Mara I remember that Gucci dress, it was great.

shopafrolic · 11/05/2014 09:32

Marsha aim higher! Grin Although TBH I'd rather drink Bollinger or Tattinger than Moet......

Drywhiteplease · 11/05/2014 09:33

Hee hee Shop. I've been trying to find an image of Pepsi and Shirley's Outfits from the "wake me up before you go go" Wham video.....Catherine Hamnett slogan t shirts, white pencil skirt, perms, white stilettos ..... I totally copied that look to go to a party at 6th form. I looked AMAZING!!! Funnily enough. Loads of slogans on tops are back again....

shopafrolic · 11/05/2014 09:35

I went to a party wearing black leggings, a black and white polka dot bikini top with a black sweatshirt slashed at the neck so it dropped off my shoulder. And those high top trainers with 3 or 4 coloured laces that you had to weave together - what were they called? I vividly remember dancing to Bronski Beat and Erasure - god the music was camp as back then!

MarshaBrady · 11/05/2014 09:37

That was meant to say ice bucket, but nice still works!

Shop sounds like fun.

All 90s is back in in some way, I never thought it would be, but there you go. Which means every decade has been recycled, where to next?!

shopafrolic · 11/05/2014 09:37

How did I not realise he was gay? assets6.heart.co.uk/2012/25/wham-through-the-years-6-1340202999-view-1.jpg

Drywhiteplease · 11/05/2014 09:50

I was never into Duran Duran. I love Wham, Spandau Ballet and then by the time Duran Duran were huge I had moved onto Prince.

shopafrolic · 11/05/2014 10:25

I also never realised what Frankie Goes to Hollywood's Relax was all about - the innocence of youth.

LinusDKD · 11/05/2014 10:28

Some Ash and Hudson boots are reduced on Baukjen if anyone is interested.

Fedupnagging · 11/05/2014 10:36

That case looks a little understocked Dry. Btw, I come into Kings X so can 'help' you drink wheel it across London.

Yes, was v disappointed when it was confirmed George Michael was gay. All of Duran Duran were gorgeous and I also liked Phill what's his name from Human League (before they got really famous). Oh and Roddy Frame from Aztec Camera. Blush

santamarianovella · 11/05/2014 10:45

I love Duran Duran! dry I still think Simon looks good,he must be in his mid 50s now, I still love Bon jovi, guns n roses,Aerosmith, 80s bands are the best,

mara I remember that gucci dress, I think it was from Tom fords second collection he designed for gucci,he also made beautiful white lace dresses, very short ones,I think Kylie wore one in a music Video ,can't remember which video though,

marsha yes the 90s are very big right now I was looking at this 90s chanel add

,and for a moment I thought it was balmain spring collection, the jackets all the pastels colours,he must have had a flick through Karl's old desgins , and just copied them! Sans the chanel logo of course!

LinusDKD · 11/05/2014 10:47

Wasn't it Toni Braxton who wore it in the video for Unbreak my M
Heart?

Stunning dress!

LinusDKD · 11/05/2014 10:49

I remember this Chanel ad and I envied Linda and Christy's impossibly long legs in those black dresses.

OneLittleLady · 11/05/2014 11:05

morning all. I love duran duran to this day (i was a bit young for them in the 80's though Wink )

My sister gave me a rare and utterly out of the blue compliment yesterday, saying that I 'look thinner' I was pretty chuffed tbh Smile

Still waiting on my welcome pack from the college, I'm still nervous that it's all a joke and I'm going to get an e-mail saying they were only joking! Blush

Black and grey leopard print tube skirt and grey Nirvana tee today

santamarianovella · 11/05/2014 11:09

linus you are right, its the white jersey dress, with gold clasp on the hip bone, very daring! I also love this i remember a white version too,but can't find a picture,

I love chanel 90s ad,there was a special print issued back in 93, to celebrate 10 years of Karl as designer at chanel,it was pure fun and frivolous! Love it,pictures of Gilles dufour,(chanel accessories designer in 80s and 90s) at the ritz paris with victories de castellane surrounded by dozens of chanel bags, shoes, and tweed jackets, I wish I kept that mag,Sad

one nooo! You just need time for it to sink in,and realise that you made it!

shop I think Duran Duran the reflex is not so innocent too!

