I need something in a real Plus size, thus the use of this website, which I do know has plenty of dreary clothes on, plus very cringe-making comments!

I think it is a pretty dress, but agree it is a very high price for what it is. If it is the tea dress look of it you like then maybe have a look at Cath Kidston? You would get a dress for under £100 then.

Please, please go and look at ASOS curve they do sizes 18 to 28.

I agree, that is so expensive and it doesn't look it! If you are set on wearing it I would definitely do bare legs and wedges to glam it up. I bet you can find a much nicer dress for less money though. Sorry if unhelpful!

its a great shaped dress for a curvy shape but the fabric is v cheap so I'd swerve. Have you checked out Pepperberry?

Many thanks for comments so far. Completely agree it's very pricy but, if it fits and suits in RL, am willing to pay on this occasion for peace of mind - ie, something I know looks nice and is also easy to wear (will be meeting lots of my son's DP's family for first time).

Agree too it needs glamming up with shoes, accessories, etc. Sadly, lots of yellow no good on me (fights with my blonde hair and skin tone) but there are other possibilities - suggestions welcome.

Asos isn't for me - too short (I'm 5'9'' and not young). Nor is 16 - their things tend to be very loose and floaty which isn't at all flattering with my large bust - I look like a ship in full sail. I need definition, and do have an hour glass figure.

That Asos daisy one is cute but way too short for me.

Wedges would look good with it,I agree.

I think the dress is very pretty. I was going to suggest igigi, which have some gorgeous frocks, but I wouldn't want to risk delivery from the US 2 weeks before your do. Worth a look though for future reference.

I do have some nice Russell and Bromley black patent lizard wedges from weddings last year so reckon they would do.
Teal or green could work for accessories - will explore - probably need a smart but plain cropped cardi ?

It's nice. Will be flattering and I think probably worth the money as you could wear it lots. Winter with opaques and red. Summer with a natural leg and lighter/brighter colour.

What size are you? If you are tall and busty www.saintbustier.com do some knockout dresses. Similar prices, but more interesting. I am not young either (50) and I have an amazingly flattering dress from there.

This is a great thread! I have three weddings this year 5'7 tall and size 20/22. One of weddings was at Easter and I had to wear the "uniform" dreaded black trousers :( :( every time I googled plus size wedding outfits I got sites like Simply Be marisota Clove etc and the style and cut is just not in their clothes :( I want stylish well cut good quality fabrics but all these sites offer is varying types of polyester and viscose not to mention Frump heaven! I'm 48 and do not suit sleeveless above knee mother of the bride type outfits. I need mid calf with a bit of a sleeve type dresses. Sorry to hijack your post OP rant over :)

No I quite agree with you, Maverick.

I love clothes and can cope with with every day dressing pretty well. Have lots of pieces from Boden chosen with much care (I send back 3 times as many things as I keep). Also stick to NYDJ jeans which are flattering and now come in wide range of styles and colours. Buy coats and parkas etc from Marina Rinaldi. And enjoy finding nice shoes, jewellery, scarves, etcetera But 'occasion' dressing really throws me.

Had three weddings to go to last year and ended up having dresses made - not a cheap option. Can't stand Simply Be and their ilk, Asia too short and not quite the quality I'd like not a fan of Anna Scholz, and don't want to wear a tent!
