Beauty Flash Balm - Is it really just a primer?

I get SO confused.

I really like this, have used for ages. My skin seems to love it. I use it on it's own, or under foundation. Only use it with a moisturiser if my skin feels a bit dry. Gives my face a nice fresh glow.

I have no idea what it does, but I use it because I like the smell!!

Don't think I've ever actually bought it as I tend to get it as part of the Clarins gifts.

Do you use it every day, Chicky?

I was given a tube and wear it under makeup on special occasions because it seems to tighten my pores & make my skin look nicer. It does irritate it a bit though so I can't use it everyday. I guess it's a primer - I wouldnt use it with a primer?

I love it. I use it on its own and it gives my skin a real glow.

I love it, I use Hydralauron first then Beauty Flash Balm.

I use Boots Time Delay Radiance Booster which is a great dupe for Beauty Flash. Plumps skin up beautifully by itself, is also great in my air conditioned office when my skin is a little parched, takes years off.

Love it, always have a tube on the go. I use it for when I want my make up to really glow but in an unseen sort of way. The best tip I have about it comes from Lisa Eldridge... Dot it about your face and smooth it on, rather than rub it. I'd always done that but then saw her video where she raves about it and she said to think of it like a helix / web that when you gently smooth it on, the parts join together and sort of pulls your face 'up'. The more you move the helix, the more it's likely to 'break'. In order to get the best results, do minimal smoothing and do it very gently.

Another fan. I sometimes just put it on before going out without makeup. (I have a separate primer which I sometimes use under my tinted moisturiser, if putting a bit more make up on).Seems to give skin a bit of a glow and make it tauter. Have always 'dotted' it on, never rubbed in.

if it didn't have a clarins name and their adverticing behind it no one would use it

Disagree Ronald - definitely has an effect on my skin / make up.

I love it. I'd say it was more of a serum than a primer. I'd wear primer in top if I was wearing foundation. I only usually wear it though instead of any make up.

I'm not a make up person at all - have never got on with foundation but got some flash balm stuff a couple of Christmases ago an bloody love it. It definitely changes how my skin looks, immediately. I dot it on and very lightly smooth it on my skin. Tiny amount and thank god it looks nothing like foundation but seems to give me a mini face lift and look all smooth and shiny! Wouldn't be without it.

ihatethecold, no! don't rub it in! It's supposed to be smoothed on, with as few strokes as possible. Lisa Eldridge says it has a 'film former' which you break if you rub it in.

do you use it on top of your spf?

Well, my moisturiser has an SPF and I use it after that. Except in the evening (which is when I mostly use it) when I use it on its own before make up.

Because of the hype I've tried it a few times over the years but it doesn't work for me. Not only did it make my face too shiny/greasy but it pilled as well.

What's the superdrug one called?

I like it. Use it when I feel I need a bit of a lift, and have the time to get it on right. I mix a tiny bit with my foundation and then pat/smooth it on with as little touching as possible.