MarshaBrady · 11/05/2014 12:20

Oh I love that Chanel ad Santa, very pretty.

That Gucci dress was probably the first time a big name like Tom Ford stuck in my mind. It was a good way to go.

Linus love those Christy and Linda ads, really takes me back.

LollipopViolet · 11/05/2014 12:31

Ooooh, on a trip to Tesco this morning, my mum bought a new mascara, and gave it to me :) She tried it, and then I did. My gran saw her eyes, saw mine and said, "Oh, it looks better on your eyes, LV, you've had practice at doing that."

Little bit harsh on my poor mum, but she is the least girly lady you could ever meet, and she did say she was just messing about, trying it!

Anyway, I've got a dilemma, not a fashion one, though. I volunteer at a children's centre, and as I've got no siblings or children of my own, I'm a bit unsure about actually caring for a small child (I'm studying childcare one night a week at college, but all the other female students are mums). The centre has one of those virtual baby dolls, that I could borrow and get some idea of what the parents go through. I said no, initially, because I live at home and don't want to disturb anyone's sleep.

I mentioned it to my mum on Friday, and she seems thrilled with the idea. Do you reckon I should go for it, for a night or two?

shopafrolic · 11/05/2014 12:41

Santa I am never letting you and my DH be together in the same room. He LOVES Bon Jovi - I hate them. I had to endure a concert at the O2 when I was 4 months pregnant - the first 'music' my unborn child heard. Not my thing at all!
Off to google the Reflex - flex, flex, flex, flex, flex.......

OneLittleLady · 11/05/2014 13:08

I'd go for it with the 'doll' lollipop it might give you a bit more confidence at the very least. How nice of you mum to give you the mascara Smile

Secretsquirrel13 · 11/05/2014 13:31

Loving the 80s and 90s ads. I was about as far away from groomed as you could get in the early 90s as a uni student I used to have to walk through the centre of Edinburgh and I got approached all the time by sinister blokes promising free haircuts if I would just come with them. Used to find it annoying but now I realise that in addition to grungey I looked like someone who was homeless!! Good memories of good times but oh what a state I lookedGrin all my friends from that time look loads better now.
Linus I remember that cut out dress, lovely.
Been for a long run, now slobbish in hush grey harems and a grey striped mint velvet top. One of the dc has just asked if I'm in pyjamas!

Drywhiteplease · 11/05/2014 13:34

When I was 17, after a huge campaign of nagging/sulking, my over protective parents allowed me to go to see Duran Duran at Wembley Arena, Seven and the Ragged Tiger what a ridiculously pretentious name tour. My friend's father had contacts and we were in the front row. I was right infront of the God who is John Taylor although I was a Roger Taylor fan myself, strong, moody, silent, brooding drummer .... Good God I nearly died, it was the most amazing thing I'd ever been to.
I wore a red and black bat wing sweater with a flap at the neck that unbuttoned, red fish tail pencil skirt and black stilettos , hair was flicks galore think lady Di gone bonkers and totally stiff. Infact I think my hair was stiff from 1983-1990. I singlehandedly kept the mousse remember that? and hair spray business afloat Grin

OneLittleLady she does random nice things like that. Just after Christmas, she went to Tesco (we live about 2 mins drive from one) and came back with a new jumper for me, one for my gran and one for her, just because :) She's lovely, my mum :)

Right, must stop procrastinating and sort my clothes out - need to get them bagged up to take to Slimming World on Wednesday, so our lovely consultant can drop them off at Cancer Research (it's an initiative Slimming World are running atm, I think it's a lovely idea).

OneLittleLady · 11/05/2014 14:05

lollipop my mum used to do similar things. She'd buy things she saw if she knew they were just right for me for no reason. She did the same for all my brothers and sisters and her grandchildren as well. I miss her a lot
