Chanel No 5 - reminds me of my wonderful late Mum, and also of Christmas.

Petal and Madrigals. .. My mum wore Samsara and White Linen a lot when I was a kid. It always makes me think of her too when I catch a sniff of it.

There are some truly weird fuckers around at the moment. Talk about picking fault with anything and everything. Do you go round all the "which frock/which pushchair/which pizza for my dinner" threads accusing the OPs of being journalists? Hmm

OP- Congratulations on the new you, and have a lovely time on your special dates!

I love 19, oddly, my friend used it a million years ago, and I only rediscovered it by accident a couple of years back, but it reminded me so much of that wonderful time in our lives I wear it almost all the time myself now.

I like the orange coloured Chance as well.

There have been many threads over the years about Chanel perfumes cf other brands, I think because they are universally acclaimed to have the best "noses" etc. (OP- have you checked the perfumista threads? They are fab reading!)

I am ancient and so hardly like any "new" perfumes that come out.

Girlsbrigadewashorrible · 23/06/2014 14:21

Coco Mademoiselle for me. I've worn it since it was launched about 17 years ago and not tried anything else since, as I am so happy with it.

Apatite1 · 23/06/2014 14:26
  1. Cristalle eau verte. I feel this is so underrated.
  1. Coco (original)
  1. Coromandel
MrsDavidBowie · 23/06/2014 14:27

I wear no 19
Hate no 5

TantrumsAndBalloons · 23/06/2014 14:28

oh dear god almighty. A person cannot even ask a question about perfume without being called strange, odd, a market researcher, a journalist.

I dont understand the point. If you do not want to contribute to the bloody thread, then dont.

I love Chanel No19, OP. I havent tried any others though.

selee · 23/06/2014 15:58

Thanks Sangria and Tantrums. You both rock!
Haven't yet seen perfumista threads, will do. Going to spray 19 on in store tomorrow see how it settles on me xx

cristalle (but not the au vert,) and No 19

Chance is too sweet.
No 5 is horrible.

cardamomginger · 23/06/2014 16:26

Cuir de Russie.
Rue Cambon 31.

Sixpencenonethericher · 23/06/2014 16:34

I find that chance lasts really well and 3 people today have asked what it is

squoosh · 23/06/2014 16:40

I love Sycomore

Kundry · 23/06/2014 17:58

Hope you find something you like. Have you ever ordered from one of the perfume decant sites?

I'm a Guerlain and Caron perfume girl rather than a Chanel but it's great getting 1ml samples of lots of perfumes so you can try them several times and really decide what you like. Plus they will have all the samples of things like Les Exclusifs that they don't have in your local Debenhams - this is how I tried No 22.

Of course they you end up setting up a Fragrantica account to keep track of what you've tried, and how you felt about them, they you start trying the perfumes others liked and before you know it you have 50+ samples and a serious perfume habit Grin

selee · 23/06/2014 18:11

Kundry .. No I've never heard of those sites, do I just google one? Sounds bloody fantastic!! I can sense a new addiction starting....!!

polyhymnia · 23/06/2014 19:32

In Milan at moment and just sniffed some of the Exclusifs.

My favourite is Bel Respiro - very fresh with herbal notes, a million miles from, eg , No 5 which I don't like.

Also liked Cuir de Russie, Sycomore, Jersey. Ie, the off-beat ones, I guess.

Doitforme · 23/06/2014 19:58

Chanel No.5 for daytime and Coco for night. Have been wearing No.5 since I was 18 and am now late 40s

RavenRose · 23/06/2014 19:59

Definitely Cuir de Russie. I usually wear Guerlain but that one is gorgeous. I debated for ages then thought sod it and bought some with my bonus.

F4ttyBumBum · 23/06/2014 20:04

Call me a weirdo but I treat myself to the men's aftershave - Platinum Egoiste. Gorgeous!

Kundry · 23/06/2014 20:29

selee I've always bought from www.theperfumedcourt.com and found them very reliable.

I'm sure people on the perfumista threads can recommend others.

RavenRose I liked Cuir de Russie as well. Maybe it's a Guerlain-friendly Chanel?

selee · 23/06/2014 21:40

Thanks Kundry, I will take a look! All these suggestions have been fabulous, thank you everyone.
Fattybumbum, I feel the same way about YSL L'Homme, it's for men but I could wear it!
