Which one is that, MI? I don't remember any of you looking hideous!

Stropps, you look great on your photo - like you're enjoying yourself Smile

motherinferior · 02/06/2014 16:45

The one at my father's 80th that you like. I look repulsive!

motherinferior · 02/06/2014 16:47

Jowly, enormous and revolting.

bigTillyMint · 02/06/2014 16:55

You do NOT look repulsive! You look normal sized with a nice outfit - love the beadsSmile

An appointment? Tell us more!

beachyhead · 02/06/2014 18:05

Ooh, how exciting Rudy! I think S&B should always consider and incorporate surgery!

bigTillyMint · 02/06/2014 18:09

Is it S&B surgery?

Stropperella · 02/06/2014 18:27

You looked really good in that photo, MI. Not any of the things you said. Whereas in my photo(s), I look like a squashed Mr Potatohead. However, I should be used to this by now. I'm sort of envious of those for whom surgery is an option for sorting out stuff they don't like. But only sort of.

I've never noticed them, Rudy!

(I look like the Grandma from the Giles cartoons on that thread. After a few sherries.)

motherinferior · 02/06/2014 18:59

dead ringer

Rosebag · 02/06/2014 19:22

Why does everyone think they're so hideous? You ain't seen nothing til you see how unbelievably unphotogenic I am. Rudy a friend of mine recently had surgery on her eye lids. They were so heavy that it was affecting her sight so she actually had it done at Moorfields! Before she had it done she looked as though she pretty much had her eyes shut most of the time. The result is very good indeed.

NUFC69 · 02/06/2014 19:33

Nooo, MI, you've outed me ..... I think there's a lot to be said for her attitude.

We went to the beach this morning with DGS (3) and DGD1 (2 on Sunday). Had a lovely time until she decided that she wasn't sharing and then had a tantrum and wouldn't be strapped in the car seat ... shudder ... I had quite forgotten about the "terrible twos". Thank God we could hand her back to her mum. That's the joy of being a grandma.

I hope everyone's day improved.

Unphotogenic?! Why do you think my FB picture is a dog? (Okay not any dog but DDog... But he's more photogenic than I am....)

NUFC69 · 02/06/2014 20:03

Ok, Rudy, would I have surgery? Probably not, but I have sort of toyed with the idea. You know what I mean, not in a serious way, but a "what if"? I suppose what I don't like are those women who have endless procedures and who look like dolls with frozen faces. Having your eyelids done seems an entirely different thing. Go for it if you're sure.

cremolafoam · 02/06/2014 20:06

Rudy if it makes you feel better about yourself then go for it. Fwiw I have never ever noticed anything about your eyelids. You're a fine lookin woman indeed ( other crepies will agree) However that's irrelevant if it is something you really want to change.
Personally I'd be choosing my jowls tucked behind my ears operationGrin

I am seeking the osteo/chiro chappy tomorrow . < slightly nervous>
Waf glad Paris was sympa!

wordassociationfootball · 02/06/2014 20:51

Good luck with osteo/chiro crem.

Rudy I am all Pilbury Dough boy of eyelid. Can't see my eyelashes sometimes. Have deffo considered what you're considering.

Would love to squeeze onto next meet up table.

originalpiratematerial · 02/06/2014 21:12

I've had good results from chiropractor treatment, cremola - wishing you luck too Smile.

mi it's a lovely photo - you have the most fantastic wonderful glowing skin Envy and you look perfectly poised and dramatic.

I'm back at work after a lovely few days off and was really not in the mood for it today. Did bugger all really Hmm.

SheherazadeSchadenfreude · 02/06/2014 22:39

I have a lazy eyelid. On my lazy eye. I don't think it is noticeable in real life, but it certainly is in photos.

It's not your most flattering photo, MI, but I think that is largely because it's not quite in focus. However, I don't think it's quite in the league of awfulness that you think - definitely not Giles Grandma that is me.

I went to some literary thing tonight on getting your book published. It was very good - a panel with Kate Mosse, Sarah Waters (who lived near me), Charlotte Mendelson, some agent/publisher called Felicity, and a young gel who is The Next Big Thing. (Book out this week called "Elizabeth is Missing.") The questions were interesting, apart from one woman who wouldn't relinquish the mike, who wanted to know why lesbian fiction wasn't more popular. I was sitting in the front row, and Sarah W rolled her eyes Grin. Kate M said rather cuttingly that like any genre, it needed to be fantastically well written to be popular. Oh and one woman who had an agent asked if she needed plastic surgery for her cover photo. (The answer was a resounding no.)

WAF - did you do the passages as well?

Stropperella · 02/06/2014 22:51

I would just like to add that I know my worries about my wonkiness etc are completely fatuous and I continue my project of learning to accept the way things are. My vision is being increasingly affected by my drooping eyelid on the wonky side, but I doubt that surgery would be a good idea in my case.

SheherazadeSchadenfreude · 02/06/2014 22:53

Which of your eyes is wonky, Stropps? We could walk down the street together and balance each other up!

LOL at Giles Grandma. Grin That was my annual Christmas present to DDad throughout most of my childhood - he loved his Giles Annuals.

Ruby - DM had her eyelids done a few years back (she would have been mid-50s) and it was extremely successful. They reduced the "hooded" upper lids, and sorted out the bags at the same time. No scarring or after-effects at all. Luckily I have DDad's eyes, so it's not a problem I have (but alas I also inherited his nose, which I dealt with when I was 22).

Herbs - your choir trip sounds like a blast.

Just had a small eBay triumph - our old lawnmower, which was 16 (!) years old, and cost £85, has just sold for £27. I have spent the money (plus some) on DH's birthday gifts - a golf trolley and a badminton net for the garden, also on eBay.

I have also been doing some birthday party planning for the DDs. DD1 is having eight friends round for a chocolate party (I did a Lakeland raid at the weekend, so we're armed with moulds, funnels, piping bags, sprinkles, you name it...) and DD2 is teaming up with her BFF to throw a disco in the village hall. It will be on the last weekend of term, and we are planning to invite the whole of Year 6. This could be a terrible error......

cremolafoam · 02/06/2014 23:27

Mrs. s did you miss the documentary about life of cats? it made my own droopy eyes leek water for some reason, {sentimental sniffing}
