Over here all........

OP posts:
Stropperella · 23/04/2014 13:09

Oh no BTM. :( But good that you know about it.

CointreauVersial · 23/04/2014 13:11

Blimey, BTM. Were there symptoms??

LOL at carrot goldfish! I seem to remember, many years ago, DM disposing of recently-departed "Barnaby" by flushing him down the loo. Grin

Unlike the rest of you, I'm on fire today. I have finally caught up with myself at work after three weeks of fighting fires, juggling balls, holding fingers in dykes....(add your own cliché here), and at last am on top of things again. Lots of satisfying crossings-out on my To Do list.

bigTillyMint · 23/04/2014 13:17

And yes, Grin at carrot goldfish, but why put the dead one in the freezer?!

Stropps, it's balmy here - I am in a dress!

I was never into boy bands either. More an indie girl.

No symptoms - found it through regular checks for HRT. I am already doing all the things they recommend for lowering BP! Stress (DD) at home is probably not helping, but it could just be in my genes and/or age related.

motherinferior · 23/04/2014 13:17

I am actually getting through quite a bit of stuff but am trying to research a 'book spread' (aka badly-paid mini-feature) on something about which I know Sweet Eff Ay.

BTM, how scary. You're so active too! Assume you don't eat a saltpacked diet (I love salt, I admit...)

Auriga · 23/04/2014 13:22

Sorry about your BP, BTM. Hope the tablets are tolerable.

Cointreau, what's your secret? Haven't felt like that for ages.

Damn nearly keeled over after giving blood this morning. Tottered home feeling crepier than ever Sad

Discovered yesterday that DSis has been sitting on a letter from solicitor for 5 (five, V) months telling her that she filled in Mum's power of attorney incorrectly. It may be too late to put it right (that'll be another £500 please). Solicitor never thought to tell me or Mum Angry

herbaceous · 23/04/2014 13:22

I'd quite like to get some blood pressure pills - the only time my ankles were smaller than 'elephantine' was after DS was born when I was being medicated for super-high BP.

Yay! Masterchef tonight. Tragically, it's one of DP and my bonding activities.

motherinferior · 23/04/2014 13:40

I shall be working tonight, I suspect, on account of spending all day tomorrow at this funeral and then singing. My fellow-inmates will all be home, though, as they have dental appointments after school (DP hadn't actually remembered to mention this to the girls). My own teeth are fine, btw!

SheherazadeSchadenfreude · 23/04/2014 14:26

I have been writing objectives for a job I left eight months ago. They need to write an appraisal on me. I have been telling them this since I left, but they have just been fobbing me off. HR have now turned rottweiler on them, so they are pulling their fingers out to get it done. However, I am having difficulty remembering what I planned to do, over a year ago...

motherinferior · 23/04/2014 14:32

Work backwards from the things you did do, thus demonstrating that you are someone who achieves her objectives?

bigTillyMint · 23/04/2014 15:01

Are you really having difficulty, MrsS?Wink

Grin Rudy! And good to see you are killing the pets humanelyWink

It was a shock when I saw it a month ago, but I expected tests and tablets today. I was very relieved to be allowed to carry on with HRT though!

Just had a text from DD who did well in her ISA - now need to get her to see why she did well and to hold onto that positive feeling.

herbaceous · 23/04/2014 15:33

Like the goldfish tip, Rudy. Would it work with the cat? He's driving me demented at the moment, wanting to be on me in one way or another 24 hours a day.

I'm contemplating a long cardigan, of a drapey yet fitted nature that will disguise my arse yet not entirely obliterate my waist. Does such a thing exist?

hattymattie · 23/04/2014 15:37

DD's both out, DD1 revising physics with boyfriend againHmm . I am expecting a very good physics result at the end of all this.

DS here on the Wii with his friend. I am avoiding the ironing and reading Stoner, which is exceptionally beautifully written but sad, all about the futility of life.

I feel the need for some retail therapy coming on - so may have a little session in Paris next week, when school is back.

I'm loving the goldfish/carrot substitution Rudy - won't it just sink to the bottom - the carrot that is.

Our local supermarket is now selling off its Easter chocolate at two for the price of one. I must confess to having bought two small lindt bunnies.

CointreauVersial · 23/04/2014 15:45

Mmm... Lindt Bunnies....Our lovely next door neighbour brought round a big box of Lindor Eggs "for the family". I'm ashamed but only a little bit to say that I hid them in the kitchen and have been secretly munching. Blush

hattymattie · 23/04/2014 15:47

CV - you and me bothGrinGrin

herbaceous · 23/04/2014 15:48

Phwoar. Lindt bunnies and Lindor eggs. Bloody gorgeous. Also very partial to those boxes of solid Lindt animals, though they make me a bit sad. In the fridge is currently a small Mr Tumble egg, a hollow rabbit of much lower quality than Lindt, and a Green and Blacks bar of plain and ginger. Not entirely complete. My 'no sugar' idea isn't going entirely according to plan.

bigTillyMint · 23/04/2014 15:49

CV, way to goSmile I have been doing similar with some Lidl eggs which are surprisingly scrumptious.

Stropperella · 23/04/2014 16:45

I have raided ds's enormous sack of Easter eggs today as am reasonably sure that by Friday he won't notice the large hole in one of them has got a lot larger. Eyed dd's caramel lindor egg, but knew I wouldn't get away with that one. She's probably booby-trapped it anyway. Dm's neighbours came round with a giant pile of Easter eggs for the dcs, as dm always gives their littlies Christmas and birthday presents. Dcs were already well-supplied with chocolate, so they now have unfeasibly large amounts but are guarding it like Rottweilers. I have a wholesome dark choc one, but was in need of extra sugar and some cheap veg fat choc today. Grin

BTM, good luck with getting your dd to hang on to the positives. I have had no obvious luck so far in that regard with dd, but even she does seem to admit that last year's "I am a maths-dimwit" - spiel was, ahem, a little bit unhelpful to her.

S&B query: what is up with Gap's sizing? I purchased some "Skinny mini skimmers" in a size 10 and they are not skinny. They are like clown trousers. I still find it daft that I have to buy clothes in a size 10 now, mind you. I recently had to chuck out a rather nice black wool skirt that I bought from M&S in the 1980s. Nowt wrong with the skirt, but it was an olden-days size 14 and I couldn't do it up round the waist.

hattymattie · 23/04/2014 20:01

I think Gap sizes big and I often have to size down but beware you didn't buy an American 10.

Stropperella · 23/04/2014 20:18

Nope, it says US 6 UK 10 on the label. :)

hattymattie · 23/04/2014 20:21

Just big sizing thenSmile. I know I went down several sizes with trousers recently.

NearTheWindymill · 23/04/2014 21:08

I don't get this sizing thing. When I was 21 I was about the equivalent of an M&S 11. Wide hips, tiny waist - a 10 was too tight and a 12 hung off. 30+ years later and 3 stone heavier I am an M&S size 14. I really don't understand the generous sizing business.

For those who read my cartilege piercing thread and DS (yes BTM - you told me to belt up Smile). We have just skyped and it's inflamed and very very sore. I have just had a nasty recollection of this happening when I had my ears pierced. It went on for months and months and then I found out I was allergic to less than 18ct gold and to surgical steel, etc., (but can wear silver). I need to let him know this don't I. Can the piercing pieces be replaced at this early stage - was about 10 days ago I think? Sod it!

BTM - I hope you are OK - sorry to hear about the BP.
