Johnnie Boden...so annoying

I was put on hold today and Johnnie comes on, sounding like Prince William "so sorry, ra RA! but we're busy!RA RA! please hold"

Is it just me or is he a bit if an idiot?
I loathe the hideous Boden floral macs, tunics, etc infact any of the floral stuff.
Can't stand the naff captions "Olda, a true friend will know the name of your parents" umm noooo
"Anne, the most underrated thing in the world: a beautiful smile" Hmm
Id rather "Helga, hates this stuff but doing it for the money"
"Lucy , shagged Lord Cecil on the snooker table last night wearing a lovely tweed skirt"
And all that hot air about launching Boden to the FRENCH ! The FRENCH JOHNNIE....you're crazy, did it happen?

Johnnie some of your product is fab (the up identifiable stuff, great quality, some novice accessories) but cut the crap please, we're not stupid.

Dry is old timer enough to know better

Mignonette · 02/04/2014 17:13

Bretons are perennial. I am at the stage now where I cluck and fuss over daft things like width of stripe and shade of cream/white/blue but I've yet to meet a person who didn't suit them.

bigkidsdidit · 02/04/2014 17:18

I loved quite a few things in the autumn catalogue but this season's is dreadful!

Mignonette · 02/04/2014 17:22

I liked the silver slingbacks. I think TwentyMumthing also professed a liking for them too. Funny because the edit of Boden clothes on Ambers blog looked really lovely- all sorbet shades and cool shapes but the catalogue is so hideously shot and styled that they lose that cachet.

Boden - you need to employ AmberNectarine as a stylist!

MrsCampbellBlack · 02/04/2014 17:27

I am wearing the leopard party heels today and love them! Bloke in office even complimented me on them.

I quite like the look of the organza skirt if worn with shirt for spring/summer office wear.

Interesting which brands pay attention to mn - Atterley road do as they messaged me after I said they were rubbish on here. I doubt its any of the NAP type brands though - unfortunately Smile

Drywhiteplease · 02/04/2014 17:33

LordP I'm flattered to be considered an old timer.....currently trialling many anti wrinkle potions in an effort to appear less old time Grin
I have to admit to something though, this arrived today and I have to say it's a keeper, great all round summer dress that is actually trans seasonal , all it needs to jazz it up is a pop of colour, a red lip just the one , apiece of statement jewellery and one of my many jaunty Bretons Grin Wink oh....perhaps a skater shoe to add that finishing touch

In denim...not hideous stripes

MarshaBrady · 02/04/2014 17:35

haha Dry.

MrsCampbellBlack · 02/04/2014 17:47

Dry - skip the potions and go straight to botox Wink

Nice dress.

Drywhiteplease · 02/04/2014 17:55

MrsCB I'm supposed to be saving up but keep spending my money on clothes....musts try harder btw I returned the Broderie top, you're right, the fits a bit dodgy

MrsCampbellBlack · 02/04/2014 18:08

I thought it would crease like mad so sensible decision!

Flangeofmingetown · 02/04/2014 19:45

There is loads I want this season. Bloody loads.

Maxi dress in black and navy.
Palma sandals in yellow and green, pink and rose gold
Crochet sleeveless top in purple
Yellow retro sleeveless top.
Cropped Cardigan in many shades

Oh dear crusty old flange time is upon me

TheLadyRadishes · 02/04/2014 19:53

I love to hate reading the boden catalogue and squirming at all the Ra! Johnnie-isms (though apparently he doesn't write them all himself! Someone has to write crap that sounds like a ridiculously posh middle aged man as he imagines you prancing along the riviera (or something) in this lovely top!).

The naff interview captions for the models are even worse.
There is a very old thread here that you might like.

LordPalmerston · 02/04/2014 19:56

STRIPEY T SHIRTS

LordPalmerston · 02/04/2014 19:58

I like going onto boden and saying all the reviews are unhelpful. Thrills me.

LordPalmerston · 02/04/2014 20:01

Also doing this

Johnnie Boden...so annoying
Dollydowser · 02/04/2014 20:16

I'm so old I can't read the small print in the catalogue, so I'm spared that! I always look online so that I can make it BIG for my rubbish eyesight.
The 2 dresses I've just had delivered will be going straight back, but to be fair most dresses don't fit me (enormous norks).

Drywhiteplease · 02/04/2014 20:17

Grin lordP you are very funny....

Does anyone do that fantasy shop thing and then find they get that awful email the next day about the phone ringing?

No I am just pretending to be rich. Now bugger off Johnnie you nosy git.

I also muck around with the outfit maker thing to make the most disgusting rah combinations possible. I triumph regularly it has to be said.

The catalogues are full of the most wanksome drivel, agreed.

looks down the back of my chair for where I left my life

LordPalmerston · 02/04/2014 20:25

do it yourself? its a HOOT

AmberNectarine · 02/04/2014 21:31

Johnnie was at the press day. He is a proper posh blazer wearing chap. Seems quite nice.

I did note the new catalogue actually includes the word sexy, which is progressive.

Ujjayi · 02/04/2014 21:39

MrsCampbellBlack the organza skirt is very Burberry. Definitely worth trying on, I reckon.

LordPalmerston · 02/04/2014 21:48

It's gopping. No stretch. Pencil shirts need stretch. Or fat thighs

Ujjayi · 02/04/2014 21:55

I think for summer, pencil skirts shouldn't be shrink-wrap tight. Far more flattering to have a bit of "ease".

almondblossom · 02/04/2014 22:18

I've put the £15 voucher that came today towards a dress with 20% off- but will probably return.

I only buy plain items in fitted styles and only when they are discounted or in sale.
