Hair Help! Huge mistake.

I've posted before to say about hair dye cock ups but now I've taken the true biscuit.

Because my hair has been getting brassier and yellower, I decided today to dye it a darker brown. It's now black in patches and looks dreadful. Condition is ok but prob not for long.

I'm so stupid. I just want my plain old mousey brown hair back

I'm sorry but any advice can't undo what you've done!

What I was recommended a long time ago was to use a long lasting semi to cover brassy tones. L'Oreal Castings has worked really well for me for many years for this purpose.

I use medium brown which is a 500. Anything else is very dark. It's what I consider mousy but on the darker end. Their light brown 400 is pretty good if you prefer a lighter mousy brown. They are both good flat browns with no reddy brassy tones. Some of the other shades are to reddish for me. And because they aren't permanent they don't leave underlying brassy bits as the colour fades. Not too bad for the condition of the hair either.

What colour are the bits that haven't gone black?

try using ColourB4 to get all the permanent dye out? Put a semi permanent ash colour on afterwards to tone down brassiness?

Will I get that from Boots?

yes you can get it in Boots/Superdrug and some supermarkets too

The bits that aren't black are light town with a reddish orangish undertone.

did you use enough colour for the length/thickness of your hair? Sounds like it wasnt applied evenly over your hair

I've bought the B4 removal stuff and have found a loreal castings shade that's mousy looking.

Nervous....

I had dark brown hair with years of build up and colour before took it to a sort of dark strawberry blond.

Recommend doing your research by reading lots of colour B4 reviews.

I'd suggest a light ash brown and wait a while before you make up your mind about the colour, it may oxidise/ go darker

I would go to a hairdresser to sort it out...

I would use a colour stripper first, the apply a dull "ash blonde" over whole head to tone it down and then use a light brown over the top of that.

I don't know if Iced Mocha is dull enough TBH. Iced Latte maybe.

I use it and I'm happy with it. A good even application should cover up the patchy bits. I think you could even pay a hairdresser to apply it for you. It leaves your hair in good condition.

Just make sure you use loads of conditioner or you may have some breakage put lots on and leave for at least 10mins.

colour b4 is not a bleach so hopefully not too damaging

Totally swear by colour b4. I accidentally died mine black and it sorted me out. Not bleach.

use the colour b4, then leave your hair alone for a week op.

what you end up getting with colour b4 calms down after a few days, and then you can reassess.

don't put anything permanent over the colour b4 for a few weeks.

You shouldn't put a permanent colour over Colour B4,apparently.

I'd remove as much colour as possible, using hot oil (heat opens shaft and oil grabs colour) and then shampooing out with green fairy liquid. Do this a couple of times.
Them put a semi permanent colour on in a dark brown.

I'm always ballsing my hair up, and do this an then focus on getting the condition back before redying with a permanent colour.

Definitely go to a hairdresser to sort .
