That's it really - got a big party to go to and would like to wear a sleeveless dress for once. I'm skinny-flabby - look thin in clothes but have a paunch, a saggy bum and really out of proportion bingo wings. (Nice!)

Have read lots about Tracy Anderson - should I do with or without weights, or both? Anything else? Am hopeless at push-ups, should I persevere?

This article may help with some of the myths surrounding weightlifting.
Please remember also that exercises using weights help build bone density so you will be helping your future self avoid osteoporosis whilst looking pretty damn hot Wink

Okay, this is my first post on here, have lurked for ages - had to sign in just to say this!

Body Pump will change your body...just probably not in six weeks, BUT it will have an impact. However, you do have to work your way up to using heavy-ish weights. Using a kilo or less is useless (except when you're just starting out.)

I have done Body Pump classes 3x per week, religiously, for about 18 months now. I currently use 10kg for bicep curls, and my other weights are similar to NorthumberlandLass' (eg 30 kg for squats).

You have to be trying VERY hard (e.g. protein supplements + steroids + hardcore workouts 5-7 days per week) for quite some time, before you will get bulky/sinewy arm muscles. You are not going to get the Madonna 'man-bicep' look from using 10 kg weights in Body Pump, trust me. The mega-fit instructors at my gym do these classes up to five times per week, using higher weights than I do, and they just look beautifully sculpted.

You say ten kilos. 5 kg each side

Totally agree - you need extra testosterone and protein and be lifting heavy for a long time -"plus making the cut to virtually zero body fat to get the scary guns people are mentioning. I personally like looking strong and defined.. It personal preference really isn't it :-)
