2014 06:34

Rudy, this is probably too late, but I am very happy with my John Lewis integrated washer - had it about 3 years so far. Wasn't more than £400, maybe nearer 3.

Stropps, great to hear about DD. And being cool! Saggy skin not so good - I am ensuring that mine doesn't go that way (hence why I've given up on ToT!) - I feel I need to plump it out plenty!

LalsySad but YaY! WAF

So 25th...

Stropp's it's always great to be thought of as a cool parent and well done to DD for tackling London. If she can do this, the TGV should be no sweat.

I am now rethinking my wardrobe for the weekend as it is going to be 30 apparently, although I suspect there may be a dip in temperature between Paris and NE England.

MI - the very mention of legoland would have made me crack, well done for remaining saintly so far.

NUFC69 · 15/07/2014 07:13

Excellent about DD, Stropps. It's what we all aim for.

Hatty, it has reached 25 occasionally, but is usually low 20s. Where are you going to?

bigTillyMint · 15/07/2014 07:17

30? In Engerland? In the frozen North?!!!

Rosebag · 15/07/2014 07:43

MI sympathies re manipulative, passive aggressive partner….by the sound of it, we are not alone on this board. I just fail monumentally and always fly off the handle. It doesn't work, but it doesn't half make me feel better. Nearest to murder I ever got was throwing a clock at DH's head. I must also admit, hanging my head in shame Blush that I never took DC to Legoland…how did I manage that? Poor deprived offspring. I would go, invent a sprained ankle and find a cafe to sit in with a good book, saying "I wouldn't want to spoil your day and I'm going to be slow…you go and enjoy, I'll meet up with you at lunchtime…" Grin

Stropps Lovely news re DD's growing confidence. Don't give up…and don't forget the health service option for assistant roles and volunteering!

I am too fat for a lot of wrinkles but the crepey flesh seems to come all the same. Sad

Packing for DS2's trip today. There's talk of a ceasefire…praise the lord. DD has a YT production every evening this week…well, 2 dress/techs and then 4 shows. Late nights and bad tempers abound. DH is conveniently away until tonight. DS1 nagging for a trip to Makro to stock up on toilet rolls and the like. How does one get time to oneself?

hattymattie · 15/07/2014 07:56

North Yorkshire NU - I have washed several cardigans.

hattymattie · 15/07/2014 07:58

I will add, last year we went to Edinburgh and it was scorching, giving DC's a totally false impression of the climate there.

motherinferior · 15/07/2014 08:21

Is it only Tuesday? I met quite a few deadlines yesterday, though more loom today. Also must go to a meeting (an interesting fact-finding one) and attend a DD1 performance. Tomorrow morning is dedicated to schlepping DD2 for her two music exams. And on Thursday it's DD1's Report Day. DP is slightly shamefacedly conceding that I am covering this lot.Grin

I have to say that thanks to you lot, Legoland is losing what appeal it previously had. WTF is a nice-natured and enthusiastic but 13-year-old DD1 supposed to do, poor love?

Stropperella · 15/07/2014 10:44

I have never done Legoland with my dcs, although various mums in my social circle have tried to pressure me into taking ds. I hate those sorts of places. I won't do Disney either. Ever. Dcs just have to wait until they are old enough to go by themselves or wangle their way into going with another family. Grin This has worked with dd and I'm sure ds will not suffer unduly from not having been to Legoland.

Stropperella · 15/07/2014 10:51

Blimey, Gove has got the chop..

motherinferior · 15/07/2014 11:00

And the whip.

Sunday is looking even worse and worse, thanks to you lot. Grin

bigTillyMint · 15/07/2014 11:11

OMG MI! But who is Nicky Morgan? Will they be an improvement?

I can polish my mum-halo as I have taken mine to Legoland. Just the once! If DD1 likes rides, she will be fineSmile

herbaceous · 15/07/2014 11:55

Lego
And is near the outlaws, so every time we drive past, DS asks if he can go. We kept putting him off, saying he could go for his "birthday treat'. With the excitement of his birthday, he seemed to have forgotten all about it. Bit no. Now he's all keen again, but the only time we can go is weekends or school holidays, which I gather would be utter hell on earth.

I'm hoping for an inset day early in September...

Blackduck · 15/07/2014 12:31

LEGOLAND - hmmm - did it when ds was tiny (I didn't pay), it was okay (ish)

Change in ED Minster? - well he had to Gove is universally hated and he needs to get parents (and there's a fair few of us) back on side. My guess, nowt will change, but it'll be a friendly lady at the top (cynical)

Blackduck · 15/07/2014 12:32

caveat - like Stropps I hate all such amusement parks..... (Disneyland Paris was likewise paid for by someone else)

motherinferior · 15/07/2014 12:36

She's not a very friendly lady to ladyfriendly ladies, if you get my drift. Voted against same sex marriage.

I realise this isn't necessarily a qualification for EdSec to those less rabidly right-on than me, but does rather beg the question of what values will and won't be promoted.

bigTillyMint · 15/07/2014 13:14

Herbs, we went in September on a Sunday IIRC when we went. With friends, for free courtesy of Tescos! Got there as it opened and left as soon as. DS liked the lego models best - he's never been that keen on ridesGrin

Disneyland Paris was hell on wheels, particularly Thunder Mountain, but we went with same friends courtesy of Tescos and stayed from opening to closingShock Never again! MrsS, however used to go weeklyWink

Yes, she seems to be a rabid Tory too. Sadly.
