Over here all........

Yes just looking at our camping gear today which is plentiful and mostly falling apart. It is quite a different prospect to go camping in Ireland at Easter to going to a lovely 5* camping en France in July.
The last time we did the former my sister had a meltdown comparable to finding shit in ones shoe and for the same reasons that Stropps has outlined above ( 3 day damp slavery)

bigTillyMint · 18/04/2014 15:24

So what've you got planned for your child free bit?

I have picked up a virginia creeper, white geraniums and 5for4 herbs and someam having a coffee in the deli next to the shop MI and Addle and I met in to peruse dressesWink They have 25% off, but I'm not going in!

bigTillyMint · 18/04/2014 15:25

Cremo, you're not planning on going camping over the BH are you?!

Blackduck · 18/04/2014 16:54

I am currently hammering through 3 (III, three) application forms (oh joy.....), and dp has invited people to dinner tomorrow and then I may just do NOTHING!

I've just bought four herb pots too, BTM, to replace the ones knackered by the builders (who are currently building a porch) and my first tomatoes of the year are going in.

So pleased you found 'new friends', HM Smile I think new friends later in life are a real joy!

Yes, BD. Lots of grass for camping here. Tis joys of being in the country. Can't get a latte for miles, but loads of grass and pigs!

herbaceous · 18/04/2014 17:08

I thought we were the only people in the country not to be going away for Easter, until I went into the local homebase and found most of the population of east London in there. DP is now painting the front wall - bare for a year - while I go to the park. And run 'love parties' for teddy.

Tonight master chef and mad men, series six. Vi. 6.

I wouldn't be able to persuade DP into a tent in a million years. Then again, I'm hardly a seasoned camper - the last time I was in a tent was in Australia in 1989.

We're both knackered. Me because it took three hours to drive home yesterday, and DP because of weeks of emotional trauma.

bigTillyMint · 18/04/2014 17:17

No Herbs, we are here too! I think it's the first time in 10? years that we have been at home over the Easter weekend, and our neck of the woods is definitely much quieter than usual. You deserve a quiet weekendSmile

Have planted my lovely Virginia creeper, but I'm leaving the rest till tomorrow. And DH needs to put up stuff for the climbers to climb up!

cremeggafoam · 18/04/2014 18:01

Heavens no BTM - not going anywhere for the forseeable what with ddad still in the gulag hospital and dd has the small matter of some exams( apparently )
Been in the garden today. 'Twas lovely, and i can report lots if ladybirds . Up to see dad tonight. He's responding well to treatment ; according to one particular nurse ' he's quite a handful'Blush
Herbs we are home and I am actually working tomorrow.Shock

CointreauVersial · 18/04/2014 18:18

DS and mates were still on the trampoline at 9am, although they complained that they kept rolling together and woke up on top of each other. Accusations of duvet-stealing etc etc.Grin

We are off to the Midlands for a family Easter. Packing is my next chore.

Stropperella · 18/04/2014 20:37

Gah, wrote a long post and it got eaten. Suffice to say: we will be staying put, as ever. Dm always requires our presence on Easter Sunday as the prodigal son comes for a visit with his brood and his time is always infinitely more precious than ours. (Bitter? Who? Me?) Db traditionally tells me nothing until he has settled himself in at dm's premises, so I can expect a text tomorrow morning, around which I must then arrange our w/e. Ho hum.

I have a lot of work lined up immediately after Easter and am trying to get many domestic jobs done now as weekends will be in short supply until the end of May. I need to get some fencing done at the bottom of my garden, as the chickens' scorched-earth terrain management policy is upsetting me and the wildlife that used to happily inhabit that area.

Today's random quote from ds: "Never put daisies in a jar for a week and then drink the water. And definitely don't add cocoa powder, because that doesn't make it better." Confused

beachyhead · 18/04/2014 21:39

Very impressed by all night trampoline sleeping. We have boys sleeping in the garden tonight - frost expected here Grin

bigTillyMint · 18/04/2014 22:15

Eeek, Stropps, I hope he didn't find that out by trying it himself!

DH and I have just caught up on 2 episodes of Gogglebox with DD. I want to adopt Leon as my dadEaster Smile

cremeggafoam · 19/04/2014 00:19

Poor June BTM !

