We had wisteria on the back of the house - very very sunny. It never ever flowered, so I dug it out and planted jasmine which grows like a triffid!
The ivy is going in the most shady position and I will be trying to keep it in check!

I remain unmoved by gardening. Mr Inferior, on the other hand, rather enjoys it.

Devon is rather lovely and I have forced my lot out for walksShock. Though today is a bit gloomy and I am happily ensconced with a book listening to the church bells. We are going to mooch slowly home tomorrow...

Blackduck · 20/04/2014 09:23

Hi all - Happy Easter!
Here I fed six and had a laugh. One and half applications done. Will crack on today (which will mostly be spent in bed I think - looks tres gloomy out there)

Gardening - nah not my thing (good thing I only have a garden the size of a postage stamp)

SheherazadeSchadenfreude · 20/04/2014 09:45

Happy Easter! I am making bread of the non-breadmaker variety. I made a maple walnut loaf the other day, which lasted about five minutes; this one has sunflower seeds and oats in it. The crust is vastly better if it is baked in the oven.

No style and beauty news, but I have bought a new shower curtain and bath mat to liven up the main bathroom until we get around to getting it re-done. It looks more cheerful - not Ideal Home, but not student slum, either. Hopefully the kitten will resist the urge to pee on the bath mat...

herbaceous · 20/04/2014 09:48

Gnnn. Feeling a title fragile. Had a friend round last night, and we got through four bottles of wine between three of us. Now off to In laws for Easter roast, and can't decide if driving or train is the least unpleasant way of going. Driving quicker, as long as the traffic's OK.

My gardening efforts have so far been limited to planting the 'funky' colourful veg DP bought DS as a present, and in which he showed no (zero, nil, 0) interest.

CointreauVersial · 20/04/2014 10:19

Still in bed here, although I hear giggling from downstairs so I will have to get up and supervise breakfast shortly. My head is also on the sore side (that German potion was called Teufel I believe). We have BIL's roast beef to look forward to later; he is a marvellous cook.

Gardening - DH (predictably) is rubbish at it, and wouldn't know a weed from a shrub, so it is left to me to keep the wilderness in check. I am fond of the "bare minimum" approach. DH will join in if a power tool is involved.

Happy Easter All!

bigTillyMint · 20/04/2014 10:29

Happy Easter everyone!

I have to admit that I am not a natural gardener, but needs must and our newly landscaped but bare back wall is already looking a bit better with a few plants. DH only likes the pruning - but not the putting pruned bits into the binAngry - aspect of gardeningHmm

It is our wedding anniversary today, so we are going to go for brunch - just the two of us. MrsS, your bread sounds divine - maybe we could brunch at yoursEaster Wink

NearTheWindymill · 20/04/2014 11:02

Happy anniversay, Happy Easter. Too wet for walks today I think but the Easter service was uplifting this morning and the flowers were beautiful - such a relief to seem after 40 days without Grin.

cremeggafoam · 20/04/2014 11:13

Happy Easter everyone.Smile
I can report some light gardening here and some animal keeping: I am looking after the neighbours Pygmy goats for a couple of days. The two females are in kid so the males have had to be gated off ( they tend to attack the females in their confined state) All a bit high maintenance Grin

DDad is home and extraordinarily pleased with himself. DMum just glad she doesn't have to run to the hospital twice a day. I am making a welcome home cake and dh is planning a trial run on chocolate fondant for dinner. Hmm

Cat has brought us a dead bunny for Easter. Erm thanks. Would have much preferred a creme egg.Confused

wilbur · 20/04/2014 12:45

Ruby - gorgeous climber for a shady spot here. We had one at my old house and it was utterly beautiful, and smelt like heaven. It needs a bit of sun at some point during the day, so not deep, deep shade. Also clematis Pamela Jackman is good in shade, I am going to buy a couple to festoon my new (last August's b'day gift which I have only just got around to ordering) garden seat. I luuurve my garden, even though it is completely out of hand and far too much work for one person. I get a disproportionate satisfaction out of one small tidy flowerbed. I believe (although I rarely experience it myself) there are people who feel the same about a clean and tidy house, or a nicely-cooked meal....

