I restrained myself (by talking on the phone to dsis for an hour who is very sensible).

Latraviata · 05/04/2014 15:29

I am gutted-weather is shit in scotland so can't wear my viv shoes. Was considering wearing my new iron fist one's but as I will be standing most of the night then probably not a good idea. Boring old black patent peep toes it isSad

Mckayz · 05/04/2014 15:35

That's crap Latraviata.

I just got some high waisted jeans in primark. I really need to look for some shoes that will go with my new dress too.

Latraviata · 05/04/2014 15:42

Clarks have some lovely suede vintage style shoes in. I rarely shop in there as I think of it as being a bit "granny" like but seeing as I am only a kick up the arse from 40,I think I am kidding myself!

Debenhams also had some nice mary jane style shoes with heels that are ideal for every day. New look is also sometimes good for throwaway shoes too.

I got some shoes from primark a few weeks ago that are vintage styled-they come in black or beige patent and are mary jane style but tie with a ribbon. Probably won't last longer than a few months but were only a tenner.

Just wanted to share that my Collectif leopard print dress was a big hit last night! Got chatted up by two guys and even the singer I went to see said she loved my dress! Felt great.

ChickenFromHell · 06/04/2014 14:01

I got the ladyv mocha polka Hepburn for a wedding last year with a huge cream hat. It's a beaut. Had my eye on the navy polka for ages, but now it's all gone

Has anyone attempted making their own? I'm looking for a similar pattern to attempt it with some gorgeous material I've got but can find a pattern.

Clarabumps · 06/04/2014 15:21

Tragedy has struck. Lady V dress has a seam coming away. just the top stitch so no hole or anything. It was the last one so I can't return it for a replacement. I think I'm just going to take it to get repaired. I think I know why though. I was emptying the washing machine the other day and DP (the idiot) had rammed it full to bursting and in the middle of a tangled mess of clothes was my beautiful dress.Confused
So bloody annoyed. I wore it to a birthday party today and everyone loved it. I felt very pretty, although the west coast wind kept blowing it up around my head. Luckily I had my full briefs on or it could have been embarrassing. Blush

Clarabumps · 06/04/2014 15:57

Chicken- I have looked at a few patterns but I'm a bit scared. It'sa good six metres of material you need too for some patterns. I'd be scared I spent a fortune on material then buggered it up with my shit pattern cutting skills. Blush

RigglinJigglin · 06/04/2014 18:54

clara chicken here under a NC! Where did you find your pattern?

ThePortlyPinUp · 06/04/2014 19:18

Chickenfromhell, did you wear your LadyV Audrey dress with a petticoat. If so where was it from?

Clarabumps · 06/04/2014 20:49

I just googled vintage dress patterns, there's a few by simplicity. My sewing skills aren't up to much. I made dd a rara skirt last week. That was about my limit for now- I was sweating bullets making it.

Clarabumps · 06/04/2014 21:00

Fabric land do loads of material and it's really cheap. It's a bloody awful website, you can't buy online but you can call them up and order. It's worth it for the saving.

CallingAllEngels · 07/04/2014 07:55

I managed to resist the ladyv sale. This month I will not buy any more dresses or shoes or handbags!

If I see what I want I will get some casual 40s trousers and cardis, but I'm not looking as I really need to keep my money in my wallet this month!

ThePortlyPinUp · 08/04/2014 09:07