CointreauVersial · 19/04/2014 00:28

BTM - love Gogglebox. More than one person has said that Leon and June are DH and I in a few year's time. Blush Grin

More trampoline sleeping tonight; the DDs wanted in on the action, so all three DCs are out there tonight. And it's cold. Good luck to them (she says, snuggling in her warm bed).

hattymattie · 19/04/2014 06:59

Stropp's I know exactly how you feel re DB - I have exactly the same problem with DS - who gets to visit my parents far more often than us as she's already in the UK and has more flexibility, yet the summer visit always has to fit round her schedule - inspite of the fact she goes at Christmas and Easter. Also - I know it seems petty but even my DC's have noticed the excess of photos of angelic cousins chez the grandparents. Obviously mine are not up to standard.

Hope DS is bearing up after the daisy water - his immune system must be iron.

bigTillyMint · 19/04/2014 07:28

Cremo, is that with me as the DD or Leon as her DH?Easter Grin

CVEaster Grin It could be worse - you could be Steph and DomEaster Grin And are your DC completely mad?!

cremeggafoam · 19/04/2014 07:34

No BTM Grin not you silly!!

Just thinking if Junes long suffering of Leon and his cream crackers!
Stephanie and Dominic also make me roar. They are permanently pissed. There doesn't seem to be anything they don't drink.

bigTillyMint · 19/04/2014 07:38

Steph doesn't seem to get as slaughtered as Dom - my DC are just Easter Shock at him and can't believe that she is happily sitting next to him whilst he makes a complete tit of himselfEaster Grin

And I won't have a word said against Leon!

cremeggafoam · 19/04/2014 07:48

And stephs shoes! She's got more boots/ footwear than Imelda Marcos.Grin
Am fascinated by the big silent boyfriend in the German dad's house.

bigTillyMint · 19/04/2014 07:50

Loved it when she reckoned that Ant/Dec gave her the eye when they drove past her on the motorwayEaster Grin

Yes, that boyfriend is weirrrrrdddd!

Auriga · 19/04/2014 08:52

My last post has vanished Sad. Addle, I was wondering how your Dad is now? And Stropps, I can't see your 'how to study' post, do I need a secret handshake?

DCat has learnt to spit out her thyroid tablets . She seems well, apart from a certain amount of indoor crapping. She has quickly accustomed herself to the spoiling, which she graciously accepts as her due.

DM's Easter wish was to go to the seaside. Yesterday we took her to Eastbourne, where DH and DD walked the dog for miles while I took DM for a gentle totter up and down the Prom and the pier. It was too chilly to be comfortable sitting outside but we had lunch in the Victorian tea rooms with beautiful sea views. The best bit was the drive to Beachy Head, Birling Gap and Alfriston, with Spring bursting out all over in beautiful colours.

NearTheWindymill · 19/04/2014 22:17

DD and I got all three cats to the vet today for their jabs; it took two shifts. The BSH brothers are overweight and were told off (but greatly admired) but the moggy was praised. They all have tartar on their teeth and treatment under GA has been threatened.

DH and I had a very nice afternoon at RHS Wisley. The rhododendrons were gorgeous and I might persuade him to have a walk in the Isabella plantation tomorrow - it will be glorious. He bought me a new tray; I bought him tea and a scone. Life on the wild side here. But at least dd thinks she might actually do some revision tomorrow.

CointreauVersial · 20/04/2014 02:07

Sounds like a perfect day, Windy, I used to live next to Wisley - nice part of the world,

I am snuggled up in bed at DDad's house; full house with DSis and family here too. The DDs and cousins are on inflatable beds downstairs, and DS is wedged on the floor next to us. DDad dug through his drinks cabinet earlier and found some weird German alcoholic beverage that he poured into little pottery cups and set fire to - Christ knows what it was, but it sure hit the spot. Grin

What are you getting, Rudy? I have just replaced the ivy (saw your FB post!) and Virginia creeper that was completely removed with the building works behind, and have put in a rambling rose. I have also put clematis and honeysuckle in pots! All are growing well ATM, fingers crossed.
Purple mascara sounds great - do update!

Having a very quiet weekend here, but the DC don't seem to want to go to bed - they were still awake at 2 last nightShock DH is threatening to wake them up very early, but I think that might backfire. DD will have to get up at 7 on Tuesday and she hasn't been getting up before lunchtimeConfused
