Here we are crepeys - Friday 13th!

Oh mrs s and bd I am so pissed off for you both. Trouble at work is miserable and it is unavoidably personal no matter what people tell you. I agree with MI mrs s , why FGS do they not transfer you. What's it to them. Can you make an appt with personnel to discuss options. Or occupational Health at very least. I'd be thinking about taking out grievance proceedings ( or threatening to do so) to stick a rocket up HH's arse.

I am overheated and over tired . My first world problem today is that I do not own any shorts.Confused

QueenQueenie · 17/06/2014 22:17

Bloody hell. What crap you are having to put up with (Stropps / Mrs S / BD / anyone else lumbered with an awful work situation). Wishing you all strength and much sympathy.

Ds2 has last GCSE paper tomorrow (just taking one this year) and then exam season is officially OVER.

Am feeling rather weary and a bit ill - like I'm getting a terrible cold with sore eyes and throat and a bit achey. An early night beckons.

CointreauVersial · 17/06/2014 22:49

QQ - hope you feel better in the morning......

Thanks Sympathies to BD and MrsS on the work front. MrsS, forcing change in your organisation does seem akin to nailing custard to a wall.

After a majorly busy couple of months at work, things are a bit quieter for me, thank goodness. My boss has just informed me that he wants me to arrange another Fun Day for September. Last year's did raise about £5000 in the end, even though it turned my hair grey.

DD1 is struggling gamely on with the braces. She didn't sleep much last night, so was tired all day. I did at least serve up a soft dinner for her. WAF - I can't help on the food refusal, I'm afraid, as my lot are gannets.

CointreauVersial · 17/06/2014 22:54

Oh, and planning DD2's party is turning into a right headache. The DJ we booked, after two weeks of vagueness about booking deposits and so on, finally admitted he wasn't sure if he could manage the date after all. If he had just said so instead of avoiding my calls for a fortnight we could have found someone else. It is proving nigh on impossible, grrr.

Auriga · 17/06/2014 23:42

Just putting my head round the door to say hi Stropps, good to see you. And WAF and Hattie.

Please tell me who has just befriended me on FB? One I know is Rosebag (cheers) the other I just know is a crepey but not which Blush

27 is looking unlikely for me. My work is cancelled but we now know that the memorial for a friend is that day & DH and I are singing. It'll be tough, her youngest is only 13. She was diagnosed with an aggressive breast cancer whilst pregnant with him. She lived well and with extraordinary grace: she needs a good musical send-off.

All the best to those still nursing children through exams & hope your DD's feeling better Lalsy.

Breakthrough on migraine btw. I read a recent update advising 3 (three, III) aspirin and 2 ibuprofen at the first symptom, nothing else. Noticed I had a visual field defect yesterday evening and necked the lot as fast as I could. Lay down while the lightshow unfolded. When vision back to normal, ate some yoghurt and went to choir. Felt peculiar for the first half, then back to normal but with indigestion. And fine today. No headache, no vomiting, no triptans or anti-emetic (which always make me feel rubbish). Hope it's not a fluke.

Auriga · 17/06/2014 23:48

Sorry while I was faffing about I missed a lot more posts. Sympathy re: work MrsS. Sounds unbearable. And hope you feel better soon QQ.

Stropperella · 18/06/2014 00:03

Fingers crossed about the new migraine treatment, Auriga. Sounds promising. Sorry to hear about your friend.

MrsS, I am very Angry on your behalf. It is beyond idiotic that you are having to faff about with filing and such nonsense.

Have spent all evening screwing together bits of chicken run, but there is still much more to do. I was still outside at 10.30, tidying up wearing my head torch. I should like Beachy to know that we are doing our utmost to get our chicken issue sorted by the weekend as I really want to go to her camping fest. Our friendly chicken-minder said she wasn't prepared to take on the responsibility this time, with all the vulpine trouble in the local area - which is fair enough. So we are trying to sort out Fort Knox level protection. And to give him his due, dh has stepped up to the plate on this occasion. Perhaps it was because I called him a "lazy parasite" during the unfortunate incident last week... Sadly, we have now realised that we will have to design and build a blasted roof for this new accommodation. Bum.

New kitchen bin arrived today to replace the one I flattened last week when I jumped up and down on it repeatedly during the laziness row. Note to self: try not to do this in future. Those Brabantia metal bins are bloody expensive. Also, possibly does not set dcs the right example. Blush

lalsy · 18/06/2014 00:11

Auriga, I hope your migraine treatment keeps working. How lovely that you and your dh are singing for your friend's memorial and what a sad story.

Stropps, it sounds like you have loads on your plate and you fully deserve a Brabantia bin to take it out on.

Mrs S and BD, blimey, who are these people?

dd is feeling much better and doesn't seem worried about how she did (so I will try not to), thanks all.

WAF, dd sometimes skips evening meals. I don't know what I'd do if she did it a lot [helpful]. I find it reassuring that sometimes she tucks in enthusiastically.

bigTillyMint · 18/06/2014 06:27

Stropps, you flattened a bin? REspect!

Auriga glad you found new migrane treatment - hope it keeps on working. And how brave/lovely to sing at the memorial.

Lalsy, glad your DD is soldiering on. And how annoying, CV - hope you can find someone else.

Blackduck · 18/06/2014 07:05

Forgotten about Beachy's at the weekend! Who of the Crepeys is going?
Stropps hope you get the roof sorted!

MrsS what's the plan today? I have had a nice supportive email of my immediate boss who is will to back me up if I put in a complaint to the big boss. I have spent the night writing emails in my head.

