Three weeks, tiny budget & no wedding dress.

I get married in 3 weeks. I have nothing to wear on the day and a seriously small budget to work with.
I did post on AIBU 7 weeks ago and got a lot of helpful advice, as well as suggestions to post on here.

I ordered a dress from H&M and lovely as it was on the hanger, it fitted badly and looked awful. Any ideas would be great,.

I wasn't sure if my dress would be ready for the wedding and so we bought me a beautiful 2nd hand white ball gown from the university. I didn't need it and so I'm saving it for a ball to go to :)

oh, how funny. i'm also getting married in 3 weeks and have a tiny budget! my dress cost £30 and my pumps were £12 so don't despair! Both were from Dorothy Perkins of all places.

Skinheadmermaid · 20/06/2014 21:16

There are lots of place that sell gorgeous gowns ie quiz miss self ridge river island new look do a couple ....all only online tho I've seen lots and lots of very elegant long dresses that would be beautiful for a wedding x

EBAY!!! It's amazing and you could pick up a dress for £20. Sometimes they even start at 99p and you could well grab an absolute bargain. Good luck x

Darn wish it was me getting married now. Fabulous dresses!!!

IfIDontKnowAndYouDontKnow · 22/06/2014 07:09

So many beautiful dresses. Thank you all.

I retried the H&M one on before I send it back, & realised that I was wearing it incorrectly Confused I had the seam that is meant to be the waist, up under my boobs.
Anyhow, now it's being worn the correct way, its looks better. if I were to scale it from 1 - 10 I'd stick to 5.

So, probably still going to keep looking. Am I meant to actually 'love' my dress or does that not actually happen?

shell311 that is a lovely dress. Was it fitted to you?

For £70 you might be able to pay a tailor to make the off-the-hanger dress fit better?

I got married in a £90 dress from M&S which didn't quite work perfectly as my boobs and waist and bum didn't fit the exact ratios that the dress was molded to: a tailor measured me everywhere and did a dozen little nips and tucks here and there on the dress and made it look gorgeous, which cost another £60.

shell311 · 27/06/2014 12:19

Oops sorry didn't see question, not fitted to me no
It hasn't been altered in any way.

Jenanive · 27/06/2014 13:29

If you are in the midlands and can get into my shop I will be able to help you with a wedding dress without spending very much

KissMyFatArse · 27/06/2014 13:53

If you were In scotland id give you my wedding dress. Size 16 but corset back so does size below and wedding dresses are always a bit smaller I would say. Shame it's just left in bag up loft! X
