Oh go on then Grin

Please find attached one thread for discussing your tattoos.

Yes, we know there are plenty of people who don't like them, but this is a nice thread for sharing our body art, not defending our choices. So please try to play nice.

I have sleeves on my forearms and I didn't find my inner forearms painful at all, more like a slight burn/hot feeling (for me anyway!), now if it's inner arm near your armpit, that's painful according to DH.

I do like that owl design but I'd incoperate leaves and a few branches.

As for colour/B&G it's personally choice. I prefer B&G and only have 1 colour tattoo
I like the classic look of B&G. DH loves colour.

autumnsmum · 23/05/2014 17:02

I must be a wuss because I've found my inner arm unbearable!

SummerRain · 23/05/2014 17:47

I'm not too pushed about pain, plenty of experience breathing through (migraines, childbirth, mc, tats, piercings, etc) but I've heard the inner arm is one of the ouchier ones alright

Multiple... I love the look of colour, especially on arms, but the owl designs I like all look best in black. I'm still rooting through pics, I found a few last week that looked great in colour but didn't think to save them and can't seem to find them on google now. Th artist is drawing me up a few ideas anyway, he seemed to get the general style I'm aiming for despite my rambling Grin

SummerRain · 23/05/2014 17:59

If I go for colour it would be a style more the first pic here tbh, but more vibrant colours like in the second pic

How much do small, simple tattoos cost, on average? I've been wanting to get a Deathly Hallows symbol for a few years now, probably on a shoulder blade as I suspect the parents at my school would frown at a visible one.

Also, does it hurt more if you're overweight?

PS - Hope you don't mind me asking!

kazzawazzawoo · 23/05/2014 20:26

Great thread, fab photos. Love the owls.

I only have a tiny tattoo on my arm, but would like to adapt it to something else. Not sure what and need to save first anyway. At present it's Saturn in a cluster of stars (well, dots!) . I do love moon and stars inspired stuff, but can't think what to turn it into. Maybe I need to go to my local tattoo parlour and ask for advice.

MikeLitoris · 23/05/2014 20:28

I've got 4.

First is a v.v cringy Japanese symbol on my hip. I was 15 and my friend and I had one each. Cost us £25 for them both.

I have a largish dragonfly on my back. Yes, a tramp stamp.

I have stars on my wrist that look like they were sprayed on.

I've got a floral design on my inner fore arm. It did hurt the most of all of them but not unbearable.

I'm hoping to have another done later this year nut not sure yet.

kazzawazzawoo · 23/05/2014 20:28

Snape, mine is small and simple and took about 15 mins and cost £45 ;)

HoneyDragon · 23/05/2014 20:29

I have several. This one may be familiar to some of you Grin

Summer those owls are gorgeous!

MultipleMama · 23/05/2014 20:41

Love the owl - with vibrant colours are beautiful.

Being overweight has no effect on the pain of a tattoo. Everyone has a different pain tolerance, regardless.

DH is going to have my lips tattooed onto his lower pelvic bone. I wanted it on his inner groin next to his jacob's ladder! Grin

SnapeAndLily · 23/05/2014 20:47

Oh, OK - that's useful thanks. Might bite the bullet then Grin

Valdeeves · 23/05/2014 20:48

I love the pictures - amazing!

SnapeAndLily · 23/05/2014 20:49

Loving all the owls upthread, but particularly admiring fab's colourful flower. Makes me smile to look at it - does it get that reaction in the street too?

Thurlow · 23/05/2014 20:50

I wish I could take photos of mine but I'm not a a contortionist! Grin

Thurlow · 23/05/2014 20:54

Damn it, posted too soon... Have a rose on my breast which I'm less keen about now but hardly anyone sees it. I was young. At least it wasn't a handprint...

Also have the silhouette of a panther climbing up my back which I LOVE, even if I never see it.

I really want a new one, I have it chosen but I just don't know how to find the time to get it done as I'm always either at work or with a little person. But I want something like these birds, quite spaced apart but going from the middle of my back, over my shoulder blade over my shoulder and collarbone. Easily hidden for my smart job, but still there.

Fab thread!! I love my tattoos...I keep forgetting how many I have :)

Chinese symbol on my calf
Proper tribal tramp stamp
"One love" on my wrist
A love poem on my ribs (that smarted a tad)
And a half sleeve of 50's movie stars half finishes

I think I'm addicted.

Mckayz · 23/05/2014 22:19

I really fancy a sugar skull and a flamingo. Just not sure where.

NationMcKinley · 23/05/2014 22:38

Hi everyone - I have a daisy on my shoulder, maybe slightly naff but it's symbolic Grin
I'm planning my second one but being preg and then bf'ing put that on hold. I'm getting a stylised colourful sun for my 3 sons This will out me completely!

IamAwitch · 24/05/2014 10:38

MultipleMama as soon as I get 5 to take pics of the man in web I will post them
I got him done over 13 years ago when going through my divorce, it was a art peice separated and tattooed over both feet and up on leg. its not aged well and I had to have it relined but I still love it and what it means to me.

I love the owl tattoo's I have a little one that is part of my sleeve, at one time b&w only tattoos, now I like colour as well.

As for pain every one is different on how they cope, me I am slightly weird as I the tattooing pain, its the day after that hurts worse lol

Mckayz · 24/05/2014 11:28

I hate the itching. The pains usually over not l

Mckayz · 24/05/2014 11:28

Thanks DD!

The pain is usually over not long after the tattoo has been finished. Then the bloody itching.

starshaker · 24/05/2014 11:34

I have lots of tattoos. I use the act of having a tattoo as a release if that makes sense. If i feel pain im not dead.
I also love my tattoos. Heres my latest

FarelyKnuts · 24/05/2014 13:19

I have two (so far).
One of a small girl with tattered clothes and butterfly wings on my shoulder blade and one on my foot/lower leg of the word Libertas leading into a dandelion blowing its seeds which turn into birds flying (like the ones in Thurlow's picture)