Auriga · 18/06/2014 07:20

BD tell us more about your arse-kicking plans.
Stropps, if I jumped on our bin I'd bounce. Thinking of getting a metal one now, in case a really impressive tantrum is called for Grin
MrsS, what kind of bins do you have at work?

Blackduck · 18/06/2014 07:29

I will just make my point and indicate if it happens again I will go the formal route and put in an official complaint. I do not see why certain people where I work think that they can behave just how they please and make such accusations without there being any comeback. If I said the same thing about them (which frankly I could) I'd be fired.

NUFC69 · 18/06/2014 07:49

Sorry to hear about all the work related problems and hope that they can be resolved one way or another. It's awful to be miserable during the working week and I sympathise.

Auriga, very interested to hear about the migraine solution and hope it continues to work for you. I have sung several times at funeral services for friends - it's so difficult, but I have always been glad afterwards that I managed to do it.

Visit of friend going well, we had a nice day yesterday and a lovely meal out last night. Off to see the roses at Alnwick today.

Am slightly concerned that we haven't done anything about buying a new washing machine and just know by the time we actually get a new one I will have mountains of dirty washing. DH seems strangely unmoved.

I am seriously impressed with Stropps fox proof chicken house building skills.

Good luck to the DC finishing their exams. I have no ideas for teenagers missing meals but hope that it gets resolved satisfactorily soon.

Must now get up and sort out breakfast for visitor (and us).

motherinferior · 18/06/2014 07:53

Stropps, massive respect for bin-flattening. Auriga, that dosage would make sense from what specialists have told me in the past - they advocate MASSIVE dose of NSAIDs, often with domperidone - which has o course just been withdrawn (and how is DH, NU?) to get them into the system quicker.

Much as I would love to come to Beachy's I'll be panic-shopping for DD2's 11th. A shopping trip to Bromley to buy last-minute trainers did at least reveal she'd like some (surprisingly girly) clothes and half of Lush...Grin

motherinferior · 18/06/2014 07:55

WAF food thing would worry me too. It's not a peer pressure thing, is it?

Please remind me, lovely Crepeys, that I need to keep writing because it makes me feel better. Saner, yet.Grin

Blackduck · 18/06/2014 08:43

Actually I could have done with some bin stomping yesterday - can we see the evidence Stropps :)

Auriga - I used to suffer terribly with migraines when younger, but seem to have grown out of them (unless I do the combination of tired and stressed - Hmm this week could qualify)

MI - keep writing :)

Rosebag · 18/06/2014 09:02

Mother don't give up…and remember that there's someone here who wants to read some of your stuff!!! Smile
Stropps never mind about the bin. In fit of rage once I threw a clock at DH's head. It only just missed him. and good luck with your intended career path.
BD and Mrs S work situations sound horrible..sending you both hugs and knowing that there will be something better for you both further down the line.
Auriga I have weird painless migraine symptoms…silver zigzags down one side of my visual field and very occasionally double vision. the latter scared me witless the first time. Do hope the new pill regime gives you relief.

Choir last night…it's going weird…we're having a lot of trouble with attendance at the moment and it's hard to keep up morale under those circumstances. Nevertheless we got more than we thought and sang quite well. Had a hilarious "great minds " moment a the end with a good friend of mine who sings with the altos. I'm teaching them the 4 parter to The Seal Lullaby at the moment. Do any of you singers know it? If you search for it on YouTube, have a look at the composer who conducts on many of the clips (Eric Whitacre). Friend and I both blurted out simultaneously that is there was ever a real Christian Grey…he's it. We were ROFL laughing.
Grin Grin Grin

Rosebag · 18/06/2014 09:18

sorry re typos…but you get the gist...

motherinferior · 18/06/2014 09:20

We did his finger-snappy Cloudburst last concert.

He's not, ahem, unaware of his own charms, is he, Mr W?

motherinferior · 18/06/2014 09:22

According to DD2's school website 'In one day we have done a blind line, archery, low ropes, shelter building, rounders, basketball, a camp fire with roasted marshmallows... And all that in just one day! The children are having a fantastic time and the teachers are exhausted.'

I bet they are. Perhaps I should take soothing gin to the collection point on Friday?

Blackduck · 18/06/2014 09:35

Oh I love Cloudburst....

motherinferior · 18/06/2014 10:01

MrsS, I also think you have a v solid case for gender discrimination. I really really do not think a man with your experience and track record would be made to do filing and appointment booking.

Blackduck · 18/06/2014 10:07

MI very good point re MrsS!

beachyhead · 18/06/2014 11:12

Sympathies on work situations. Mrs S, do you have 'job description' that you can draw attention to? Is it that there is no interesting work around or are you being deliberately excluded from doing the good bits? It's so much more exhausting when work doesn't 'work' for whatever reason.

Stropps, bring the chickens if you want Grin. They can have a sleepover with my ladies (and 'date' the cockerel!) Just Stropps coming at the moment, but if the urge for the great outdoors sweeps anyone away, do come.

My 20 year wedding anniversary today! Whodafortit!

Builders are frantically digging up the patio so there could be a bit of drunken drain falling on Saturday.

Exams are all done and we got the Year 8 results at a 2.5 hour parents evening. Very patchy, I think it's fair to say. The Latin teacher's comments were 'Well, he's very enthusiastic, but I see you have us down as an option next year. Frankly, he's going to struggle, so you might want to reconsider!' Big whoops of joy from ds and off to food tech we go (I suspect that's the only option not yet oversubscribed).

BTM, I am, on the other hand, moving back into my kitchen this week.