We are heading back to London after a few days in the Cotswolds, which has been lovely, although now it's chucking it down. Pub Sunday lunch first though! Yummy.

wilbur · 20/04/2014 12:46

Crem - Envy re the goats, I love goats. And so glad your dad is home, that's wonderful news. Smile

Blackduck · 20/04/2014 13:30

Cremo glad DDad is home
Happy anniversary BTM!!

bigTillyMint · 20/04/2014 13:37

Cremo, glad to hear your DDad is home, not so on the dead rabbit front! Goatsitting sounds very noble of youEaster Smile

Had a lovely brunch and managed to get DH to engage with my plans for re-doing the kitchenEaster Smile We are now all slobbed infront of the TV eating chocolate eggsEaster Blush

Stropperella · 20/04/2014 22:04

Crem, great to hear that your dad is home. Hope the cake and choc fondant were enjoyed by all.

Busy family w/e here with db and co descending on us yesterday and then we all went to dm's for lunch today. Crepeys on FB, you can see that dd is neither "fat" nor "hideous", right? She claims that the photos I posted today demonstrate that she is both - especially as she is (oh the horror) makeup-free. (I would point out that I too am sans maquillage in the pics) However, I also note that she has now "liked" said photos, so she can't hate them that much...

Re: ds and his "daisy potion" mentioned upthread - I asked him when he had actually made this brew and he looked shifty and said "Ages ago when I was young and silly." Grin So probably last week, then.

Stropperella · 20/04/2014 22:10

ps: I have also purchased 2 different clematis and done some garden tidying and taken 2 carloads of stuff to the dump. I'm hoping to use eggs to bribe a neighbour to use his chainsaw on an out-of-control holly tree in our front garden, so I foresee many more trips to the dump in the near future. Except that I won't have any time, so we may well end up with a big pile of holly in front of the garage for a few weeks.

Auriga · 20/04/2014 22:23

Just had big slump and watched Jurassic Park II with DH and DD. Managed to cook a decent meal earlier, go to church (my atheism seems to be...er...lapsing) and walk the dog a couple of times. Did lots of reading (working my way through Jane Austen again).

Injured my hand earlier in week, so no gardening or serious housework. Today, strictly against hospital orders, I got DD to put an improvised splint on it. What a bloody relief. Might get some sleep tonight.

Yesterday DH got late tickets for King Lear at the Olivier - marvellous. Walked along South Bank to London Bridge in the sunshine afterwards and had grilled mackerel at 'Fish'.

Happy homecoming to your Dad, Crem. And Stropps, your photos are lovely. Will it help to say your DD looks like you? Um, thought not. (She does though)

bigTillyMint · 20/04/2014 22:42

We had a relaxing family afternoon - watched The Great Escape on catchup then had a big roast dinner and yet more Easter eggs. Perfect on a vile wet Sunday afternoon. DH and I just watched some programme about 50 years of pop music on BBC - some great tracks.

Stropps, tell your DD that I think she looks fabulous - clear skin, naturally pretty (no make-up needed) and slim and long-legged. I didn't think she'd appreciate some random crepey commenting on the photo on FB - DS has a whole load of comments from people he hasn't got a clue about on a picture of himGrin He doesn't seem to mind really though!

NearTheWindymill · 20/04/2014 22:52

Glad your dad's better creme. Just a quiet day here - cleaned the inside of one window and got a bit carried away so roast lamb was about two hours late. Had a little walk late afternoon and our little bit of SW London was like a ghost town - too wet even for the dog walkers Grin. DD and I watched a musical adaptation of The Sound of Music. I cried - she threw a sock at me. Says she'll do some revision tomorrow Hmm.

Skyped DS today - still don't like the piercing - his father has seen it now and has growled.

cremeggafoam · 21/04/2014 10:51

Back to square one with dad. He had a massive seizure at 5am. We are still in A&E Sad

herbaceous · 21/04/2014 10:56

Oh Cremo, that is horrible. Your poor dad. And poor you. And why the blazes are you having to wait so long in A&E?

SheherazadeSchadenfreude · 21/04/2014 11:10

Oh Cremo, that's awful. Poor you, Dad and your family. Can't believe you're still in A & E (actually, I can, which is worse..) Sad

motherinferior · 21/04/2014 11:18

Cremo darling, thinking of you all as we whizz through Devon.
