My mum made me wear mine along with a repulsive pleated blue skirt.

A photo does exist. I look very miserable.

lol MI!
I feel the same way re: those jumpers with massively long rib band (up to elbow virtually) with lumpy zip-up and hideous fairisle patterns.

Drusilla · 31/08/2006 15:11

There are some nice ones in redoute catalogue but can't find them online. It doesn't seem to recognise "tank top". I expect the FRench call it something much more classy...

JackieNo · 31/08/2006 15:12

Double aaargh

JackieNo · 31/08/2006 15:13

Also called 'slipovers'.

iota · 31/08/2006 15:13

if they were called sleeveless jumpers or pullovers, I think I might be able to cope

iota · 31/08/2006 15:13

JackieNO - that was truly ghastly

bundle · 31/08/2006 15:14

tank tops are americanese for vests
what are popovers?

JackieNo · 31/08/2006 15:14

How about this - would make your eyes go funny after a bit!

iota · 31/08/2006 15:15

JackeNo - stop it at once - you will give me nightmares

bundle · 31/08/2006 15:15

thanks JackieNo, slipover!

JackieNo · 31/08/2006 15:16

Mmm - manly, Bundle.

and to make it all worse, popovers appear to be a cross between a muffin and a Yorkshire pudding and nothing to do with knitwear at all.

bundle · 31/08/2006 15:24

anniemac, they are singlets (but vests if you're northern like me)

I only have black ones - both from Jigsaw but they feel very "officey". Popovers are delicious, they serve them for breakfast in Hawaii IIRC

bakedpotato · 31/08/2006 16:04

Ok so what's the difference between a tanktop and a tank?
tanks were all over fashion pages not so long ago but i cant' remember what they looked like
